Welcome to ThunderClan's assignment hub! Here will be our headquarters for all things "mentorship", with the main priority being pair assignments. See below for additional information and services.

Characters will randomly be assigned by Juniperstar without confirmation of the pair unless otherwise requested. If you are hoping for a specific pairing, please let eden know through the discord!

• CRANEWIVES — a highly-confident but low-experienced warrior that specializes in curses ; high activity
  
  BLIZZARDBLAZE — Blizzardblaze would consider the task of training an apprentice to be a great honor & responsibility and would push himself and his apprentice to be their best. He's pretty good-spirited and wouldn't be unduly harsh, but he cares a great deal about staying safe and doing the right thing, so would be pretty particular about following the rules. [HIGH]
  WEBFROST — she was a troublemaker apprentice, feel free to give her karmic justice of having to train another troublesome apprentice [or wait until the future and make her train one of dewshine's kits to make her finally be niceys to her previous mentor [HIGH]
  BRIARFOX — he will not be a long-term mentor, as he will be leaving/exiled/tbd thunderclan in the coming moons. if someone is interested in dealing with the turmoil of having a mentor who leaves the clan, he's your guy! [HIGH]
• MITSKIPAW — if you need to be mean be mean to her
  
  FAITHKIT — Faith will struggle with being sick a lot during early to mid apprenticeship due to her longstanding illness and it being leafbare. Outside of that, she will be starting as a lousy tracker due to her lack of smell! These drawbacks alongside others will be a sore spot for her so she will be causing some mild friction with teen angst lol these are the only current plots i have in mind [HIGH]
  FALSEKIT — Falsekit is, for lack of a better word, a morbid little guy. Full stop, I do plan for him to play a villainous role both within the clan and (probably) around the site as a whole. I would love either a mentor who fully encourages his manipulative and prideful tendencies OR a mentor who attempts to overcorrect him to the point where it has the opposite effect. Ultimately, I am okay with anything, though! I'm pretty flexible and can work with most of anything :} [HIGH]
  SUNKIT — Sunkit will be a difficult apprentice, but not in the typical troublemaking way... Fae is a bit of a spoiled kitty, and will deliberately avoid training fae doesn't want to do, trying to weasel faer way out of sparring due to a distaste for violence. He will struggle to confront difficult things, and hide behind tears and other apprentices to keep himself from getting in trouble. I would love a mentor who might let this happen for a little bit before catching wise and cracking down! [HIGH]
• IC: When it comes to assessments, Juniperstar is still learning how to measure what makes an apprentice warrior material as opposed to one still in need of training. She generally tries to find value in what skills have prolonged her own life: the ability to hunt, the dexterity to escape dangerous situations, and the ability to subdue an attacker. Assessments still lack uniformity, being explored and fluctuating from apprentice to apprentice... what is expected of one may not be expected of another during this time which may leave some more prepared for the cruelties of the world more readily than others.
  
  OOC: It is always up to the roleplayer of mentor and apprentice to determine their success of failure- they can be a great spot for development, for early graduations that shouldn't have been allowed to slip under the radar, or late bloomers who were ready and held back by over-cautious mentors!
  
  NEW: BEGINNING 3/1/26
  
  The ThunderClan HP team, in an effort to formalize the process of apprenticeship and add some substance to the role, is instituting a new system to measure the success or failure of an apprentice by requiring certain landmarks be met ICly. Apprentices will be expected to attend four mandatory threads before they are permitted to graduate (this also helps explain why early graduates might be what they are!).

  Final Assessment
  
  Final assessment threads will be posted once a month by a ThunderClan sHP+ and serve as a hub for all apprentices who with to make their attempt that month. These will be public threads, though the option to have a private assessment is always fine!
  
  Not sure what you have left to do? We have a publicly available apprentice roster for that [ here ]. We will attempt to keep it up to date so you don't have to but, feel free to nudge the HP team on discord if one of your milestone threads got missed!

Name: Owlbark
Experience level: High experience
Activity level: this is a secondary character for me, so i'm pretty casual with him! if he gets assigned an apprentice i can be flexible to fit my apprentice's activity/plots :)
Notes: he is a gruff dude and will definitely not be an easy mentor. he taught himself how to hunt and survive in the wild, and will expect his apprentice to go through all of the same tribulations he went through. he will want to make a great warrior and is willing to do what it takes.

