About Us 
Hello and welcome to Purrgatory! We are an 18+ Warrior Cat Roleplay set in an AU where the clans were unable to leave the forest territories and perished!
It has been 100 or more years since then, the clans of the forest are but distant memories to any cats still alive, stories passed down to kits of strangely named wild warriors and leaders with nine lives but the time of the clans is upon us once more and the stars shine yet again.

Getting Started
A guide for getting started roleplaying on Purrgatory!
Welcome to Purrgatory's GETTING STARTED GUIDE!
Here we will give you a basic introduction on how the site works, how to get into the roleplay and our rules and guidelines!
It might seem like a lot at first, but I promise it's all very straight forward! To the left (or at the top under 'Navigation' if you're mobile) you'll see a list of all our site guides!
For general site rules and expectations click General Site Rules!
For rules relating specifically to the roleplay itself and guidelines on how our universe works, click Traditional Rules & Guidelines! Each has several submenus you can view once selected!
To get started you need a MAIN ACCOUNT! This is the account you register with!
You will be roleplaying via subaccounts - these are secondary accounts connected to your main that allow you to swap between characters with ease!

Here we will outline the steps to registering an account on the site, some settings regarding your account, and how to create and link subaccounts!

MAIN ACCOUNT SET-UP

First things first, let's get that main account set up! Click HERE to create an account!
Create a username, provide an email [this is for account recovery purposes only! staff will not use your personal information to contact you or otherwise distribute your information!], and create a password!
We require a valid e-mail, accounts with invalid e-mails or temporary e-mails will be deleted immediately.
Once you've created your main account, you have the freedom to add additional information: -

Each character will need its own subaccount on which you'll post for the duration of their life (and subsequent death)! You will get your character CHECKED-IN before making a subaccount!
Let's get started by clicking on that kitty up there or here!

Below, it says create new account... that's what we're aiming for! In order to recover your password or move your account, you'll need a password at minimum. Make sure to include that, even if it's just the same password as your main account! Once you've created that... you've done it! Your subaccount is now linked to the main account [if they get disconnected for some reason, feel free to let staff know and we'll reconnect them!

STYLE SETTINGS

We use a plugin to allow customization of username! Below are the basics to using this plugin to customize your accounts!
STYLE GUIDE
Located on your control panel when you click your little icon on the top right you'll see STYLE SETTINGS! This is where you will pick all the fun colors and frames to decorate your profile!
- AVATAR FRAME [this includes clan-themed borders and other silly ones!]
- There are several options available to you! More will be added as we go!
- CUSTOM TITLE STYLE [this includes font stylings, colors, glows and more!]
- This is the text that goes under your username on your posts!
- USERNAME STYLES [this includes font stylings, colors, glows and more!]
You can apply a Font Awesome icon in front of your name in any color you like! You can add glow around anything to make it shimmery! There are sparkles that can flicker behind your username (unfortunately does not work on titles) to give them a little bling!
- While there is an option to add FA icons behind your username, it is disabled and they can only be placed at the front due to display issues!
- Keep in mind that gradient text does not work with glow, you must choose one or the other.
- Some CHROME browsers do not show gradient properly. To fix this select color for GLOW while GLOW is set to none and turn off the glow's opacity. (Set the slider all the way to transparent or input this text hsla(0, 0%, 0%, 0) where you would normally put a color!)
There are countless options for you to decorate from font, color, glow, etc...play around and see what looks best for you!
There's also custom animation for your username/title: whatever gif you place there will be a rolling image inside the outline of your username font. It's a little finicky and we advise not using it except with small gifs with blinking patterns like night skies or clouds etc...There are no options to reside/format this.
- These will not show up on posts themselves and are only visible in the user info hover box!

- This is located on your control panel as well in its own section separate from Style Settings!

Here you're able to toggle online and activity visibility, email options and edit who can see your details, post messages on your profile, receive your news feed, send direct messages to you.

This just lists which accounts you've opted to follow!
IGNORING
We are of the belief that, as adults, we are allowed the space to enforce our own boundaries! You do not have to get along with every user on the site and if you choose to ignore them, that's fine! Please be mindful that ignoring HP accounts and staff accounts are NOT advised, as they may cause issues with seeing important information. In passing you won't be able to see these individual's content but can still see their profile... however, keep in mind this does NOT prevent them from seeing your posts and reacting to them! Threads will advise you when an ignored account has posted in a thread so you can toggle to see that post if you wish!

Before making your subaccount please make sure to the CHARACTER CHECK-IN GUIDE & TUTORIAL for a brief walkthrough! Checking in IS required!!

Now that you have your first character account made and approved, what next?
Time to start roleplaying! Familiarize yourself with our site's history thus far and figure out which clan to join! You can check the clan boards for their guides to get a feel for what would best suit your character or even ask around in the Adoption Board to find relatives, friends etc for your plotting needs!
Each clan has its own history as well, make sure to give those a look over to see if your character fits! For example, if a previous leader denied kittypets from joining - your kittypet turned clan cat would not have been able to join then! We want to respect people's characters and not force them to act OOC.
You can join as if your OC has been there the entire time or you can have them attempt to join the clan at the start, please keep in mind there is no guarantee they'd be allowed in based on the clan's leader and their view on outsiders!

While not required, once you have your character subaccount made and your profile looking pretty, we encourage you to make them a profile of some kind and post it in Character Profiles so others can get an idea of what your character is like as well, since you can hop right into the RP as if your cat was always there, it helps other RPers be familiar with them!
