— born into a small colony of traveling cats, rat was originally left unnamed alongside her siblings as their parents strongly believed the litter to be cursed. they were orphaned early on, abandoned as soon as they were fully weaned, and left to roam and fend for themselves. due to this and a series of dangerous encounters, lost friends, and generally unfortunate events, rat strongly believes herself to be cursed - something which severely impacts her self-esteem and leaves her very paranoid. she is extremely hard to get close to, as though she doesn't push others away she struggles to believe anything good will last, and any kindness can be genuine.
