Nevertheless, she was here, just past the pines, gazing out upon a land of potential. Danger could lurk wherever she glanced, but hope bloomed too like the first flowers of a newleaf season. She let herself sink into the soft grass, rolling around in its wild scent. This was a land unclaimed, and she knew they had opportunity here for new life.

  • Quailstep is still finding her niche as a warrior of SkyClan, though her greatest ambition is to be a mentor - and a great one at that. They come at the warrior code from all angles, seeking a greater understanding of what makes a good warrior through study and theory. Her other area of interest is in Clan history and lore, especially as a member of SkyClan! She is a decent enough hunter, and relatively average fighter, but her passion helps make up for her shortcomings.

    Quailstep was born to two warriors of SkyClan - Thornstripe, her father, was born and raised in the gorge while Ivydance, her mother, was born a kittypet and became a full warrior of SkyClan after her apprenticeship. Also in her litter was Beetleheart, her brother. They had a fairly unremarkable kithood.

    Quailstep became an apprentice under XX's guidance, when she first became passionate about learning and following the warrior code. During her apprenticeship, her friendship with Flowercloud grew, and the two would hang out often. One of their adventures involved climbing the gorge, racing both Flowercloud and Fujimoto.

    When she was named a warrior under Coffeestar's leadership, she was given the suffix -step for her determination. Her time as a warrior was fairly standard, until the Clan was driven from their home. It was when Hawkstar took on the mantle of leader that Quailstep began to realize her feelings for them, but there were more pressing issues at hand. During the journey, Quailstep had a crisis of faith, but with the help of some of her Clanmates, she rallied and continued the journey. Upon their arrival to the new territory, Quailstep finally accepts this change and decides to better herself as a warrior.

    The death of Rosebelly is the first sign to her that perhaps their new neighbors aren't honorable like the warriors of old. Her affection and loyalty towards Hawkstar grows, and in greenleaf, she and some other warriors enjoy a moment of peace in the river. After Flowercloud is reinstated as deputy, Quailstep and her friend share a heart to heart and catch up.

    Quailstep is assigned her first apprentice, Mallowpaw. Not long after, there is another attack from ThunderClan at the border - while Quailstep is not present for the battle, several of the Clanmates she cares for are. Her guilt over not being there to protect them leads her to talk to Brightnose, where the two confess their feelings of inadequacy to each other and resolve to work together to be better warriors.

    Hawkstar is our leader - I trust her with my life. I recognize her mistakes, but if she were not rightful leader of our Clan, I believe our ancestors would have made their opinion clear. She is a complex cat - and when she stands before us, I cannot help the way my heart flutters.
