Pine is a large brown tabby tom. His paws are large, making him an efficient swimmer. He has a scar on his nose, several smaller ones littering his body, and a few nicks in his ears.

Before the loss of his family, he was more free spirited, but the years have not been kind to him, and he has grown unkind in turn. He does his best to push people away, often coming off as prickly and grumpy, but at heart, he is someone who has lost a lot and because of it is scared of getting attached to someone again.

➵ Before Pine came to the shipyard, he was a rogue living near a twoleg place with his mate, Lily. They had three kits together, but during an event he rarely speaks off, they all tragically die. He blames himself. After this he wanders around, lost, until he finds the shipyard and the strange gathering of cats who live there.

➵ Although he'd sworn to himself to never take responsibility for another life again, fate is not on his side, and he soon finds himself entangled in the lives of two kits named Torrent and Squid…
When Brook looses her kit, Rain, he comforts her, and they find a friend in one another, sharing the experience of losing a child.
On the night the shelter collapses, Pine is sleeping outside it with Torrent and Squid, but once he hears the noise, he rushes to the shed. He goes in to help Brook and Lilac, carrying the kit out but becoming injured in the process.
