riverclan foundlings litter — closes august 1st

this story begins far out at sea. willow worked as a mouser on a ship with her siblings smoke and night for moons. when both smoke and night became pregnant, they were thrown off the ship to fend for themselves. willow followed them off, and helped create a home with them in the shipyard. when night passed, willow cared for her kits, and when smoke gave birth, she became the sole provider for her brother and family. now willowburn is a proud riverclan warrior, and while she has not been a caretaker in some time, she stumbles upon a basket of kittens one fateful night. immediately growing attached, she will parent these kits as if they are made of her own flesh and blood.

TBDkit is definitely on the small side. Even from the very moment she's found, she sticks out like a sore thumb amongst her siblings, perhaps one of the smallest. Her paws are dainty, body light as wind over water. But don't mistake her size- she's all fire and momentum, all energy and fierce purpose, packed tight into a lithe, agile frame. She's fast, both in and out of the water. She'll learn that what she lacks in size and brute strength she makes up for in speed and precision. She's never still for long. From the time she learns to walk, she moves with a kind of natural grace. It isn't always careful, but it is purposeful- her balance is sharp, her turns tight and calculated.

Her agility becomes confidence, and her confidence becomes fearlessness. Chin high, shoulders square, as if she could move mountains by just daring someone to challenge her. By the time she's full grown, she'll stand a head shorter then the average cat, but she does not let that define her. Her presence will fill the space. She's sleek and combat, built to outmaneuver and not overpower.

Her fur is short and glossy, catching light like the surface of a stream at times. It's kept pristine, not necessarily out of vanity (though that doesn't hurt,) but rather out of practicality. She hates when sand clings to her legs or the mud coats her skin, and she'll scrub it clean if she must. During greenleaf, she flourishes, her light coat helping her stay cool and dry quickly going in and out of the water of Riverclan. But in leaf-bare, she suffers with being cold, always trying to find someone else's nest to curl up in so she stays warm.

Her coloring is like something carved from riverstone and cream: her base coat starts soft, pale and creamy, then cools steadily into tones of blue-gray that deep upon her legs, tail, and head. Stripes of darker slate-gray ring her leg and tail, cutting striking lines across her cheeks and forehead, subtle but striking. Her muzzle and inner ears stay that original cream, a soft contrast that frames her sharp, alert features.

There's a soft curl of fur that's beginning to grow at the top of her head. It's unsure if it will grow longer as she grows older, but it defines her almost. Below that, two wide open and curious eyes shine blue, even as she grows older. The inside of her ears, her nose, her pawpads are all a delicate pink.

PERSONALITY - FOUNDATIONS. From an early age, she is curiosity cutthroat. Boldness in her blood, motion no matter the hour. Nearly mischievous, with an energy that overwhelms, but she is loyal, steadfast.

-> BOLDNESS, CONFIDENCE, UNYIELDING. From a young age, TBDkit sticks out. She's painted in bold stripes, a walking declaration of intent, confidence leading her forward. She's unyielding- almost stubborn, which can almost come across annoying. It's not born of rebellion for rebellion's sake. It's the kind of fierce steadiness that will have cats saying 'She'll be a good warrior one day.' Some might call her difficult, or too loud, but she's never apologized for it and never will.

-> CURIOUS, MISCHEVIOUS, ENERGETIC. She hasn't ever met a line she didn't wnat to cross- or at least push against until it wobbles and tobbles. There's a spark behind her eyes, always calculating, always a what if? on her mind. It drives her forward, that unyielding confidence hand-in-hand with this curiosity. She doesn't meant trouble by all of this, not really, but it follows her anyways, as if magnetized by her chaotic nature. There's mischief in her smile that warns you and welcomes you all at once. Rules are suggestions, and boundaries are puzzles waiting to be solved.

-> CLEVER, LOYAL, INSTINCTUAL. Given her curious drive, TBDkit sees patterns that others miss. She connects dots, pulls meaning from held silences, and seems ahead, even when she's pretending not to be. Despite the rest of her being showy, this cleverness is sharp and subtle. She thinks quickly and adapts faster. Yet, for all her wit, it's the loyalty the cuts the deepest. Once she's chosen you, good luck finding a way out. Not necessarily possessive, but in a fierce, ride or die type of way. She'll challenge you and call you out, but abandon you? Never. Beneath all of her layers, it's instinct. Pure, unfiltered knowing. SHe doesn't necessarily always have a logical explanation or an answer, but she's got a gut feeling and she trusts it.

NOTE // In the interest of time, I've shortened this personality for two reasons: One. I am running out of time, but two, I do really want to see how she'll be shaped by the clan she's brought up in. Normal note to follow: I may change pronouns personality up while I roleplay. I tend to find grooves for characters, and find it more enjoyable to roleplay them in a certain manner. This is loose, but I will be following it to a point.

