Cicadabuzz x NPC​

Cicadabuzz has never been the sort to court distraction. Their paws stay busy with herbs, their mind set on the Clan's wellbeing, and their heart—well, that is not something they've ever been willing to make use of. And yet, life has a way of sprouting in places even the most careful cat never tended.

The truth is simple—Cicadabuzz's path crossed with another in a moment that was never meant to root itself in permanence. No plans, no promises. Just a passing of seasons, and now—kits. Small lives born of a tangle Cicadabuzz had not chosen, but cannot and will not deny.

They will be raised among the Clan, given the safety of moss-lined nests and the watchful eyes of queens who know more of mothering than Cicadabuzz ever could. Cicadabuzz will visit, of course—check their health, count their breaths, make certain each one grows steady and strong. But their duty lies beyond the nursery walls, and so the future of these little ones will rest in the paws of others.

These kits are not mistakes, nor burdens. They are simply here—unexpected, but alive, carrying forward a story neither parent ever intended to write.

  Despite being rather small as a kit, he will grow into a rather large, broad-shouldered warrior capable of taking a few hits. He sports a pelt like a river, thick white foam run through by pale blue currents along his sides, down his tail, and across his face, accented by a darker blue back-stripe and toes. His eyes are a blue to rival the sky, often seen flitting around like nervous birds and rarely meeting another's gaze.​

  Whether inherited, a product of his abandonment, or both, he is afflicted early on with an intense and severe paranoia that will haunt him throughout his life. He cannot shake the feeling that everyone and everything is out to get him, and greatly prefers staying out of the public eye. With that in mind, he often wars with himself over his desire to remain unseen and his desire to prove his worth to Sablestar, knowing that to catch - and keep - the leader's attention, he will have to put himself in the midst of situations he'd rather not be in. A stubborn streak runs through him, unwilling to let up on his beliefs (or delusions).
  
  Despite all that, he is deeply loyal to those he lets into his circle, though those same people are subject tenfold to his lashing out if he perceives a breach of the trust he extends to them. Were he more in control of himself, he would be capable of great gentleness; something he does seem able to lend to young kits.
  
  The only situation in which his paranoia for those around him is overridden is when that fear and suspicion tracks on to outside forces: other Clans or outsiders in general. He might view his "early warnings" as necessary and helpful, but more often than not these are false, and only serve to paint him in the light of being the boy who cried wolf. Furthermore, when he launches slanderous campaigns against his own Clanmates, it can only ever result in hard feelings.​

They will grow up a more logical cat and may potentially be manipulative - using the emotions of others as their means of achieving a goal. Fallowkit would wish to follow in Cicadabuzz's pawsteps as a medicine cat - and if they cannot become one for ShadowClan, they will seek the information regardless and use knowledge of herbs and poisons to their own ends.

Not an explicitly evil cat, but one who is very self-focused and uncompromising. More a lawful neutral to lawful evil type.​

→ Deathberrykit is a kit born during the change of seasons, and her swirling coat is a reflection of such. Her fur is a smattering of autumnal fiery oranges, earthy browns, and stark whites. When she is born, one might easily mistake her for leaf litter, stiff and camouflaged against a leaf-fall backdrop. Her fur is an evenly split patchwork of chocolate and red splotches, mosaiced over every angle and line of her body. There are small drizzles of white, too, mostly finding themselves pooled onto her tailtip, toes, and a small dash on her chest.

Perhaps most remarkable about her appearance is her face. Deathberrykit has facial markings that look remarkably similar to a pearl crescent butterfly. The edges of the mock-imagery of wings crest symmetrically from the bridge of her nose to well near her ear fur. Intricate patterns of chocolate weave themselves into the orange blaze of Deathberry's face, looping back down to complete the butterfly shape over her muzzle. Flecks of white intersperse themselves like freckles at the bottom of the butterfly's "wings", decorating her mouth and snout. Perhaps sharpest of all are the bright purple she possesses, with a pupil that is a light lavender shade.

