Afterlife Check-In

Does your character have a friend, family member etc...who is dead as part of their backstory? These characters can also be checked-in to be roleplayed as well in our afterlife under the following conditions!

Character must have a living Connection (relative, lover, close friend, etc. cannot be a random acquaintance or connectionless)

Character must be referenced, at least ONCE, in a post from said Connection, be it a memory, a backwritten oneshot in which they interacted when they were alive, their actual death scene, etc... (include the post with your check-in!)

These characters DO qualify for the 'Life Well Lived' badge and should immediately be posted to our afterlife census when approved.

Please reference the Character Check-In Information Thread for the form and details that are still expected with all check-ins and then post below with your backwritten Afterlife Cat!

Pine was dead.

Pine was dead, and her body had betrayed her. Black's fur was matted and thinned, her ribs showing through even her long pelt. Her milk had dried up. Despite Patch and Gray doing their best to help the family, and her mates' attentiveness, there simply wasn't enough prey to go around. Pine had suffered and withered away, and this morning, he hadn't woken.

Black had buried him, not wanting his body to become prey for a scavenger. When they returned, she would tell Dune and Martinez where his body rested. The body of their only child, gone thanks to this sorry excuse for a colony. Following a cat with all but his tail-tip in the grave! Sable had spoken true - Hawthorne didn't care about those who starved. He would never make for a decent leader. They needed someone with an eye to the future- like Sable. There were whispers among the colony cats that perhaps the black and white tom was more than just talk.

When Dune and Martinez returned, she would tell them of her decision.

The familiar scent of her mates reached her nose, and she looked over to see the two toms padding back to their shared nest.

"Pine died," she mewed, her voice hoarse from her earlier crying. "I'll... I buried him. I'll take you there, but I... we need to talk first."

BLACKTREE
​ Damn your love, damn your lies ​

Blacktree was one of the first to follow Tinberfrost out of camp. The death of Pine was not so far away that she had forgotten what it was like to feel hunger, to watch as a kit tried to suckle at empty teats. With no current litter of her own, she would help provide for those who needed it.

Blacktree would not tolerate another death like Pine's, slow and painful.

As Timberfrost gave them their orders, she stuck to the edges of the ponds, looking among cattails and reeds for prey. Her long fur was already clumped and thick with mud, but the discomfort was worth it if she could catch some prey for the nursing queens. A reed rustled with the croak of a frog, and she dropped to a hunting stance.

Closer, closer, and...

Though her stance was perfectly adequate, the frog splashed into the water as her paws landed on the peaty ground. Blacktree swore under her breath, tail whisking in fury as she stalked off to another part of the ponds in search of prey.
