Set in an alternate universe where the clans failed to escape the forest territory being destroyed and all perished, the land has finally recovered from the destruction and trees are once more regrowing. Why the twolegs did this and left the area untouched is anyone's guess but cats have begun to return to the heart of the wood and have even formed a colony, but with dwindling resources and infighting beginning to weight down upon them. It has been five years since the colony formed and they are feeling the strain now of having several mouths to feed and cats constantly bickering over decisions and organization. Fray, the current leader, has been sick in his den (a hollow dug out behind the large stones before the great tree) and his son Hawthorne has taken to trying to calm the chaos in his wake.
ABOUT THE COLONY CATS
The cats of the colony come from many types of backgrounds ranging from kittypets, loners, barncats, ship cats, abandoned kittens, wounded travelers brought in etc...as such they have a variety of names and backstories! Their knowledge of the clans, if any, are mostly vague stories from kittypets about the wildcats in the forest who ate other cats or tales from loners who knew roughly about the clan naming conventions and structures but no cat is aware of StarClan.
THE BEGINNING
While we do have an established starter plot, please feel free to make and establish your own plots around them! You're part of the history after all so your character has their own tale to tell!
(This will be edited to include other important threads and stories as we go, what is listed are the primary story beats we intend to hit - they may be adjusted and changed depending on IC actions and developments. Consider this a loose guide!)
- Fray, the colony leader has been sick for some time, its clear he won't last long and tension is already building as Hawthorne (Fray's son) and Sable butt heads over what the group needs.
- Fray dies and Sable openly challenges Hawthorne after he is buried. The two agree to a one on one battle to see who will step up as the colony leader.
- StarClan descend in the night to warn Hawthorne of Sable's treachery, he doesn't intent to fight fair and plans to jump the other tom with a large group and kill him. StarClan warn Hawthorne that the colony can not continue as it is - telling him of the clans and what must be done to revive them,
- With this warning in mind Hawthorne calls Sable out and he and his followers chase Sable and his from the forest to the marshlands.
- With the traitors removed Hawthorne informs the colony of his dreams, of StarClan and that he was told to go to the Moonstone to receive his nine lives and that going forward they will be known as ThunderClan.
- Sable is greeted in his dreams by a cat claiming to be a StarClanner as well, informing of how Hawthorne knew of his plans that should he kill Hawthorne he will grant him his own nine lives.
- On the way to the Moonstone, Hawthorne and Juniper get lost and are intercepted by Sable and his group who kill Hawthorne, leaving Juniper to venture alone to the Highstones where StarClan accepts her as ThunderClan's leader in Hawthorne's stead. Hawthorne himself, now Thornstar for the future he never got to have, gives Juniper the final life naming her Juniperstar.
- Meanwhile, granted his own lives Sablestar declares the marshes his and that his followers are now known as ShadowClan.
MEANWHILE
As the colony breaks and reforms, a clan in the distant lands well beyond the forest faces the realization their territory is no longer safe as a plague descends upon them.
SkyClan is a clan that already exists and must eventually find a new place to live due to an increase in rat infestations similar to the ones their predecessors had dealt with long ago. The decision is made to leave to rejoin their fellow clans in the forest territories, unaware that they fell long ago and are being rebuild at this very moment.
