LEADER OF SKYCLAN

.

Hawkstar would never say that she trusted Fujimoto. He was fool-hardy, and a coward by the high stands she had set for her own clan, and therefore he came off more mouse than mighty warrior. He still carried his kittypet name, as if it were some badge of honor instead of a brand against the very clan that took him in.

But despite all that… she had still allowed this to happen.

Here she sits, at the very edge of the Twolegplace with the hairs on the back of her neck standing up. This was not the Twolegplace of her former daylight warriors. Flowercloud's old flame did not live here. Meadowlark and Coffeestar had not retired back to peaceful lodgings in this place. If she delved into each of the nests along the straight-path roads here, she would not find Maiseyleg's housefolk or Tawnybeam's pictures upon any mantle. This was a Twolegplace that she could not claim, even in vestiges and false pretenses. Here, she would have to abide by the rules offered to her.

And Hawkstar did not like that at all.

"I hope your friend is more conversational than they are punctual, else I would feel like I wasted quite a bit of my day for nothing." Hawkstar snipped towards her patched lead warrior, annoyed, anxious. There were only so many places Hawkstar could hide the body of Lacey within her mind. It was harder to forget her when - so close to a facsimile of her origin - she could feel Lacey's suffocating collar around her neck again.

I WAS PULLING OUT MY HAIR THE DAY I GOT THE DEAL - CHEMICALLY CALM

He is halfway under the fence when he actually catches the scent, pausing midcrawl to tilt his chin up and shake his head to dislodge one of his floppy ears where it had folded over his eye and briefly blinded him. Fujimoto was a not so uncommon presence here lately and he recognized the other toms scent without a lot of effort but the other...mm. The other was a little different. Same pine forest thicket forest smell that the SkyClan cats he'd met before had but part of him imagined the thickets where this cat walked had thorns. Wriggling in place the spotted blue tabby rose to stand to his impressive one foot height and waddle over, every step a light bounce and his copper washed eyes widening as he spotted the pair. Next to Fujimoto the other cat had a more regal, authoritative posture than the more casual fellow at her side. She was intimidating right at the start but he masked any worry he might have with a smile, short tail swaying as he bobbed over, "Hey Fujimoto, who is your friend?"

LEADER OF SKYCLAN

.

Hawkstar would rather bite off her own tongue than allow any of her warriors to speak for her, let alone Fujimoto. The least impressive of her council, and the least intimidating... but he had lead her to this. Still, she stands with her head high, towering over her lead warrior in attitude if not in stature alone.

"My name is Hawkstar, leader of SkyClan. I hear you are a leader in your own respects, so we have come with a proposition for you and yours." The pointed torbie allows herself a curt nod to this ... leader's ... claim to his title, though she can't imagine that his clan is any more legitimate than the pretenders on the other side of Fourtrees.

"SkyClan has a long history of proud warriors in her ranks that come from Twolegplaces like this ... like yours. We were hoping to continue that here in our new home and I hear that you are the key to this domain. If you could spread the word to your clan and their friends that SkyClan is opening their borders to cats willing to learn and grow into our traditions, perhaps we could set an alliance between ourselves? There is some band of rogues going around that has been terrorizing our borders, so I don't doubt they'd be invading yours. I could offer warriors for your safety and food to your bellies, as a token of my appreciation for your cooperation."

She speaks definitively, and defiantly. No matter what title this cat may or may not have given himself, there was no denying where Hawkstar put herself in the pecking order, and she did well to make sure her chosen position would be recognized and respected. Even if the stranger in front of her had nothing to do with her wounded pride in the new forest.

I WAS PULLING OUT MY HAIR THE DAY I GOT THE DEAL - CHEMICALLY CALM

"Hi Hawkstar, I'm Fizzystar!" Her name was very fitting, she certainly had the look of a hawk with her sharp features and piercing eye. She was very to the point, part of him admired it and the other part was a little scared by it! Such a serious cat, her expression never changed from one of neutral dignity, he got the feeling she wasn't very impressed by him but he was pretty little so Fizzystar was used to it really. His floppy ears twitched as she spoke, taking it all in carefully and with as much focus as he could muster; this was serious business after all it seemed. An alliance with forest cats, it would be beneficial because they lacked a proper force to deal with rogues and the like and especially those wretched Rustclaws.
"Do these rogues reek of twoleg trash and blood scent? They frequent the junkyard near here as their territory and have been making a mess of our nests here for moons." His stub tail flicked, a small show of irritation that did little to make him look any less a plush toy having a conversation with a real cat, "I am happy to accept an alliance, we don't need food as we are happily fed by our twolegs and it would be unfair to take from you who has to hunt for yours, but I think helping us learn to fight and defend would be a good trade off. I'll let my clan know to spread the word that any able bodied kittypet who wants to try their paw in the wilds is to seek you out."

It felt like getting his paw caught in the prey-pile again, coming here with Hawkstar. Though she certainly did not trail in his shadow, his steps spoke with more certainty than her's when it came to their sense of direction. Fujimoto had roamed the streets of this twolegplace few times but it was not so different from the one he used to tromp around in. Perhaps seeing one twolegplace meant one had seen them all, but even he would admit their former home did not have all the nice amenities like these kittypets had.

"W-Well, you'll understand, um, when y-you see him." Fujimoto internally cringed, not wanting to undermine Fizzystar for his shorter stature. Hawkstar was a woman quick to judge, though, and he would allow her to make her own assessment without him trying to sugarcoat anything. The less he appeared to tamper with, the better. The less of his voice Hawkstar heard, the better; at least in this moment.

Fizzystar does trot along, though, and the Sun Guard met the floppy-eared tom with a delighted smile. "Hi Fizzystar!" They simply mew and step back for the tortie king to speak. And so she does, making a very pointed speech of SkyClan's history. It does not sound so unlike her spitting words to the other Clans beneath the full moon, though her mouth is less bloodied. Her tone does not seethe when regarding her ranks of kittypets, however, and that maintains the smile on Fuji's maw.

"Th-thank you again, Fizzystar. I'm, ah, glad t-t-to see our allyship mended s-so smoothly." Fujimoto dipped their head gently. Even if his WarriorClan was a fictitious inspiration of their own, the local kittypets still looked to him with respect after all.

LEADER OF SKYCLAN

.

Hawkstar allowed herself to give the little pretend-leader a nod. The headache of having to train clumsy, lazy kittypets would be well-worth the manpower in the end, and with Duskpool's hardened training senses, surely the process would not take very long. At the very least, it would not take long to separate out the promising warriors from the soft-hearts and oafs.

I appreciate your candor." the pointed king says, and for a flicker of a moment, it looks as though it's a true compliment. Rare, and given to a strange kittypet no less.

"Fujimoto will continue to be our go-between. His tact and grace between our clans is something I lack." Two compliments, was she feeling alright in the head? "Tell him if you need us, any time."

And then, without so much as an explanation or an excuse for the two compliments and kind tone, she turns, her tail flicking for her guard to follow her back into the recesses of the pine forest. She had gotten what she wanted out of the interaction. A prospective army. Bodies to place between her warriors and the bloodthirsty. This was how Hawkstar saw allegiance: beneficial to her clan and herself first, and if it would help out another, that was just a reward for following her lead. But still, even Hawkstar, with her cold, brutal heart, could admit that it might be fun to see little Fizzystar learn a sky-drop, just for the thrill of knowing how to do it.

The thought alone put a smile on her turned away face.