Experience level: Mid-level expierence- has never mentored before, but is an excellent hunter
Activity level: High and Primary! I'm planning for ~10 posts a month!
Notes: He's upbeat and happy, trying to be a beam of light in everyone's life. He's selfless, but he isn't weakwilled. A firecracker when he wants to speak out, snapping back and exploding when he gets angry, but it's only directed at enemies (or people really trying his nerves.) He can be level headed when the situation demands it. The skills he'd pass on are hunting first -> fighting second -> negotiations third -> nest and den weaving last

Activity level: Priority casual
Notes:
★ A kind, awkward molly who is genuinely interested in the growth of an apprentice. She has never had a charge and will absolutely stumble her way through her first mentoring experience, but my goal is for she and her apprentice to form a bond of trust and friendship at the far end of it all!
★ She is likely to train cats into the Ranger specialisation as noted in the guide (under ranks), focusing on hunting, tracking and teamwork as priority skills.

Experience level: Low-intermediate
Activity level: varies between casual and flexible, working on being more active with her tho <3
Notes: She'd be excited to be assigned an apprentice but also very nervous as she's never specifically taught anyone before. She'll likely form a tight bond with her apprentice and will do her best to foster their growth.

Experience level: Average
Activity level: flexible
Notes: Copper would be slightly nervous to be assigned an apprentice, but would teach them all he knew. He would make sure they know how to fight and defend themselves, how to attack without causing severe damage to other cats, but also how to attack to cause severe damage to other predators. He would try to form a bond with his apprentice, wanting to see them thrive in life.

Experience level: high experience
Activity level: high primary
Notes: hazel will be a very active presence in her apprentices' lives. she would work hard to pass on qualities she deems the most important - hunting, and deplomacy. her apprentices will be like kin to her, and, although they would not be expected to reciprocate this relationship, she will appreciate it if it happens. she will not be an easy mentor, but will do her best to work with her apprentice's needs.

Activity level: casual secondary
Notes: grace is a generally anxious cat who may have a difficult time ordering around someone, even if they are charged to her. given time, however, she will get better, and will do her best to form a close bond with who she is assigned to. she may stray away from fighting training, which could become a plot point.

Activity level: Flexible but will prioritize apprentice threads over all else.
Notes: Harechaser is a patient but overbearing teacher. She can be over-critical of apprentices, expecting them to meet her high standards.

Experience level: Low, has not mentored before and is currently trying to find his niche
Activity level: Flexible, likely high towards February!
Notes:
As stared above, Brightpetal is currently trying to find where their skillset lies! They're likely currently average at hunting and fighting with a special interest moreso in the cultural and social aspects of clanlife.

Potential plots for apprenticeship: n/a, i'd like for truffle to get a confidence arc later but thats abt it
Activity level: flexible, more on the casual side as of right now but i can match my mentors pace if paired with a higher activity! :-)
Notes: would do better with a stricter mentor as a lax/laid-back one will only hinder their progress!

Activity level: He will be my Thunder main so Leafkit can be silly casual!
Notes: If you want an apprentice to be a full on ShadowClan hater, this is the mentor for you!

Potential plots for apprenticeship: grizzlypaw has some troubling family drama atm that may make it difficult for him to stay focused on his training
grizzlypaw finds applying his teachings to be easy, and gets rather bored and distracted during trainings if he is not actively challenged
grizzlypaw is a pacifist in it comes to combat, but will find his most valuable skill in hunting!
Activity level: flexible
Notes: grizzlypaw forms attachments to consistent adults around him very easily, and gets clingy

Name: Dustrunner
Experience level: Low/Medium. He's never mentored anyone, but has a lot of worldly knowledge and is a pretty good hunter. He's a decent ranger as well.
Activity level: Primary, Flexible. I'd like to say High priority, but I'm still getting the hang of things!
Notes: Dusty adores the idea of an apprentice, and getting to watch them grow and maybe even outpace him! He's cheerful and observant, but is also a terrible example what with how highly he thinks of himself and his charming ways. Regardless, he'll be a very active presence in his apprentice's life and would do anything for them.

 

[GHOSTSTRIKE]

Name: Ghoststrike
Experience level: Medium (would be high, but his lack of certain knowledge-- like what a fox or hawk is-- due to his upbringing puts him at a disadvantage)
Activity level: Flexible/High-ish.
Notes: Currently Ghost is able to cover all the basics a mentor should need to pass on-- combat, hunting, stealth, discipline, and so on. However, due to being raised in a city until very recently, he lacks the full experience of a forest cat, which means he isn't as well versed on recognizing different types of predators or understanding certain elements of the 'natural' world. This will change over time, but for now it should be noted that he still isn't as 'caught up' on some things as he is others.

 

[SUNPAW]

Name: Sunpaw
Potential plots for apprenticeship: Nope
Activity level: casual/flexible (wanted to have a cat I could toss in threads that Ghost wouldn't be good for)
Notes: He'd pair well with anyone, but he wants to be a super-cool warrior and would most appreciate someone who could teach him a bunch.