From a young age, Deathberry is gaunt. Made of sharp angles and dry skin that seems too tight. She might appear shocking to some, especially as she sprouts long legs with age. She holds herself with a low, slouching posture. She slinks around the pocosin as if bearing some great secret, burdened by an invisible weight that nearly squashes her. As she reaches warriorhood, she will fill out and become more billowy and sinewy than gaunt, but one might be hard-pressed to quickly forget the unsightliness of her youth.

Do not mistake Deathberry's quiet nature for uncaring. Beneath her fur there is a steady thrum of DESPERATION that wraps itself around her heart like a thicket. In kithood and apprenticeship she has frequent emotional outbursts, seeking the attention of her parents, but quickly learns this is ineffective. She retains clinginess, but becomes more like a shadow than a gnat. She becomes dogged, obsessive, and erratic. She puts herself above others morally so that she can stand out, so she can get some semblance of recognition from her parents. She does not care for the caretakers in the nursery. Deathberry knows what drives her. She knows what she wants. She is often INCONSIDERATE of others, especially the caretakers and her siblings, and is not above stepping on their backs to get to the notoriety she seeks. She will claim victories that are not her own, and will control her image and environment as fiercely as she can.

In a way that is not unlike her sire, Deathberrykit is extremely INTELLIGENT. She uses her smarts as an adept problem solver, and possesses a keenness for adaptability. Though perhaps unlike Cicadabuzz, she is more curious than she is analytical. Throughout kithood and apprenticeship, she will be likely to stick her nose where it doesn't belong when no one is looking. She is driven to understand how and why things are the way they are. In this way, she is also DILIGENT. Though this trait develops as she grows closer to adulthood and gets chastised a time or two. She becomes methodical and organized, and once she has found something to drive her purpose she is hard to stop. Though not so much elegant, Deathberrykit does also possess a POLISHED air about herself. She is subtle and thoughtful, and thinks before she speaks- which often leads to silence and bitten tongues more often than not. Because of Cicadabuzz's rather clinical way of child-rearing she is highly focused on being organized and well-kept. Which inadvertently leads her to appear very well put together. Occasionally, this does lend itself to a SUPERFICIAL tendency for Deathberry. She will avoid difficult conversations and uncomfortable scenes just to make herself appear as polished as possible.

In a way that is similar to her thoughtful nature, Deathberry can also be described as DISCREET. She is quiet and subtle, never at the front of any crowd. She has close-kept body language and tries to make herself small in the name of distant observation. Despite her dogged hard work, she does not seek out recognition from her clanmates- at least not outwardly- and believes that actions mean multitudes against words. This silent observation in tangent to her discipline makes her rather MORALISTIC. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and this self-possessed compass comes from completely within her own beliefs over anyone else's. She is vaguely dogmatic, looking down her nose at others without them even realizing. Though Cicadabuzz is an unreachable parent, Deathberry will form her entire belief system and moral code around the actions and words of her parent. She becomes as rigid as a carapace, and is not above squashing others to elevate herself.

