{$title} It seems the rain and flooding from the moors has caused oilly water to runoff from the thunderpath! It clings to your fur and makes things extra slippery. Be careful not to lose your footing as you cross!

SOMETHING SACRED
HIDES IN EVERY DROP OF DEW

Being chosen to lead a patrol was already something Stoatstream took pride in, but it made it all the better that the cats chosen to come along with her were all ones she respected or cared about. Mothbite was the only member of the council who had earned even an ounce of her respect besides Sablestar himself. Snowdropheart was a kind molly and dutiful to her family, which she would always admire, and it didn't need to be said how excited she was that her little brother got to tag along too!

"Windclan's had a bunch've rainfall as of late, it's probably gonna be super muddy, so we should keep an eye out." She spoke out, not directed at anyone, as she walked just ahead of everyone. The downside of leading meant she couldn't hear the cats behind her, simply having to trust they would follow or get her attention to talk with her, rather than speak aloud and forget she couldn't hear them. "Though, then again, it might be a little more than that, I've noticed some prey crossing the Thunderpath, I've seen more plants with chunked eaten out of them." She huffed, gaze flickering to the light spattering of plants at the border being chewed away more and more. It was peculiar, but she wouldn't think too far into it.

As they reached the border, the ivory molly raised her nose to try to catch the scent of monsters in the air, if any may have crossed by recently. But, as she stood at the edge of the Thunderpath, the scent of rain thick in the air, Stoatstream yelped as she found her paws sliding beneath her. The molly managed to catch herself, but her heart thundered in a brief panic if she could have slipped onto the acrid stretch of land ahead of her.

She carefully backed up, something wet and awful-smelling on her paws. Raising one to inspect, she made a noise of disgust. "What is that?" Her fur, at most slightly darkened by mud, was now stained black, with a dark, slick liquid that was clinging to her fur and pawpads. Stoatstream's face crinkled in revulsion as she inspected where she stood. The ground was saturated with the same dark, flowing liquid, shimmering in all sorts of colours in the light of the day. "Hm... We still need to cross, but whatever this is is slippery. Everyone, be careful if you step in it while we cross." 'Is this from the rain? Has it caused something to wash off the thunderpath?...'

Snowdropheart

Getting her paws stained constantly was something Snowdropheart was used to, living in the soggy pocosin was sure to make her pale fur constantly dirty. But whatever this thing on the thunderpath was, it wasn't mud nor murky water. She lowered her head to smell it, her nose immediatelly scrunching and ears lowering in disgust.

"What could make such a foul smell?" Snowdropheart knew the awful scent of the thunderpath, but this was even worse - while the thunderpath smelled pungent and burnt, one could eventually get used to it. This liquid, however, smelled like death, assaulting her senses, making her eyes water. Whatever it was, it was certainly not good.

No matter, she had to cross the thunderpath, deathly liquid or not. She watched Stoatstream almost tumble onto the thunderpath, startling both herself and Snowdropheart, and she made a quick note about being extra careful when crossing. Snowdropheart placed one of her paws on the slick stone, familiarising herself with the slippery ground. Placing one paw in front of the other carefully, she slowly made her way across the road, determined to get to the other side. As she neared the edge of the road, she all but jumped awkwardly into the grass, impatient to get off.

Her paws looked awful - fur clumped together in soaked strips, barely dripping any of the liquid off. While she waited for the others to cross the thunderpath, she tried licking the liquid off her paw. The moment her tongue touched the dark ooze, however, she coughed and gagged, tears threatening to well out of her eyes. "I.." she gasped. "don't recommend...cleaning it off yourself." She thought she was going to be sick from the taste, no matter how much she spat out, the foul feeling stayed in her mouth. How was she going to get this off?

Still so young, Desperate for attention!

indentttMothbite loudly gags as the foul smell wafts off of the liquid and into his nose. "It's terrible! Are the twolegs putting it here on purpose?" They would have to be insane to want to be anywhere near this stuff, but Mothbite has seen twolegs to plenty of crazy things.

indentttThrough his watering eyes, Mothbite tries to get a closer look at the stuff. It's disgusting, like something between wet mud and runny bile. Where it seeps into the water, though, it creates a rainbow-like sheen atop the Thunderpath. It reminds Mothbite of stories he's heard, of long stripes of color stretching across the night sky like a cat's tail. The aurora. Strange, that something so foul could even hold a tiny semblance of beauty.

indentttBravely removing his paw from over his nose, Mothbite moves to cross the Thunderpath, stopping only for a moment to touch his tail to Monsterpaw's flank.
"Look alive, Monsterpaw. Slipping on the Thunderpath would be a terrible way to go." The crossing is easy enough for a nimble cat like himself, but his apprentice is still growing into large, unweildy paws. It'd be far to easy for him to lose his footing, and Mothbite doesn't want to see another clanmate crushed under a monster's wheels.

