Just past Lightning's Grasp lies the border with RiverClan - things are... strained with the other Clan right now, but still, the clearest water lay on the border of the two clans. Therefore, Quailstep knew it would be the best bet for cooling off today, in the warmer part of greenleaf. Her mouth opens, helping to scent the air, and she lets her senses lead her to the part of the water that gently curves into SkyClan territory. Clear, crisp water - refreshing and life-giving. And luckily enough, calm water, too.

Because, as soon as she reaches the edge to take a sip, her paws slip on a particularly smooth rock. Her balance lost, she tumbles into the water, soaking her entire pelt from tail to nose. Her head bursts above the water, and she shakes the droplets off, huffing water from her nose and mouth.

"Oh, mouse-dung!" she swears.

Mulberryburst wasn't too fond of the borders, though he was more than willing to help mark them he didn't like the fact that the trees thinned out and eventually stopped, making it difficult to not only be in the trees the whole time he was on a patrol, but that he could be seen more often by the cats that reside in the other clans. He didn't mind it enough to complain about it however, just enough to keep it on his mind as they walked towards the border, feet heavy as heat-induced tiredness clung to him. Despite the cover of the trees through the majority of the territory it seemed as though the greenleaf heat was permiating through the territories, and he couldn't help but feel sorry for the other clans that didn't have the cover of trees to help them - that as far as he knew only really being WindClan and RiverClan and at least the latter of the two had the appeal of swimming in the water to help cool themselves off.

The idea to go to the border of the swimming clan was a good one, whether or not the cats amongst the patrol could swim - as far as he knew, none could, and why any cat would want to get their paws wet he had no idea - though getting a nice drink would be good to continue on through the day. Maybe they'd even be able to get some moss and soak it in the water to carry it with them as they finished their patrol and began to head back to camp so that the heat wouldn't get to them too much before they got back.

He was lost in thought as they finally got to the border, only coming back to the present when he heard the splash of water and the cursing of Quailstep, head quickly turning over in their direction before the tell-tale smile of slight amusement began to spread across the SkyClanner's maw. "I knew it was hot out but I didn't realize you were going so far as to try and be a RiverClanner." He'd muse. Any member of his clan would know he was simply jesting, but still that flicker of mischief sparked through his eyes. How far would he be able to push the joke, he was curious.

BRIGHTNOSE - SKYCLAN WARRIOR

Brightnose trails along near the front of the patrol, following Mulberryburst closely and trying to stay in the shade as much as possible - while she enjoys Greenleaf's sunny weather, sometimes the heat gets to her, and this is one of those days. It doesn't help that the trees thin out a bit near the RiverClan border, but knowing that Mulberryburst was leading the patrol to SkyClan's portion of the stream was reassuring. A nice cool drink was just what she needed right now.
When they finally reach the RiverClan border, Brightnose begins trotting along toward the stream, stopping only when she hears a loud splash. It's Quailstep's head that appears above the surface of the water seconds later, and Mulberryburst's amused jab makes Brightnose laugh.
"Save some water for the rest of us, I'm parched," she muses, padding up to the river bank and leaning down to take a sip. The water quickly quenches her thirst, and her tail flicks with satisfaction.

  • Brightnose is a mostly gray she-cat, with lighter fur on one side of her face and darker, swirly stripes along her pelt. She also sports white patches on her face, right ear, chest + belly, tail-tip, and paws. Her eyes are forest green, and her skin is a salmon pink. Her left ear has a couple tears in it, and her nose has a small scar, from an incident that occurred during her apprenticeship.
Brightnose has always excelled more at hunting, thus this is where she feels most confident in aiding her Clan. When it comes to fighting, however, she can fall a bit short despite trying her hardest. Conflict worries her, and deep down she fears that she might not be able to protect her Clanmates properly if she needs to.
Though she is sociable, she tends to keep to herself, valuing her alone time when not on patrol or other assigned duties. She enjoys spending her evenings in the corner of camp, catwatching (and sometimes daydreaming). Due to her curious nature, however, she does have a tendency to listen in on conversations that she's not a part of. This can occasionally lead to trouble, as some things aren't meant for her ears to hear...
