{$title} TRIGGER WARNING! Jadethorn births her kits in the privacy of Fourtrees
trigger warning Birth and Dramatic Cursing

There's only two types of people in the world

The ones that entertain, and the ones that observe

The day had started off as a normal day. A nice day even. The sun was shining for once, drying out the mud underpaw so they didn't have to slosh through it with every step. It was more like compact earth, which the molly was happy about. With the extra weight agaisnt her sides and stomach, it was becoming increasingly harder to drag herself through the wet earth of the pocosin. Her footfalls were heavy and movements slow as she enjoyed the rarity of dry heat while on a walk with her former apprentice. They were listening to her yap on about her new warrior duties and being able to flaunt it in front of the apprentices still older than her. A laugh had just escaped her maw before it croaked to a stop, breath hitching as pain made her already heavy pawsteps stop in their tracks.

"Flea..." The name was said through clenched fangs, tail curling against her flank as she let out a groan. Liquid was already dripping down her back legs and every bone in her body suddenly knew that it was time. The stones in her belly were not going to wait any longer, no matter how much she may have wanted them to. A deep breath was taken in, before it was shakily sighed outward. "Coal and Wolf... Go get them... And meet me at where those idiots held the gathering..." Back to the colony grounds, a neutral place where no one would question a birthing mother surrounded by cats ready to tear apart any predator who came near. Another breath and she started her trek towards the great oaks, paws shaky but weight bearing. If Flea tried to protest, to follow her steps, she'd narrow her toxic gaze at her.

The decision was made when she had found out about the kits, but it meant that she couldn't have them back in the closed off walls of camp. Her dear snake wouldn't get out alive if that was the case. Once Fleafire was bolting back to camp to find the other Night Guards, Jadethorn focused on each step she made, pushing through the coming waves. Her voice was soft as she walked. There was one more cat she needed to meet her there... but that one would be harder to let know about her circumstances. And, in hindsight, it was the most important cat she needed there. "Froststorm... You better be here, you dead bastard... Grab...Serpentberry... Thunderclan's medicine cat... Whatever weird ghost bullshit you can pull to get her there..." It was hard, to trust in a ghost. But this was the spirit who helped Fleafire graduate under her tutelage. Who helped her get into the position she was in now. She trusted that he'd find a way to pass on the message. And so, her steps carried on, working to get her to the place she promised they'd find her at.

❖❖❖

The trek was a fucking pain. Her paws ached by the time she got there, legs shaky underneath her as she stepped into the clearing where even more blood had been spilt only a few weeks prior. So much for 'holy' ground. A ripple through her muscles made her steps falter, a groan escaping through gritted teeth as her legs finally gave way. Directly against the center stone, curled so perfectly in the roots of the massive tree. It made a huff of amusement escape her. It'd be the perfect place for her stones to come to life. Directly underneath the towering bark that the 'stars' deemed so important. Her stones would shine so brightly that they wouldn't be able to be ignored. They will etch a mark in the history of the clans, that much she knew. She would make sure of it, along with the two other night guards that had sired them.

Another wave had her claws digging into the earth, clenched fangs seperating in a held back cry that ended up escaping as a hiss. "Fffuck! No one said it would fucking hurt this much." The first that came seemed to want to see the world, like the trek here had been the only amount of time they'd wait to be born. They came quick and Jadethorn had a short repreive between the waves to look at the new life. The deep black coat was reminescent of the first sire. How fitting for the first born. A name was quick to come to her mind and as she reached down to run tongue against long fur, she whispered out their new moniker. "Obsidiankit. Sharp and cold. Fitting with your father." The molly wouldn't get much of a chance to recover, the next wave bringing ears back and claws back into the dirt.

Their siblings would not wait and Jadethorn suddenly didn't want to be alone any longer.

FLEAFIRE
x

It was time! Fleafire had been waiting for this moment, trailing her mortal mentor's side waiting for the catalyst. When it finally came, she wasn't any more ready than Jadethorn. Her jaw dropped, eyes stretching into wide saucers. "S-shit! Okay, I'm on it!" She took a step before skidding in place.

It didn't feel right to let her go alone. What if something happened?

"Wait. Are you gonna be okaaa…" One sharp glare from the molly sent her paws back on their path. She cast a final glance over her shoulder before tearing off into the marsh, splashing through puddles and snagging her fur on low branches. Excitement bubbled under her pelt, barely contained by the time she reached camp.

Her jaw clamped shut, nostrils flaring as she tried to play it cool. The small she-cat made a beeline for Wolfpack, who she spotted first, breathlessly delivering the news before turning to track down Coalstrike's hulking form. Once both toms were rallied, she fell into step behind them, trailing in their shadow.

The trek to the colony's old place felt longer than she remembered. Who would've guessed a gathering would end like this? That tree had seen two deaths—and now, it would greet Jadethorn's kits too. How much more blood would soak into its roots?

"Jadethorn! I got them like you asked!" Fleafire panted, eyes flicking from her mentor's face to the wriggling worm of fur on the ground. She trots closer, hesitant about pissing Jadethorn off, especially right now, but she inches forward anyway, slinking closer like a hungry dog to a scrap.

Fleafire sooches onto her belly and stretches her chin down to get a better look. "Wow, this one looks like you Coalstrike." How did that even work with two toms ending up as the father of the same litter? Did they agree to share or somethin'? Did either of them even know how to share?