PLOTS + TROPES

→ Themes of desperation, fear of being forgotten. A need to be accepted and loved, and not just any love will do. She is likely to have a few superficial relationships to try and fill these gaps, but nothing makes her feel satisfied.
→ RELATIONSHIP TO CICADABUZZ: Deathberry sharply seeks approval and affection from Cicadabuzz. She frequently reaches for bug as if reaching paws into shade- felt, but impossible to hold onto. She models her morals after the ones that they teach, and is quick to squander any method of raising or living otherwise. She may linger near the medicine cat den and often try to do things outside of her own line of duty just to maintain a closeness and usefulness to them. I imagine she might have a strong sense of jealousy against Magpiepaw for being their apprentice, or really any of her siblings who could be held in favor over her.
→ MIMICRY: Deathberrykit possesses the curse of mimicry. She discovers this during her apprenticeship when she uses it to gain some resource- either physical or political- for the benefit of ShadowClan. Though it isn't until she has used it a few times that she realizes it comes with a cost. Though Deathberrykit will use it as sparingly as possible because of the pain it causes her, she can easily be convinced by Cicadabuzz or some other similarly esteemed authority figure. Evenually, her voice will be reduced to a whisper, and she may eventually become silent altogether.
→ ALETHEIA: As Cicadabuzz teaches Deathberrykit and her siblings right from wrong, she comes to understand that truth is more meaningful than most other things. And she will also come to realize that every lie told to her is met with a sharp blinding pain. She's likely to use this power for more 'evil' than good per se, often using it as a 'confidant' motive. Her power of truth discernment will be rendered obsolete, though, when the curse laid upon her makes her silent.
→ RELATIONSHIP TO HER SIBLINGS: Deathberrykit is as familial to her siblings as two berries are that grow on the same yew bush. That is, she is related to them, but that is about where her closeness with them ends. She is unafraid to usurp her siblings and to squander them for her own gain. She is a tattle tale and a a gossip. Though she would never be outright cruel towards her siblings, that doesn't mean she will be kind to them either. They will quickly learn that there are very few things that she is interested in, and they are not one of them.

Personality - TBD is a kind and gentle soul, sweet and unassuming. Craving affection from anyone and everyone, but quickly resolves to keep that hidden when it proves to gain nothing from her parent. Has a morbid sense of fascination stemming from her name (if spirit wraith ghost soul echo) or cicada's job (if vision or meteor), highly observant she takes the lessons of Cicadabuzz to heart. Nothing escapes her notice. Her eyes are wide and hauntingly pale blue, often found staring unblinking from the darkness.
A sweet but strange creature. Starlight follows her path in the form of star studded spots on her fur. Strange symbols (moons/vague shapes) litter her pelt in white. Her name could have any sort of meaning pertaining to this or other some such occurrences.
She is a quiet creature who doesn't speak often, and when she does it is straight to the point. She does not waste an iota amount of breath on words that mean little. That does not mean she is honest though. She can be just as quick to lie as tell the truth, often deciding on a whim which she will go with. Only a select, very few will always ever get the strict truth from her. She is caring and nurturing, seeming to never want to hurt a fly. Highly independent based on Cicadabuzz's encouragement, she learns quickly how to entertain herself and to seek the information she wants without waiting for it to come to her.
Remembers everything that would keep her and her siblings safe that is taught to her. Perhaps a sense of paranoia, perhaps just proactive resourceful, survivalism. Whose to say. She certainly won't.

- Superstitious and paranoid but sweet and gentle. Would seemingly never hurt a fly. But she is strange and often considered creepy, and perhaps there's something darker hidden deep in her soul. Maybe it's a facade, maybe it's not. Whose to really say what the real TBDkit is like. Certainly not her. She moves through life on the whims and whimsy of fate, following where the shadows take her.

Appearance - A small and petite Seal point with white and pale, haunting blue eyes. The white takes the form of beetle wings and stars, hinting at who her parent is. Later in life (depending on how this works on purrgy) she develops Vitiligo. To the poitn where she nearly turns fully white. Becoming the ghost that haunts the shadows of the marshes. She moves with a languid sort of motion, as if tired or not caring how long it takes her to do something. She slips through shadows just as easily as any spirit can. She has a strange demeanor and mannerisms, watching people even when she seemingly can not see them (if half/blind) a scary ability to "track" them with her eyes. One would swear she can see into their soul. Some claim that maybe that's what she can see instead, souls instead of physical forms. (No she can not.) She is soft-spoken and quiet, can often be found watching the leaves on the trees seeming to enjoy the rattling they make. Tends to be found awake at night, exploring the confines of camp, staring out into the darkness of their home.

