Snowdropheart
Let me wrap my teeth around the world.
.
Snowdropheart had noticed something strange near the edge of the territory the other day. It was getting too late in the day for her to investigate, but it had been bugging her, creeping in the corner of her mind. So when she finally had a moment to herself, she had asked Vulturesong to accompany her, telling her what she had observed.

"It was strange - it smelled of twolegs, but nothing I've ever seen near them before. Like seeds and fruits stuck together with some sort of sap wrapped in a twoleg net." she recalled, trying to describe the strange scene. "They were left hanging from the branches of the trees, I can only wonder why. Maybe the birds eat them? It's a strange tactic for sure, but as a trapper I can appreciate the cleverness of it, as long as it works."

Though the pale molly has little hope of such contraptions actually attracting any birds or rodents, she can always hope. There is nothing else left inside her in these trying times but hope and hunger. One often consumes the other, but she never truly lets go of either.

Now Snowdropheart lies hidden by a shrub, watching the clearing with a narrowed gaze. A few sparrows are flying back and forth between branches and the strange sapped-seed webs, but too quickly for her to focus. If they calmed down for a moment, perhaps her or Vulturesong could manage to catch one or two. Even that would be more than she'd originally believed in.

Snowdropheart is a warrior who she works close with, and one she has grown some interest in. The white and black warrior has been called to numerous hunting patrols as of late, which Vulturesong has kept a close ear and eye on. The information of how well a hunting patrol went increased her chances of survival. If patrols had no luck in The Barrens, then it would be a waste to check again the next sunrise. However, the place the younger warrior suggests is a strange one. By all accounts she should have rejected the younger molly, but if this could lead to a new location for her in the future . . . Perhaps taking this one and only chance may be worth it.

As Vulturesong is being led by Snowdropheart, the molly reports her find. The contraption described holds some promise. Seeds and fruits were things that birds were fond of. Perhaps the sap made it all the more alluring to them? Or was it to ensure the birds could not escape easily? Either way, her interest in this matter has increased tenfold. Although, it does occur to her that this is Frogheart's kin. A new friend. A friend that may have gone into a worried frenzy at the news of twolegs on their territory. Surely hop would've reprimanded Snowdropheart? I am not him. I see little reason in sharing this news if nothing horrid has transpired. Besides, I will make a full assessment today if it is worthy enough to share.

"Not all birds remain on the ground. Some prefer to be on the trees, away from our claws. I assume it was left hanging from the branches of trees to allure them." She glances in Snowdropheart's direction. "I doubt it would be hung if it served no purpose. In short, I agree with your conclusion. Perhaps the birds eat them, which means we may return with something to eat." She does not promise. It is unwise to get any of their hopes up, especially with how things are fairing in the clan. However, it would erroneous to deem this as a pointless effort. If this contraption attracts prey, then they might have to figure out how it works.

At the moment she lies hidden alongside Snowdropheart. She watches the birds flitter about. Far too quickly for her liking. However, at least there were birds present. All they had to do was make sure they didn't squander this chance. This would be a test of their patience. She leans close, so that her maw is a mere claw away from Snowdropheart's ear. "Do you want me to lead a bird towards you? Or do you want to go for it? It is clear to me that they like that strange thing," she whispers.

The molly watches the birds in silence for a while, trying to determine a pattern in their flight, getting on the ground and back on the branches, hanging off of the strange seeds. But to Snowdropheart's frustration, there is none. The birds eat their bit of food, hang back for a bit and then quickly fly for another bite, but the times between each of those isn't something that makes sense to her.

Instead she focuses on her hunting partner for the time being, hoping perhaps that an opportunity will arise soon. "If we could just get them to stay still for a moment, it'd be easier to pounce on them." she sighs. "I fear if we were to barge in now, they would all just scatter towards the sky and not even I can jump that high." They need a plan, but a situation like this is new to her and her mind draws blanks.

The molly flicks her tail in irritation, hidden by the shrub, the movement only noticable by her and perhaps Vulturesong. "Perhaps we could try and climb one of those trees and pounce on them when they land on the ground..." she thinks out loud, before dismissing it. "Ugh, what are we, SkyClan? Those branches probably aren't even thick enough to hold us properly."

Snowdropheart simply hopes that Vulturesong has more ideas than her, ones that are actually possible and achievable, for she doesn't want to go home empty-pawed with so many songbirds in front of her. Finally some prey, it would be a huge disappointment if they brough back none of it.