FEARS AND INSPIRATIONS:

FEAR // BEING TRAPPED - Freedom comes naturally. Movement, choice, autonomy. The idea of being confined in any matter of the word is suffocating. Expectations or roles, the system that boxes her in. Will she succeed at becoming a great warrior, or will the idea just kill her spirit?

FEAR // BETRAYAL- Her true loyalty and trust isn't handed out lightly. If someone she's opened up to turns on her, it's likely it'll rattle her in a way nothing else could. She'll hide the wound well enough, but it wold shake her to the core.

FEAR // BEING A LET-DOWN - Being brought into the clan and raised as Willow's own is going to have a heavy impact upon her. Failing her mother, or her clan, is another fear of hers.

INSPRIATION // THE UNKNOWN - She needs the unexplored- new ideas, uncharted places, unfamiliar cats. It feels like a reason for living and breathing, to solve mysteries and to open up methods no other cat has. Battle, politics, den weaving- you name it.

INSPRIATION // REAL CONNECTION - Despite her independence, she's deeply moved by the genuine bonds she will form. The rare moments when she can let her guard down and be fully seen by somecat. Her loyalty isn't just a personality trait, it's a sacred thread to her.

INSPRIATION // INSTINCTUAL PULLS - More often then not, her gut feeling will be something she follows. If it feels right, she's all in. But when it doesn't, she listen there too- inspiration comes not from her logic but her alignment and rhythm.

RELATIONSHIP WITH WILLOWBURN // She'll be incredibly close to Willowburn no matter what happens, I think. Her loyalty, as spoken upon, is dug in deep, even if it's painful at times. I'd love to see a small bit of strife between them at some point (later down the line) just to play it out- like a disagreement about TBDkit's loyalty to Riverclan over her friends. Does not have to happen but would be fun!

RELATIONSHIP WITH SIBLINGS // This will also be similar to her relationship with Willowburn, but she's going to butt heads with them more often. It's almost as if she's testing their limitations, to try and push them to become better.

SEXUALITY IN LIFE // TBDkit will struggle with who she likes- is it toms? She-cats? She feels comfortable with it no matter what, especially seeing some of the relationships in camp, she just doesn't find an identity to sit with for a while.

★ A blue rosette tabby with cloud like fur and amber eyes. → A clumsy thing at first, TBD is like a cloud puff brought to life. Her spots mimicking the waves of her home as if she was always meant to be here, her tail ripples like water on the wind. She'll take to placing sprigs of plants in her fur, specifically behind her ears, perhaps she'll be more graceful later in life...or perhaps not. She has a poofy mane of pure fluff around her neck and her cheek fur flows like a water fall. Her eyes are a soft amber or yellow color and she is often found smiling.

★ Sweet, Shy, Clumsy, Pacifist, Daydreamer → Known to many as a friend, TBD would help anyone she could. Nervous around strangers or newcomers though, she's known to shy away from conversation, instead she lives with her head in the clouds. Her thoughts drift through the day in dreams and make believe more than the do reality.

Never one to harm another, TBD would be more likely to run from a fight than to stay. The sight of blood makes her sick and she wishes everyone would just get along. TBD also has a tendency to trip over her own feet or run headfirst into a wall. Half because she's not paying attention, half because she's just clumsy. This also just makes her bad at fighting so avoiding it is what she prefers. She's kind and gentle and would never hurt a fly.

Whether her daydreaming comes from a spiritual sense or just a way to explore different stories in her own head remains to be seen. But those who know her would describe her as if she were a cloud floating along in life. Never bothered, Never hurried. Content.

In this case should I wait to fully design a kit application until genetics are posted?

I would love to have a kit named after Willowburn's former family on the shipyard, Night. I'm thinking Moonkit, which I see you also suggested. If Moonkit was a bit opposite of what Night was like, the name Daykit could foster some fun dynamics. Do you have any reference material about Night or a basic overview of what she was like before she passed?

The general idea I have so far for a warrior is that they are fearful of expectations placed on them, so they often underperform and don't use their full skills. I'm brainstorming what they experienced during kithood/apprenticeship that could cause this anxiety to see if it might work for Moonkit. Depending on their siblings/other nursery kits, maybe Moonkit was a showoff and outperformed their sibling in the nursery/training, which made the other kit insecure about their lack of skills and soured their sibling relationship. Moonkit later become fearful the same will happen with those they later befriend if they act at their full skill level, so they don't, but at the same time they feel guilty because they know the clan needs their skills.
I'm also thinking Moonkit would be highly spiritual like their mother, but asks many questions about their namesake and (if they know about their birth circumstances) really wants to know where they came from/who their biological parents were. (Not that I expect they will ever find this answer.)

This is just what I was thinking so far ^^