Name: @Dreampaw.
Potential plots for apprenticeship: For starters, he's a prankster and likes causing trouble so there's plenty of potential for plots of pranks either backfiring, going wrong, getting himself or someone else hurt, and/or getting in trouble for shenanigans. His Dark Warrior persona will evolve and change overtime depending on his own personal growth and how he molds himself and his persona to reflect the traits and cats he admires most. I'm not looking for a mentor who would completely shut down or force Dreampaw to change or stop his Dark Warrior 'delusions' as they are a key part to his current identity but it is fine if his mentor doesn't fully accept it, like it, or asks him suppress it when he's going overboard or the moment doesn't call for it, etc.

Would love a plot where a training session/patrol/border skirmish/etc turns disastrous and Dreampaw's overconfidence nearly costs a him or a clanmate their life forcing his mentor to give a strong reprimand that leaves Dreampaw reeling. Dreampaw would hold a petty grudge and not take the blame for anything, likely causing a rift between himself and his mentor until they finally have a heart-to-heart confrontation (here I would like Dreampaw to become a stronger cat by instead of not taking blame and making excuses, he learns that even the 'Dark Warrior' can learn to admit when he's wrong and show remorse and so on effectively learning true strength isn't empty bravado but the willingness to learn and take responsibility. Bonus points if his mentor can also share a mistake they've made in their past and how it taught them something). I don't intend on making him a evil-aligned character despite his obsession with the concepts of darkness/evil/death and the contemplation of life after death/and so on but he may go down a bloodier path than usual. Since the canon warrior code of: "An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense" doesn't exist/isn't abided by (except Skyclan) then in every real battle Dreampaw participates in, he will attempt to kill or maim/very much harm or frighten others as a form of 'ultimate victory' to show his own and Thunderclan's strength not necessarily because he is truly evil and wants other cats to die but due to believing that it is the best outcome of a battle. He would stop the practice if the code was implemented or if directly asked to stop by his superiors. I see Dreampaw being a cat who excels in battle, strategy, (and storytelling and not so much hunting, tracking, and diplomacy (it's not that he's unfriendly or un-charismatic but I can't imagine strangers taking well to his theatrics and grand speeches), so a mentor who can play to those strengths but still round out his skillset would be great.

Name: @Boarkit (will be a paw come the next meeting!!)
Potential plots for apprenticeship:

• Boar is a strange little fella, he has a very promenant underbite, polydactyly and also has the grandiose trait. so throughout his apprenticeship, he's going to be dealing with the physical and emotional growing pains that come with the hand he's been dealt in life.
• Despite this, he is very very gentle, the idea of having to fight or attack another cat genuinely scares him. he's very likely to become a skilled fighter given his stature, extra claws and jutted out teeth, so its a hurdle he's going to struggle to overcome as he adapts to the reality of what being a warrior is in spite of his nature.
• Hes also trusting, a little too much, likely wouldn't bat an eye at a what could very likely be a bad or dangerous call from his mentor or another higher up as he has almost a blind faith in those he trusts, which can really be anyone who treats him kindly.
• He also downplays any issues or especially injuries he might have, he has the philosophy of "someone always has it worse than me" so even if something upsets or hurts him in some way, particularly in training, he wont speak out about it, not wanting to cause any fuss.
• in general, he has no completely set plots but moreso key traits that drastically impact his training and in turn plots can be discussed specifically or develop IC

Activity level: Flexible (I'm graduating in about a months time so activity will be a little slower this next month but past that ill be pretty consistently active!!)
Notes: More or less a big preference to someone who can handle a little guy going through an insane growth spurt and how that impacts his warrior training!!

Potential plots for apprenticeship: Starlightpaw will sort through her beliefs during her apprenticeship and eventually realise that what her parents taught them is right. I would prefer a mentor who can help her with that.
Activity level: flexible, she's a casual character
Notes: Their parents believe she is a blessing from Starclan and they have a very warped view on Starclan.

Activity level: Flexible
Notes: She's actually a piece of garbage. Also lacking in every other warriorly-aspect that actually makes a warrior a warrior. Doesn't like going on patrols, cant hunt very well, the only thing she's good at is poking around with herbs and being weird. But fuck it, give her an apprentice. I guess I did wanna speed-run her getting exiled or jumped in a back alley.

She's not a nice person, and she doesn't like kits either. On the bright side she is competitive and any apprentice of hers better damn well be worth their salt, cause she doesnt take half-assery. Will maybe push to be a little better if its to win Juniperstars favor (cause frick u serpentberry but also call me sweetheart we can talk about this.)
