[➹] Sparrow still wasn't sure what had happened. They knew their side stung really badly, and so did their eyes, blurred with tears and a nose full of sniffles. They knew something really bad had happened at home, something that had made their family really scared. Something that had made them scared, too.
Mama had told them to hide. There were... people, but there were always people, giving them food and affection. These ones had been loud in a way that had scared Sparrow. Some of them held dark sticks that were far, far louder.
It was hazy and confusing. They were scared. Sparrow didn't know what to do, and so they had ran. Ran and ran, away, as fast as their little legs could carry them, until they had tripped on a twig and scratched their side against something sharp. It hurt. Sparrow was alone.
It could hardly be considered shelter, the way they crouched and curled up tight into themself beneath a wilted fern leaf, nose pressed into dirt, but it was all they had, and they weren't keen on moving.
Soon, sniveling became hiccups, and hiccups became sobs. Not knowing what to do, where to go or where they were, the kitten cried aloud, wailing for their mother, for her to come find them, for her to come comfort them and bring them home.
//its broken and we're gonna act like it's not ok? ok
