CROWPAW
Crowpaw is a small cat with a bitter and reserved personality. They are known for being reclusive, a troubled child, and an instigator. Just underneath their antagonistic surface, however, lies a heartbroken kid who just wants to feel normal again. They are slowly but surely learning to open up, but it will take quite some time for them to heal from their past, as well as the consequences of their own actions...

✧ Crowpaw is a black cat with a singular patch of white upon their forehead. He is a bit smaller than average, a result of being the runt of his litter. Her fur is often unkempt and wild, and her eyes are a silvery hue. Their whiskers are white and look a bit too big on their small face.
( + ) understanding, empathetic [only for the right cats...] ( / ) withdrawn, lonely ( - ) antagonistic, violent
✧ Crowpaw isn't known for niceties. He doesn't have casual conversations, nor does he try to play nice or make friends. He's often rude or passive-aggressive when spoken to. Essentially, a huge pain in the ass. A lot of his time is spent sneaking off or sulking in a corner. Sometimes, however, there is another side of Crowpaw that can shine through her mask of angst, one that is much less hostile. She feels the need to protect kittens and the disadvantaged, an instinct that she inherited from her mother and a result of her own understanding of loss, grief, and pain. While they might still be very bad at showing their better side, still unable to crack their own protective shell, if a cat is patient enough with them then they just might open up a bit... probably.

Among the tales and lessons that Crow's mother spoke of, huddled with their siblings underneath the star-speckled night sky, was one of the dangers and disasters in the world. Their 'ma warned of creatures much larger than cats, beats that were fueled only by bloodthirst that were to be avoided at all costs. One such example was the canine predator that their 'ma had called 'coyotes'.
It was twilight when Crow and his family was awoken by the sounds of howling and heavy paws against the earth. The very thing that his 'ma had tried to warn them all about was here to take all of them away. Crow wanted to fight the coyote, despite the thing being about three times bigger than him, a vain attempt to protect them all from their horrible fate. But just as the beast approached him, ready to pick him off the ground like his siblings had been, his 'ma stood between them and begged him to run. Her final words were a command for Crow to take shelter in the forest nearby, to hide amongst the foliage and weave between the trees until the coyote lost track of his scent. The sight of the coyote's blood-stained jaws sunk neatly into his mother's flesh is a sight that he will likely never forget, and it was one that finally spurred him into motion, running as fast as his paws could carry him. He is certain, after what he had seen, that he is the sole survivor of the incident.
At first, Crow was shellshocked, unable to process what had truly happened. But after being found by a ShadowClan patrol and brought to their camp, the weight of it all came crashing down. Even after being granted the name Crowpaw and becoming a permanent resident of the Clan, she remains haunted by nightmares of what she had heard and seen, and the anguish that she feels knowing she'll never see any of them again continues to be something that she drowns in. Constantly, she feels as though she needs to watch her back. As if the coyote is still searching for her, even after a full moon passes, then two. She trusts no one. Does what she wants. Gets into trouble. Anything to distract her from the grief that she feels when she has to sit with her own thoughts.
In their attempts to distract and suppress their feelings, they of inevitably end up unleashing it all in an outburst of rage. The unwitting victim of said outburst happened to be a WindClan apprentice who had made them angry in the past during a border patrol in which Crowpaw believed him to be stealing prey. The fight is bloody and ends abruptly, with Crowpaw narrowly escaping what could have been fatal consequences. It's only when they arrive back home to find some of their Clanmates incredibly worried that they begin to look inside themself and wonder why they are acting this way - and more importantly, how they can stop it. After all, their 'ma had tried her best to raise them to be good, and the idea of her being ashamed of them after what she'd sacrificed for them makes them feel an overwhelming sense of guilt.
Unsure how to continue forward with all these mixed feelings, Crowpaw just wants to go through the motions. They don't want to burden anyone with their feelings, but they wish desperately to be seen and to atone for their mistakes...

!! trigger warning for death and mentions of gore !!
✧ In the land beyond the forest, baby Crow and their siblings were born to their mother, a loner. Their early moons were simple for the most part - it wasn't exactly glamorous, but Crow did not care much. Even as a kitten, they were somewhat aggressive and snappy, and their mother did their best to correct their behavior, though they often didn't listen to what she would try to teach them... perhaps if they'd only had more time to grow and thrive, they would have become a well-adjusted young cat.———-,. ° ✧- HISTORY -✧ ° .-,———
