Dreadful. Simply dreadful.
It was a dreadful, horrible day in the eyes of Nancy, sitting atop her fence in her state of mourning. The clouds above her rolled on to show of a sunny day, but how could it be so sunny when her mood was so sour? The breeze blew past her short fur, giving her a nice chill, but no matter how good it felt, it didn't cheer her up at all, not even in the slightest! This day spelled to be a terrible one, for sure, and all because of one simple fact...
Her human had run out of her favorite food! The best one of them all--lamb that came in a nice metal thingy, one that her owner could easily rip open and dump into her 'pretty-kitty'-labeled food bowl. Oh, how the aroma could take her to different heights--how she could dream of being a larger cat, hunting whatever this 'lamb' creature was, stalking it like she saw in the box her human stared at for hours and hours on end. She could hiss, scratch at it, make it fear her dominating spirit! Oh, what a lovely tale that would be...
Unfortunately, she couldn't be so lucky to have her usual feast today. This morning, when she got up from her fluffy, ever-so-comfortable fur bed and padded her way to the food room for breakfast, she went face-to-face with her worst nightmare--dry food. Nothing moist about it, nothing good or flavorful like her darling, exquisite lamb chow... She whined and cried at her owner for something better, but they merely shook their head and left her in the dingy den with the smell of disgusting gravel sitting right in her bowl. She refused to eat it, no matter how hungry she was. Her human would need to get her something better, and fast!
Time passed. She waited by the door. Then waited. Then... waited some more!
Then, she grew exhausted of waiting and nibbled on the food in her bowl. Even if it tasted bad... it was better than nothing. She munched on it for a while sullenly, and when she was all done, she marched herself out of her owner's house and through the tiny opening in the middle of this wall, letting her press herself into the small garden they had. When her human wasn't here for cuddles, possibly hunting for something better to eat than whatever that disgusting slop was, she usually spent her days sunbathing on the fence, or climbing a tree to lay on the limb. Today she chose the limb to nap on, but no nap she would have, not with a belly as discontent as hers. She yearned for a better meal, yearned for something to eat that was far tastier than dry fodder...
Something rustled in the bushes below. She tipped her head down to peer at it, eyes wide and blinking at the small movement. Then, a creature darted out into the trash right outside her fence, causing such a ruckus. She huffed. No way would she let some creature come near her home and barging in on her lamenting! How dare it!
She hopped onto the fence and made her way down with a huff, frowning at the feeling of the overgrown grass grazing her pawpads. She scowled, marching towards the pile of trash outside of the trashcan. "Hey, you!" she mewed indignantly, stomping one of her paws. "You are disturbing me! That's quite rude. Please go away."