- Has Insomnia and vision problems. Doesn't let it stop her and almost seems to act like it doesn't affect her (the lack of sleep may come back and bite her as an apprentice or warrior though) Generally unbothered by most things, it takes alot for her to visibly be shaken or upset. It's hard to read her emotions at all really. But she feels them strongly. She just doesn't let them bother her.

soft voice, shes rather affectionate at first but eventually stops once she realizes its.not something cicadabuzz will really acknowledge or appreciate.
once she decides this, the softspoken sweet kit starts to keep to herself and doesn't really like talking at all. not even with her siblings, even if they reciprocrated or appreciated her affection. instead, she turns her attention to becoming useful. obedient, always doing whatever she is asked. as an apprentice, she pushes herself more and more, maybe ending up with an injury.

They/them probably

They grow up feeling loved, because the entire clan is their family, not realizing their parent should care for them more. Once they are a little older, they start to resent their parent, trying to distance themself from them. I think generally they are sweet and kind, but not when it comes to their family, with them they are distant and cold. Depending on how the siblings feel and act, TBN might feel close to them or have no familial relationship with them at all. Struggles with understanding and communicating their emotions, as they were never taught how to, but they do love their friends and can eventually end up opening up to them.
Maybe a little autistic weirdo (i can say that im autistic) who enjoys watching beetles and letting them crawl over their fur. Might sometimes go non-verbal, especially under stress but what gets them out of it is others asking them about beetles.

If i get enough fk by then maybe i could give them polyglot - to speak to/understand beetles

  SHORTHAIRED BLACK KIT WITH GOLDEN PATCHES AND ORANGE EYES / goldenrod soldier beetle hypokit design
  
  A strange, small thing, Goldenrodkit would be easily overlooked if not for the bright coloring of its contrasting fur. It is spindly and long-legged even in its youth, a thin frame with ribs and hipbones peeking out through the thin scruff of its fur. Its coat is short and ruffled, thinning in many places and generally unkempt; often it is dusted with clumps of dirt and scattered beetle wings, plus the occasional bug limb tucked into coarse strands. Its fur is painted a deep, sun-warmed ebony, ribboned with sunlit gold striped across its forehead, limbs, tail, and abdomen. Its eyes are the same shade as a crimson-orange sunset, almond-shaped and sharp at the corners and sitting wide in an angular face. Its ears, starkly pointed, are nearly batlike in the way that they stand straight up from the kit's wedge-shaped head. Its tail is long and whiplike, thin and expressive in each of its motions. Goldenrodkit itself often wears a bright expression, complete with a sharp smile that appears almost calculating. It aims to be purposefully disarming in its appearance, tries to make itself small and nonthreatening in spite of the cleverness that lurks beneath the surface. The kit tends to skulk around with their body low to the ground, taking on a creeping gait with ever-soft pawsteps.
  
  Goldenrodkit suffers from chronic upper respiratory infections, and as a result has a poor appetite and a constant case of the sniffles. Its voice is raspy and hoarse; the kit speaks very rarely, and only around those she truly trusts. When it does speak, its voice is feather-soft and can be difficult to understand.

  A mask behind a mask—that would be the best way to describe Goldenrodkit. Every action, every detail is carefully crafted, every ruse carefully kept up and patched with more lies. It starts as a childish whim, lying for the fun of it, to make themself seem bigger and cooler than they are. But it compounds as they age, little white lies snowballing into intricately strung-together stories and a spider's web of connections that can't be discovered lest their entire social standing fall through the cracks they've been carefully toeing their way around. (At some point in their apprenticeship I'd like to explore what happens when their house of cards comes tumbling down on top of them, and how they'd pick themself back up afterward.)
  
  Serial dishonesty aside, Goldenrodkit is… not much, to be frank. They're a good-natured kit, a friendly social chameleon who knows the right things to say and when to say them. They have a good feeling for where to press forward and where to give ground in order to get the best outcome for themself. In a way, they can come off as self-serving, willing to push anyone else under the bus in order to prevent responsibility from falling on their head when things go wrong. Still, they are polite enough to be a frequent face in the elders' den, seemingly tolerated (if not well-liked) by the best storytellers in the clan. Their curiosity drives them to seek out every tale they possibly can, hoping to unravel the history of clan they live in, and the clans beyond.
  
