Where the north wind meets the sea
There's a mother full of memory
Come, my darling, homeward bound
When all is lost, then all is found
There's a mother full of memory
Come, my darling, homeward bound
When all is lost, then all is found

" Milkheart. " rasped the elderly caretaker, her voice low and gravelly from years of use and perhaps a bit more. Her unseeing eyes, pale and clouded, focused on nothing, but her ears turned toward the sound of familiar pawsteps. A smile crept across her muzzle as she rose, padding carefully forward until her tail brushed the other's flank. She settled beside him with a soft purr, their shared warmth filling the den like sunlight filtering through leaves.
" It's been too long since we've simply sat down for a chat. " she murmured, amusement lacing her tone. " Your girls, they're reaching the age of warriorhood, aren't they? " Her tail flicked in a small, affectionate gesture, curling loosely around Milkheart's. " You must be so proud of them. " she added, a smile audible in her voice. " Though I imagine there've been some... Rowdy patches? " A quiet chuckle rumbled in her chest.
She tilted her head slightly, the question that followed softer, curious, but never prying. " What lays in the future for you now, Milkheart, my friend? Have you thought of more kits, perhaps..? " A small pause followed, the faint rustle of bedding and the distant chirp of evening birds filled the space between them. Snowveil's expression turned contemplative. " I know things have been a jumble. " she admitted, her tone gentle. " But life moves ever forward. One cannot linger in the past. "
Her tail brushed the other's once more, a wordless reassurance. " Still... " she murmured. " It's nice to sit here and remember, just for a moment. "
