RATTLEKIT, 04 Moons, Thunderclan Kit // He/They // #ffa34c
Smoke torbie / Chocolate lynx point chimera with low white and amber-yellow eyes
Son of THORNSTAR and SERPENTBERRY, littermate to LEAFKIT and THISTLEKIT
Full of mischief and curiosity! Rattle doesn't always do the right thing but always does what he thinks is right.

The little half n' half tom carefully picked his way towards to leaders den, much more aware now of not getting in the way of older cats' paws as he made his way across the camp-- Though still having a kittens' stride to his step despite his best attempt to carry himself with as much pride and grace as the grown ups did. He wasn't quite there yet though but one day maybe!

Rattlekit had spied his reflection in a shallow puddle left over by the light rain earlier on during the day and had sat by it for some time, staring back at himself. Being told that half of his face looked just like Thornstars', it was the only time he really ever got to 'see' his father in any way. He knew which half it was of course since the pelt of his mother was very much a familiar sight to him by now and in the reflection he could see that he shared the darker colours of her pelt mainly. The other side as well as his eyes though did not match that of Serpentberry's, and instead he found the reflection of a cat he'd only ever heard about in passing stories. His father. What kind of cat had he been? What kind of leader? He had been named Thornstar afterall.

As Rattlekit now settled himself down just outside the leaders den neatly tucking his tail around himself he thought about what that really meant, that he was the son of a leader never meant to be? What did that make him? Why had Thornstar left them so soon? Why hadn't he at least said goodbye? And what would ThunderClan be like now if he had stayed instead of joining StarClan when he did? If he had of stayed then this very den he sat outside of now could've been his fathers'. Rattlekit felt lost in his vast sea of questions that felt like they would never be answered. Feeling his eyes begin to water he'd bring up a paw and draw it over his face a few times, pretending to clean himself in an attempt to push away tears.

Why had he chosen to sit outside of Juniperstar's den? Well of all the cats in ThunderClan, his father had chosen her as his deputy! That meant that surely she had known him well and that he had trusted her so, Rattlekit did too. Maybe she could tell him more about his father outside of the things mother had already mentioned as well? He didn't want to disturb Juniperstar though either so for now he waited outside the den, only peering in slightly to call out for her once so she knew he was there.

"Um... Hello? Juniperstar? It's me Rattlekit, can I talk to you? I understand if you're busy, I-I can come back later if you want-- It's not super important or anything-"

OOC- @juniperstar (Please allow Juni to join first then it'll be more open to others! Little thread for Rattle to ask about his father

a thousand paths are laid out from the moment of your birth. ones laid in thorns and those ripe with splendor. maybe it was just a matter of luck to stumble into the better ones, or it was never really a choice at all, carefully predetermined by whatever paws wove the fates themselves. perhaps, if given the chance to rewind, there were plenty of futures where loved ones were still here. it's a haunting proposition, the idea that you could completely change reality by taking one step to the left where you hadn't before; what would the cost be then? children unborn, different lives taken?

her whiskers quiver at the shifting of dirt outside her den, the muffled paw-steps of someone smaller than the lumbering, sulking figure of her deputy. she is more than eager to entertain the youth, taking comfort in their wonder like she could borrow it for herself for a moment. suspending the responsibility in favor of playing 'what ifs' with them. it's Rattlekit's too-small voice that calls out to her, and she recognizes it immediately. it was hard not to, given her proclivity towards hanging around Serpentberry when they were newborns.

she unfurls her folded limbs to stand, trotting towards the entrance of the den to peek her head out at the droopy-expression of her friend's child. "Hey Rattlekit." her eyes lift to search for his siblings, his mother, but they're not in step with him today. an adventure of his own making then... to come seek her out. "I'm not too busy for you, sunshine. What do you need?"
