// ooc, this takes place at roughly the same time as the bison herd thread (here), but can also double as return thread for those in the bison herd thread once yall are done!
Owlbear is not… she is not panicking. In a moment of weakness, she'd dozed off sometime during high sun, and now, one of her children is gone. Finchkit is nowhere to be seen. Oh, why did the stars have to bless her with such adventurous children…? She steps out of the nursery and glances around the camp, and not spotting Finchkit, her chest tightens uncomfortably. No, Finch… Finch was fine. She was being silly. She was probably just hiding somewhere. But despite what Owl tries to tell herself, the fear creeps up on her, grips her by the heart and won't let go. The fear of losing more of her family than she already has.
"Has anyone seen my little bird, my little finch? I…" she lets out a cough, and her chest tightens again, like tunnels collapsing under too much pressure. "Oh, for goodness sake–" a wheeze. Why was it so humid? "Finch, where are you hidin'? Don't go scarin' your mother like this anymore, or I–" her chest tightens, this time painfully so, and she begins to cough again, each one of them more painful than the last.
Her legs begin to shake as she tries to stop coughing, to catch her breath, but nothing seems to work. She begins to see little black spots floating in the edges of her vision.
