Still so young, Desperate for attention!

indentttIt's cold enough, now, that Mothbite can see the warm air leave his mouth as he speaks. "Alright, get over here." Everyone is working hard, anticipating the bitter Leafbare, and the hunger pangs they expect it to bring. With Wolfpack so busy organizing hunting patrols, the matters of Shadowclan's borders falls to the rest of the council. Today, the task goes to the Night Guard's least experienced member. Mothbite stands on a small stone to address the gathered cats. He won't dare to stand on the branches where Sablestar gives his announcements, but he needs a little extra height, if he wants to look over the crowd at all.

indenttt"Wolfpack said I'm in charge of border patrols, today." He mews. It's less of a brag about his position, and more of a plea for the other cats to listen to him. After so many moons as Night Guard, Mothbite still isn't quite used to having authority. Still, he keeps his chin up, and puffs out his chest a little. These cats might not respect him, but they probly respect Wolfpack. He's hoping it's enough to get everyone following directions.

indenttt "Thunderclan border is probably the most important." It's the only direct neighbor they have any tension with, as far as Mothbite is concerned. "Needledrift, lead a group to check over there. We don't need any stinking forest cats crossing over to steal our stuff." Not that there's much he can imagine they'd want to steal. They've probably got all the mice in the world to eat, over there. There's no need for them to stoop to eating frogs and skinks.

indenttt"Windclan border's next. Things were, uh, pretty sticky, last time I went." Aside from the foul Twoleg gunk, there was all the mud and branches washed onto the Thunderpath by the storms. "Marbleshine, you should go check that out." Mothbite trusted her enough to know that she wouldn't start trouble with their supposed allies. "Careful crossing the Thunderpath. That place is nasty."

indenttt"Someone's gotta go to Fourtrees too, I guess." Man, just the thought of going back to that place makes his fur stand on end. Good thing he's handing out patrols, not going on them. "Snakefang, can you handle that? Don't go alone, obviously." Was there anyone in this clan who didn't have terrible memories there? Mothbite's mind draws a blank, so he blurts out names at random "Take Stoatstream and Mirepurr, alright? Have fun."

indenttt"This last patrol is gonna be the longst, I think. Somebody needs to check the far border, the one that doesn't border another clan. Look on the bright side, though!" He flashes his fangs in a toothy smile. "That means that border is pretty much uncontested. Nobody's gonna scold you if you cross over, heh." Mothbite is almost jealous. It's not often he gets to leave the marsh - he wonders what sort of prey lives in the land beyond that border.

indenttt"Okay, that's it." Mothbite stands up, stretching dramatically. There's other things he was supposed to do today, he's sure of it. Maybe something with Monsterpaw? "Move out, I got stuff to do here."

THUNDERCLAN
- @Needledrift @viperhowl @bluegale @Belladonnadance @Crowpaw

It's your lucky day! There's a fat-looking beaver laying by the Thunderpath, having been struck by a Monster. Bad news, it's on Thunderclan's side of the border. Going over to get it risks getting caught by Thunderclan, and trying to carry the heavy prey back risks getting struck by another monster. But is such a good find worth giving up?

WINDCLAN - @Marbleshine @Snowdropheart @Frogheart

The storms plauging the moor are gone, but they've left a mark on the earth that still hasn't faded. As you climb the hill that leads to the Windclan border, the wet ground beneath your paws begins to collapse, threataning to sweep you up in a mudslide.

FOURTREES - @Snakefang @Stoatstream @MIREPURR @moonflowerpaw

It's been almost 12 whole moons since the war here. Do you spend time reminicing on the good times before the famine, or are you haunted by the specter of what happened. Maybe you don't know extactly what happened here, and are left wondering why your patrolmates are so deep in memories.

FAR BORDER - @Sealdawn @Hollowmist @ECHOSTEP @Blightpaw

This is the longest side of Shadowclan's borders, by no small margin. Surveying the whole thing will take a long time. Still, the idea of checking out what lies beyond the territories of the clans might be to big a chance to let up. Do you hustle to finish the job, or spend time exploring the great beyond?

Marbleshine sat diligently, a faint smile resting on her muzzle as she watched Mothbite address the Clan. There was a quiet sense of pride in her chest, the young Night Guard had grown into such a capable, thoughtful cat. He was not only her friend, but also a kind one. With each assignment he gave, she nodded along, content to simply listen until her own name was called. Her breath hitched. Patrol leader? Sky-blue eyes widened, her gaze flickering to the other leaders being named, Needledrift, Snakefang, Sealdawn... And her. Her.