  They find it difficult to rely on others, independence learned from a young age and near-impossible to let go of. They retain a comfortable distance between themself and others, feeling as though it's a weakness to be truly known and seen by another. As such, they are unlikely to share their inner thoughts and feelings with others even if asked, and tend to keep secrets, even the most mundane ones.
• SKILLS. Stealthy, good liar, diplomatic. Poor fighter and iffy hunter, easily distracted.
  
  GENDER. Overall they don't have a strong sense of gender identity, nor do they particularly care for what they're called. It's most likely that one day they simply started calling themself something other than "he", and then everything other than "he".

  TW talk of potential child death, this is only potential since I am not locked in on when a death can occur! Read with caution regardless.

  This being said if chosen Centipede would be my main in ShadowClan!
• using this hypokit! unsure on genetics so will be going with non specific descriptors like colours
  
  
  Centipedekit is a child made of excess, born with chubby limbs and a bulky frame it will never really shed. As it grows, if it grows, it will be a compact kitten turned cat. It's fur is sleek and prickly minus the occasional tuft that seems to make the bug like legs around it's face shine through like real antenna. Due to it's unique pelt pattern it almost looks like it is a host for something else, something it might deem greater than itself. For now though, it just uses that unique pattern to hide the mud stains it gains from playing out when it isn't supposed to.
  
  Centipedekit will often be getting into trouble, though it's placid face never really gives that away. It carries an easy going demeaner, an absentminded smile and sleepy eyes. This coupled with their slow walk and wobbly gait gives it the appearance of a bug placed on its back, always seemingly frantic in trying to push itself back up but truly it doesn't mind. It is clumsy, there will often be a new scrape or wound hiding somewhere on it's pelt from it not looking where it was going or maybe even purposely putting itself in the jaws of danger?
  
  🕷 smells like mud and old herbs, bordering on a stale smell but not quite there yet → sounds like it is seconds away from yawning but has the breathiness of a voice learning to speak through it anyways.

  Centipedekit is a child of great ambitions but of little energy to actually see them through. A big mind trapped within a low effort desire to actually see these day dreams be a reality. Born with bad asthma it is a great effort for Centipedekit to actually commit to much, it doesn't stop it from trying to play in kithood but after too many close calls with severe asthma attacks it learns to draw in on itself.
  
  So it learns to be crafty, to hold energy and release it in bursts when something really captures it's attention. When it does that's all Centipedekit can think about, it can't let go of one idea for another easily. This will extend into cats too, needing to hold onto those around them obsessively until another cat briefly captures it's attention. Above all else Centipedekit is a people pleaser, happy to extend itself to anything that it's favourite cats (usually its family) need. It seeks approval at all points, mainly because Cicadabuzz is so absent in regards to the warmer aspects of parenting. It learns it's value is when it can provide, at least it believes so anyways.
  
  As such it will be quite nurturing to others, always a friendly face, the shoulder to cry on and the occasional subject of ire if needed. It knows life is short so why should it commit to just being one thing? Outside of this, it has an interest in ghosts. Centipedekit will obsess over ghost stories, the ultimate goal in life is to meet a real ghost and even at its most lethargic it will try to achieve it.
• 🕷 As mentioned in the first 🕷tab where i keep the disclaimers. Centipedekit is a doomed character, slated for death at some point in its life that I myself don't know of. If chosen I will pick a starting age that Vulture and the rest of the family are happy with, from then on at intervals (depending on how attached I get ngl, I may space it out to be once every few months to once a month depending on variables) I will be rolling to see if Centipedekit has a fatal asthma attack. The goal in this is to perpetuate the tragedy of a medicine cat's child being the one cat they can't save <3
  
  🕷 Outside of potential angst and tragedy a silly little plot I have in mind is for its apprentice months, it will lead a rebellious little apprentice group that sneaks out to look for ghosts. Who knows what trouble they might find instead!