Monsterpaw stared at the black liquid that his clanmates were talking about with an expression that was hard to read, he did wrinkle his nose in disgust after having given it a sniff though. It seemed to cling to their pelts upon touch and as Snowdropheart made clear, it wasn't a pleasant thing to wash from their fur either, making it far worse than mere mud. Monsterpaw wasn't one for vanity or anything but if this was twoleg stuff than he wasn't so sure it was something they should be stepping in or licking off their paws... "Strange, foul creatures..." He'd grumble when his mentor asked if the twolegs were putting the stuff here on purpose. Surely they were the reason the thunderpath was here so he wouldn't put it beyond them to have also placed this foul liquid here too, but for what purpose? Didn't their monsters slip too?

A tail touched his flank and he looked to see it was Mothbite, nodding firmly in response he'd set his coppery gaze back to the slippery thunderpath. Snowdropheart had the right idea in that leap at the end, touching the slippery stuff the least amount of times as physically possible sounded like the best way to get across, especially for a cat his size. He'd crouch down into a readied pounce with a plan in mind to leap halfway across then leap the rest of the way over from there, that way he'd only have to touch the thunderpath a total of twice! It was a fine enough idea right?

... Except for once he leapt and hit the thunderpath on the first pounce he'd land on the slippery liquid stuff and it'd send him sliding across the thunderpath at a speed he wasn't prepared for-- He'd move his paws quickly in an attempt to regain balance but found it only made him slip and slide further until he eventually splat down on the path with all four legs splayed, his eyes wide with both fear and confusion-- At least it had gotten him majority of the way across? He wasn't directly in the middle of the thunderpath at least. But now he was finding it difficult to get back up and stand upright, any wrong movement making his paws slip and sending him straight back down again with a hard thud.

The apprentice felt stupid and clumsy on his large paws as he struggled, he really thought it could've been a good plan, if only he hadn't hit this slippery stuff! Stoatstream had told them all to be careful and his mentor had warned him to look alive, his pelt burned with shame as he tried to fix his fumble.

Snowdropheart

Snowdropheart watched in horror as Monsterpaw prepared to pounce - she wanted to cry out for him to stop, the thunderpath extra slippery beneath their paws today, but she was too late. She could do nothing but watch as the apprentice slipped, his paws splayed beneath his body, his coat all but drenched in the murky liquid.

Snowdropheart leapt to her legs when Monsterpaw finally stopped sliding across the thunderpath. There were no monsters nearby at this moment, but that could all change any second, and the clan did not need any more casualties to the unnatural beasts this moon. Or ever again. She felt no anger nor disappointment towards the apprentice, she was not his mentor after all, all she felt was worry for the young cat. She watched as he struggled to stand up and approached him. "Let me." she said softly, gently. She gave him a reassuring nod and grabbed his scruff in her teeth, slowly dragging him towards the grass.

Snowdropheart wasn't small, or so she thought at least, but trying to drag an apprentice who has hit a growth spurt certainly wasn't an easy task. Luckily, Monsterpaw landed rather close to the edge of the thunderpath and Snowdropheart didn't need to drag him far. "Try now." she suggested once safely on solid grass. They were now both covered in the muck. "And maybe...let's try rolling in the grass, to get this off?" She wouldn't wish the awful taste upon anyone.

Littlepaw had been training in Starclan, almost constantly just to figure out precisely how to return to the living realms without being struck with what happened to mister Thornstar during that gathering. They wondered just how their mother Juniperstar was doing, their siblings too. Magpiepaw, Asterpaw, Dreampaw. What lives were they living? Littlepaw hadn't been checking in with much depth beyond a brief look- making sure that if they had gone to Shadowclan's area that only Magpiepaw would see them.

Today would be different however. Word had gotten to Starclan... Or, actually, was it always there? Littlepaw didn't care to think about that. The point being, Windclan had been victim to another disaster, a flood. Littlepaw wanted to go and see how things were going over there now. They still felt quite sad that Gladebloom had gone missing, especially since it was Littlepaw who suggested she take that name. Hopefully she was alright. Maybe one day Littlepaw would see her again!

Their sparkling starry pelted form emerged, fading into reality through the crack in a nearby fence. Taking a moment to figure out where they were, Littlepaw noted that they were somewhere along the borders of Shadowclan and Windclan. Hm, not where they wanted to be precisely, but it was close enough, right? Still it was strange to have... Missed the mark? Littlepaw thought they were getting better at this!

"Looks like I've got more to learn." They huffed, gracefully floating by until they noticed a group of cats. Were they... Playing in slime? Littlepaw could hardly judge, these cats were alive, and they could at least experience the slime.

Although... Littlepaw wasn't sure if they were especially jealous of the experience, this strange slime looked nasty. It even sounded like it smelled and tasted even worse. "Ew! If it smells bad, why even lick it!?"
