In this town, filled with starving daughters

Snowdropheart feels glad she was chosen to lead the kit patrol - if there has to be one, at least she is there to watch out for the kits and caregivers. She trusts Blacktree to defend herself, but more strong fighters is always an advantage. It is only Wisteria's litter now, the small six kits being only three moons old. Older Amberkit still being bound to the healer's den, the poor thing.

Snowdropheart wondered for a long time what the best place for the little things was, to not risk getting stuck in the wet grounds of the pocosin or falling into the cold water. She would never forgive herself if something were to happen to the little ones, even if they weren't her best friend's children. Eventually she settled on the edge of the barrens, which are dryer than most of the territory, bordering the wet lands, to search for hibernating toads or wayward mice.

Snowdropheart watches her steps as she leads the patrol, making sure to walk slowly, not to overwhelm the short legs trotting behind her. Ocasionally she steals a glance at Timberfrost, who's positioned at the end, to see if she's walking too fast or too slow.

When she finally reaches the edge of the barrens, she stops and addresses the kits. "Okay little ones, this is where we'll hunt. You can try to look for toads buried in the ground, like Fleafire taught you last time, or look out for mice or songbirds." Though Snowdropheart doubts a kitten will be able to catch an actual bird, but maybe with the help of the adults and with extreme luck, a bird might make it to their catches. Or, at least, she can wish.

These kits know nothing but hunger and Snowdropheart hopes soon, that will change. Once leaf-bare is over and more prey hopefully returns. In the meantime, all she can do is teach these kits to search for prey, for right now they need it.

OOC: Not requiring any rolls for caregivers if you dont want, just follow the general feel of the hunger games :) for kits, roll a 1d10 and only 10 counts as a success
