& I don't know what's got its TEETH in me
As the medicine cat's filter out and begin to make their treks home he lingers. Magpiepaw's slowness can be excused by his wobbling gait, he pauses to groom his shoulder as his gaze follows the vanishing sun-spilled color tail of Dimmingsun finally disappear through the tall grass; with WindClan the last to leave his vision he turns back to make his way into the Highstones once more. Mere seconds before the stars had lit the place in a glow so luminous and blue it was as if it formed a new moon itself; blindingly brilliant a display befitting the cats who would call themselves their ancestors. His violet gaze narrows as he dips his head low and advances upon the crystal-like monolith jutting up from the earth, a prismatic tooth of the beast that was their forest; would it cut him if he touched it he wondered. The black and white apprentice inhaled sharply through his nose as he paced, dark paws shuffling and kicking up loose stones in his uncertainty.
StarClan never came to him before, the one time it did was Littlepaw greeting him while he was visiting ThunderClan but beyond that they never once sought him out. Their very mention had the older cats of ShadowClan hissing to not use their name, that they had been forsaken, that they had left the former colony to starve and die and only came to grant power to the cat who would have seen them all rot; if you believed his father's version of the story as he told it - which Magpiepaw did. Once. Now, he was not sure. There was truth to it, but the hatred in every word for the stars that openly embraced his own sibling while in the same breath permitting vipers in its nest was a contrasting bit of hopelessness for him. Here at the Moonstone, they came, so surely they would answer him now as they would any medicine cat. He may not have been chosen by the stars but he would make them recognize him all the same.
"Come out." The apprentice barked once, voice hoarse and he despised the tremor in it. "I want someone to answer me, I want someone to answer my questions. I will not leave until then." His voice steadied out now, he found his confidence the longer he stood there and nothing happened and with that confidence came righteous anger. "I said COME OUT!"
