"So." Maybe it's the absence of their clanmates, the lack of some of the usual chatter, but Snailpaw's voice feels like it rings through camp with a finality they're not expecting. They're one of the cats that had stayed behind, watching where the group had left for- they're not really sure what they're watching for.
Not that they're watching for anything, now- with the silence that follows, they duck their head down as they turn to look at their clanmates, expression shifting to something a bit more sheepish. "I was just- wondering." They begin, forcing their voice a bit quieter now that they don't have to try so hard to be hard.
"Do you think they're having fun out there?" Snailpaw's tone isn't exactly wistful- more genuinely curious than anything. "What do you think they're talking about?" And then, just like that, it's like a switch is flicked; Snailpaw lets the idea linger before a grin is stretching across their face.
"I think that the Shadowclan medicine cat and the Riverclan deputy are-" Are what? They falter for just a second, mind trying to come up with something.
"I think they're long lost siblings. And one of 'em only found out tonight."
They didn't actually, but what would some harmless gossip hurt?