A rush of doubt fluttered in her chest. Could she really do this? Was she ready? But then she reminded herself of who would be with her, Snowdropheart and Frogheart, two steady, reliable cats who knew the pocosin like their own pelts. That would be enough. She could do this. Drawing in a trembling breath, Marbleshine lifted her chin and forced a small, reassuring smile. " R-right.. " she meowed softly. " We'll check it out. "

She limped toward Frogheart, tail flicking with quiet determination, and offered a warm smile. " We'll be careful. " she added, voice gentle but certain. " Let's make sure we bring everyone home safe. "

When you're lost in the universe, lost in the universe, don't lose faith
My mother says, "Your whole life's in the paws of the Stars"

Hm, a shame... Tickfrost felt that small sting of frustration in his chest as the patrol names were listed. His torn ear flicked once, the faintest scowl crossing his face before he sighed through his nose. No job for him today, it seemed, not one from Mothbite, anyway. Still, he wasn't the sort to sit around and twiddle his paws. There was always something to do, a mouth to feed, a scent to follow, a task to keep his paws moving and his mind from idling too long.

Stretching out his limbs, he pushed himself to his paws and padded toward Stoatstream, orange hues softening the moment they landed on her. For all his rough edges, there was always gentleness when it came to her. His fur brushed lightly against hers as he leaned closer. " Be careful at Fourtrees.. " he murmured, voice low enough for only her to hear. " Sealdawn got into a nasty encounter there not too long ago.. " There was the faintest tug of worry in his chest, something he quickly masked with a half-smile.

Pulling away, he made his way to Mirepurr, his pelt brushing faintly against theirs in greeting. A soft purr escaped him, quieter than most, but sincere. " You be careful out there, Mirepurr. And... Good luck out there. " he added, dipping his head respectfully. There was affection in his tone, buried beneath the steady calm of a cat used to hiding it.

Tickfrost lingered for a moment in the open space of camp, orange eyes tracking the patrols as they gathered themselves. His paws twitched, restless, eager for movement. There would be no lounging about today, not while prey still needed catching and his sister was still healing. With a small huff, he turned toward the medicine den, tail flicking behind him. First things first, he'd check on Fleafire. Make sure she was doing alright. Then... Then he'd see what the forest still had to offer him.

Run boy run! The sun will be guiding you
Run boy run! They're dying to stop you
Run boy run! This race is a prophecy
Run boy run! Break out from society

Wait... Wait, wait, wait. Did he hear that correctly? His blue eyes widened as he peered over at Mothbite, trying and failing to not to look excited. No patrol. No patrol for him! He was free! ...Wait. No, he probably wasn't. Not really. That depended entirely on what Wolfpack had in store for him. His gaze flicked across camp until it found the massive tom, and his ears pricked despite himself. Part of him definitely wanted to stretch out and nap the day away, but the other part... Yeah, the other part was already walking before his brain caught up.

He cursed himself quietly under his breath. Because he knew, knew, that the second he opened his mouth, the idea of lounging around would vanish faster than freshkill on an empty belly. And yet... Here he was. " Heyy, Wolfy. " Flamerunner's grin flashed bright and easy as he padded up, tail flicking lazily behind him. " What's the plan for today, huh? I heard you're not on any patrol either. You gonna lounge? " He leaned in a little closer, mischief glinting in his icy eyes. " Listen, I found some sick shades during that two leg place run. You gotta see how blitz I look with 'em on. "

A beat of silence passed, then his grin widened into a teasing smirk. " Serious question though. " he added, head tilting. " If Sablestar dropped down right now and said you could skip one responsibility forever, what's the first thing you'd throw in the dirt? Patrols, paperwork, or... " his tail brushed the tom's shoulder. " Babysitting me? "

Frogheart watched Mothbite organize the patrols with mild interest. His belly was empty, his frame thin under thick fur. While it would be nice to keep her paws busy, hop wasn't sure he was up for another hunting patrol. He perked up at the thought of being on a border patrol. She'd been doing nothing but hunting and worrying about food, it seemed. It would be nice to just do a simple patrol along Windclan's border. His gaze drifted from Mothbite - who, hop thought, did not seem entirely comfortable with his current duty - to Marbleshine and then to Snowdropheart. Another patrol with his kin - couldn't argue with that. She was a bit surprised about Marbleshine as the leader of the patrol, though. She was a perfectly capable warrior, but having a wounded cat lead a border patrol seemed a bit risky. Regardless, when Marbleshine approached him, hop gave her a friendly nod.

"Of course," he smiled, feeling confident. Windclan wouldn't be any kind of threat, especially with the storms they'd been subjected to. Mothbite's warnings of it being sticky and nasty didn't phase hop. She'd been born and raised in the pocosin. He was used to muddy paws. "Let's get going."