A toothy grin tugs at her muzzle. Ehhh whatever, she didn't give a fuck how it happened. These kits were going to knock the whole clan on its heels. If Wolfpack, Coalstrike, and Jadethorn made them, they were bound to be strong. Strong enough to make ShadowClan unstoppable. If she asked, maybe they'd even let her mentor one! She would make them the strongest warrior anyone had ever seen. With what Froststorm and Jadethorn taught her, combined with her own tricks, they might even become stronger than their parents...

SHADOWCLAN WARRIOR 11 MOONS SHE/HER
Fleafire values family and strength the most. She is clever, sharp-tongued, and quick to anger. She is guided by her desire to become stronger and protect those she cares about—at any cost. Fleafire respects strength but not necessarily authority. She will push boundaries and take advantage of the weak at any given opportunity.

Due to her experiences, Fleafire is corrupt and lacks morals. She does not believe in Starclan but now believes in the Dark Forest. While not a devout follower, her loyalty belongs to her mentor, Froststorm, who reached out when she was at her lowest and saw her into warriorhood.

Growing up in a kitten mill, being separated from her mother, ending up on the streets, and being powerless have deeply affected her view of the world. Despite that, she has grown more resilient as a result of her hardships and bounces back quickly. Her training and mended relationships with some of her clanmates has solidified her devotion toward ShadowClan.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ 𖣂 The squirming infant entered the world with a particular boldness. The sun above was bursting its way through the leaves above. His slicked down black coat shining brightly under its rays. The kitten raised his head as high as he weakened neck would allow. His sense of smell guided him towards his mother's side. Though his wobbly body took quite some time to settle into a comfortable position. It took the young tom some time before the mews started. But once they did, they wouldn't stop.

His sharp high-pitched cries begged and yearned for his mother. His large paw pressing into his mother's side. His incessant wails would only be stopped if he were aided to a food source. The kitten was large, and was sure to hog as much food as he needed to survive. Obsidiankit let out a particularly loud and impressive mew at the time of his name being announced. Perhaps in approval or thanks.

The arrival of the other ShadowClan cat meant nothing to the vulnerable and naive kitten. Instincts of food and warmth guided his mind. And until his littermates arrived, Obsidiankit would fill up his round tummy as much as he could.

As most of his days went now, he took the opportunity being latched to Fleafire's very being to join her for her daily ongoings. He was nothing more than a shadow when he joined her, leaving her to her own tasks as he instead observed the clan. Often commented offhandedly to Fleafire his thoughts or suggestions to her, but mostly remained silent as he enjoyed his time amongst the living. With Deadwood and his own apprentice, he had plenty of spare time to kill, after all.

Though his peace was disturbed by a groan of pain and his apprentice being called for, eyes dragged across the camp, only to fall upon Jadethorn. He let out a hum of surprise, the little pests had been late and Jadethorn had been suffering for it, and it seemed now, of all times, they unceremoniously decided to announce their arrival. The smaller molly sent off to grab the fathers, to which Froststorm motioned with his head for her to listen to Jade.
"I'll keep an eye for her, go on ahead."

His plan was to walk her to wherever it was she decided to have these little gems of hers, alert Fleafire in case of any problems or the like. Though the molly was smart and had other plans. Frankly, the tom was stunned to hear her hiss his name, barking at her to obtain Serpentberry, the Thunderclan medicine cat. It was the first time in... Well, longer than he had been dead since another cat barked an order at him, then again, following his failure to help the last he could in a situation like this... He shook his head, stifling down the turn in his stomach. Jadethorn had allies in this other clan, unlike she had, he needn't worry.

Froststorm left without a word; it wasn't as if Jadethorn could hear him; she was betting on him being nearby to be of any help, and she was damn lucky with the assumption. But nonetheless, the ghost dragged his paws away from the pocosin he knew dearly and towards a camp he had not set a paw in for a very long time.

This was a gamble of itself; he only faintly remembered the cat known as Serpentberry from her and Jade being ever so too close during the gathering. It was none of his business what they were doing, but clearly they had a plan preset before this day.

Pushing his way into camp, there was no immediate panic by any figure who could have spotted him. He knew Starclan gave some of these pesky little bastards some form of clairvoyance; he had learned as much once and had ruined a moon's worth of planning. It was why he walked delicately, carefully towards that place that stunk of herbs and florals, strong and unavoidable. He sniffed the air, calculated, while the scent of many cats clung around, she was alone. It would have raised too much panic in the little apprentice this cobra had in her grasp, though he could not stop her if she brought along the sprout.

Without another moment, he pushed his way inside, the sight of the molly as she worked through her herb stocks, unaware. He cleared his throat and spoke without his usual dramatisisms, if she tried to become difficult out of a panic that would only raise issues for Jadethorn.
"Serpentberry. Jadethorn has asked for you, urgently."
His gaze flickered outside of the place, ensuring no one would overhear.
"I am assuming you both have a plan for her kitting, but now is that time."

He did not wait for her answer, turning tail and leaving the medicine den promptly. Froststorm refused to remain within the camp of this place after all. She could ask questions if she really so desired when her task was complete, for now he pressed on towards Fourtrees, in search of wherever Jadethorn had settled.
