LET ME GLIMPSE INSIDE YOUR VELVET BONES
She has been waiting for what feels like an eternity now and she's getting tired of it. She wants to go home, back to her parents. She briefly wonders why her housefolk would even leave it here in the first place, though she doesn't find an answer to it. Is her housefolk even coming back? She assumed they would because she couldn't find a reason for them to just… leave her here. But… they aren't back yet and she doesn't want to wait anymore. She wants to go home now! Her ear flicks as she gets an idea: If her housefolk won't take her home again, she'll go back home on her own! Of course she doesn't know where exactly home is, but finding its way back couldn't be this hard, right? First she should get away from the thunderpath. She doesn't like it, it's loud and stinks. It only stayed here because she thought her housefolk would come back, but now she doesn't want to wait any longer.

She's been going for a while now, but no luck so far. No sight of her home and no sign of where she needs to go. It seems like she has to admit she is lost. She has no idea where she should go and that's the definition of being lost. What should it do now? Oh, what's that? She heard something that distracts her momentarily from her musings. It's another cat. Oh, maybe they know what she should do now! It should go ask them. She bounces over to them, excited to meet another cat despite everything. It's the first cat she meets that isn't her mother, her father or her brother, so it's exciting nonetheless. "Hiii! Whos you? 'M Haunting!" She introduces herself. It doesn't give the other much time to say anything, before continuing. "Am lost. Yous knows where to go?"

Timberfrost, for once in his life, was on a walk for no particular reason. His pelt stuck up in wild ways, untamed from a long day of wrangling small kits that had gotten far too excited to explore the camp. The ache in his bones was not one that could be satisfied by sleeping, and so he settled on spending some time alone instead. The pocosin wasn't the best walking place, he'd much rather watch the river, but Timber had to make do with the sights that he could get to from the camp. That is, he wanted to go on a sort of sight-seeing walk, but quickly an unfamiliar smell stole his attention and he found himself following it. The chocolate tabby nearly followed it too intently, and he found himself pausing as a kitten scrambled underfoot, his paw elevated so he didn't crush the poor little thing.

"Oh- well, hello there!" The tom purred in surprise, tucking his back legs underneath himself as he slid to his stomach. He didn't want to frighten the young cat by being so much taller than her, and so he decided it was worth getting on its level instead of worrying about his white fur being stained. It always happened, he'd just have to groom it out later. "It's lovely to meet you, Haunting." He responded with a warm smile, not all that surprised by the strange name. It wasn't unlike many of the cats he spoke with on a day-to-day basis. "My name's Timberfrost, I live not far from here."

His fur always smelled of milk, of the freshly-born kits he had grown so used to attending to. Maybe this was why he always happened upon the littler things in life, stumbling upon every wayward soul that couldn't quite feed itself yet. He wasn't complaining, of courseout of any of his clanmates, he was likely the best to happen upon a stray kit. While he didn't think... well, most of the cats he knew would wish any ill upon such a young cat, he knew some would be better influences than others. Almost immediately, a vision of a fire red apprentice flashed in his mind, some horrible thought of his daughter convincing Haunting to start putting strange critters in others' nests. With a shudder, Timber quickly shook that thought away. That could only happen so many times, surely. After all, he shouldn't get ahead of himself with every stray cat he found. As far as he knew, she was some kit from across the border that needed to be returned.

"Well, it depends." He said warmly, cocking his head to the side as he studied the she-cat with strange eyes. They were striking for sure, so very bright against the dark fur of its face. "Where—or whoare you looking for?"

LET ME GLIMPSE INSIDE YOUR VELVET BONES
"Hii, Timberfrost!" She greets the tom again. He seems really nice! Oh, maybe they could be friends! Having a friend she can play with would be great. Playing with her brother Ghost was really fun too, well at least until the twolegs took him away. She doesn't know why, but her parents said it's normal and happens to everyone. Still, it misses its brother and playing with him. Sure, playing with her parents is fun too, but it's not the same. She's getting distracted again. For now she should concentrate on actually finding her home. Then she can focus on other things.

"'M lookin' for home! They left me, so 'm goin' home now." She explains. Surely he must know where she should go next. He's an adult and adults know things like this. But… what if he doesn't? Well, if he really doesn't know where her home is, he must know what else to do. It's barely able to suppress a yawn. She hadn't noticed how tired she is. She has been walking for quite a while now, so it's probably no surprise. Hopefully she's home soon. There are plenty places at home where she can take a nap.

The excitement of the little kit surprised him a bit, but it was a welcome, refreshing surprise. A warm grin split his face as Haunting greeted him, and he couldn't help but respond. "Hiii, Haunting." Timber echoed with a chuckle, watching as the kit's eyes all but glazed over entirely. Timberfrost couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking about, but he always found the way kittens could get so distracted absolutely adorable. He was a caretaker for a reason, after all.

His brows furrowed slightly at its response to his question, though. It didn't exactly help him much, but he couldn't expect a kit to know exactly what he needed to know to help. Either way, he nodded like it did help, even uttering a small "Ah, I see..." to sell the illusion. "Well, I'm sure I can help you..." He began to trail off as he watched the little thing yawn—goodness, she must be exhausted. He doubted she knew how long she'd been lost...

'Or maybe even abandoned', a small voice in his mind whispered. For her sake, he wished she hadn't been. Gently, the tom patted the ground with his paw. "Why don't you sit with me and tell me about this home of yours." He said with a smile. 'Haunting should rest some.' He was thinking, watching the slight tremble in her frame that seemed to go unnoticed by her. 'I'll figure out how to help in the meanwhile.'

She knew it! She knew he would be able to help her! "Oh-kay!" She says and settles down next to him with another hearty yawn. It's really tired, so she's glad she can rest some before continuing on her way home. She could even sleep now, though a nap would have to wait until it's home again. She's sure it wouldn't take long for her to fall asleep, if it would close its eyes now, but she wants to be home first before actually sleeping.

Timberfrost asked her to describe her home, which makes sense because he probably hadn't seen its home yet. She can do this for him! "Uhh, it's like a huuuge twoleg den!" Okay maybe she can't really describe her her home for him. Well she could describe the inside of the twoleg den it lives in. It's huge from inside! There are these tree things it can sharpen its claws on and they're really comfortable too. And there are lots of soft, comfortable places to sleep on. And there are lots of places to hide in. And there lots of windows she can see the garden from. And there are these [abrr=pictures]these things that are kind of like windows, but not really.[/abbr] These things are kind of weird, but that's what she likes about them. However it doesn't really think this would help Timberfrost find her home. She never saw her home from the outside, so she can't describe this to him.

repay me,
in kind

Unlike Timberfrost, Bluegale frequents the pocosin on his own terms. Whether it is more likely that he is trying to burn off some of his excessive energy, or he is off trying to find the biggest (of course) piece of prey to put on the freshkill pile (or some other piece of bounty) is as simple as a flip of a coin. So he is surprised to find Timberfrost wandering around on his own. What he is not surprised to find is that Timberfrost has apparently picked up another randomly dispensed kitten on ShadowClan territory.

"What have you got?" he asks the caretaker, but finds that his question is quickly overriden by the kitten's answer to their origin. A kittypet that's been left out in the swampland. Not too particularly out of the ordinary, but ShadowClan is a far cry from what he has heard the cushy life of a kittypet is like. Unhelpfully, Bluegale blinks at Haunting and states flatly: "Your twolegs are probably not coming back for you." With no concept of how troubling of a comment this could be to hear at such a young age.

/ excuse him he is sooo stupid <3
