REPAY ME IN KIND

Bluegale has no earthy idea how he has ended up in this position. Let alone why Jadethorn has chosen him out of everyone in ShadowClan to lead this patrol. Perhaps if it were any other circumstances he might feel more honored by the opportunity, but as it stands right now it feels like he is willingly walking into the maw of the beast. Though he wonders if ThunderClan would turn their noses up at the opportunity to jump on a patrol with kits on it. Not only is this supposed to serve as a border patrol, but Jadethorn has decided that they will be unceremoniously chaperoning her brood of sniveling brats to where they had recovered Coalstrike when he was barely alive.

Atypical of Bluegale, he says nothing to Hollowmist as they move side by side toward the thunderpath that scars the earth between ThunderClan and ShadowClan's territories. Though his blue pelt brushes against his sibling's pale one, its warmth comforting him. He feels childishly indignant about helming this, certain that it will devolve quickly if not turn into an all-out skirmish. Jadethorn is just that sort of cat. And what then? Will he be expected to fight? To protect kits that aren't his, nor that he even remotely cares about? Maybe Sablestar would feel in some ways relieved to have less mouths to feed. Bluegale quickly squashes that thought, feeling bitter at the gruesome nature of it.

His tail tip twitches in irritation as they reach the thunderpath, stopping just short of the blacktop. "It was here," he grits out, inhaling the acrid scent of asphalt as if it might clear his head. He turns to Jadethorn, though he only meets her eyes for a moment: "This is where we found him." His head whips around to face the blacktop again, as if Coalstrike might reappear as some hellish apparition. But there's no one, and Coalstrike's blood has long since been washed away by the rains brought by the wet season rolling back into the pocosin. He shudders. A monster roars in the distance as it draws closer, and Bluegale gestures for them to back away and hunker in the foliage along the thunderpath.

"No one will touch the thunderpath," he demands of them, tail lashing. If Jadethorn's kits weren't here he might have added that they would be turned into roadkill like Coalstrike had, but he keeps his cruel statement in singularity.

/ @Jadethorn (+ her kits), @Hollowmist @viperhowl are patrolling, but you don't have to wait for them :)

The kitten couldn't BELIEVE it! Clearly, Momma or Dad had to have pulled some whiskers or whatever for all of them to be brought on a patrol! They were basically already apprentices at this point, and ohh, was Silverkit gonna rub in all the other kittens' faces. Imagine being so lame you couldn't be trusted to go on an actual patrol with warriors!

They trotted along, tail up and proud as they followed Bluegale and what's-its-face. They didn't care enough to learn their name; the only reason they remembered Bluegale was 'cause Momma told them to follow him! And, so, they did. Though someday they wouldn't be the ones following! They'd be the one leading, cause someday Dad would be the leader, so that only meant Silverkit was just as destined for something great.

Everyone else looked sorta... Dsitracyed almost. There was something in their faces the spotted kitten couldn't quite discern. Silverkit couldn't read expressions well, but that's everyone else's fault for not just telling them what was wrong (Or maybe they had, but the kitten didn't deem it important enough to care).

Then, something terrible-smelling caught the kittens' attention, face wrinkling in horror. "Ew.. What is that!" They spat, ears flattening in disgust at whatever it was. It better be gone soon, or Silverkit wasn't going to shut up about how awful it was, which usually solved the problem.

But, instead, something did manage to shut them up. An opening before them, where Bluegale and uh... Black-and-Whitegale? (Again, Silverkit didn't care to know their name) The two warriors came to a stop. They had been walking ahead of their Momma and siblings, dead set on being the first to see whatever they had come to observe. And it was.... Nothing?

Their face scrunched up. "What? There's nothing here. It just smells bad." The kitten pouted, about ready to throw a fit. But something caught their attention, making their face scrunch up. "Why do I have to listen to you." They huffed, defiantly. Bluegale wasn't their Momma, or Dad, or anyone important really (that being any on the council, in Silverkit's eyes. Except Cicadabuzz, Momma had been extra upset at bug).

The kitten didn't understand properly why they had been brought here; they had watched Papa die, watched his body grow cold and be buried in the earth. They knew something hurt him and he had been brought home, but either they hadn't paid enough attention or the dots didn't connect, but the kitten fearlessly (or perhaps, foolishly) stepped towards the Thunderpath. Their face knitted more in confusion than concern, which only changed as the rumbling they hadn't noticed grew louder.

  • OOC - Silverkit, dont walk into oncoming traffic challenge (they wont die i promise) someone can snatch them up and jadethorn will be scolding them :p (taru gave me permission to send silver to run ahead and cause issues teehee)

He didn't understand why he had to join this border patrol, but the tom was here regardless, and he'd take it. Especially to look for treasures or be of some use, though he'd much rather hunt than have to deal with thunderclan. Or jadethorns kits. He'd swear his eyeballs would be stuck in his head at this point as they continued to trot and run and trip and scare away prey- just anything they could do to be obnoxious. They should've known he wasn't a fan of kits, but here he was, and he just had to deal.

He just wished they knew how to shut their little traps. Unfortunately, they continued on. When the patrol finally reached the thunder path, his fur stiffened on the end as he felt the rumbling. His nose lowered to the ground, whiskers brushing against the mud before flicking them and lifting his head- ears perked. Golden eyes flicked as Silverkit only proved his point, acting as if they were something special- when they weren't. They were lucky their mother was here, or Viperhowl wasn't sure he could actually hold his tongue on trying to knock down their cockiness.

Until, well, the little brat started trotting forward. Not only being a shithead, but defying a warrior of all things. Bright lights shined through the shadows, and the fur stood as Viperhowl darted forward, attempting to snag their scruff and pull them from even breathing on the road. "You brat!" He howled, like his namesake, golden eyes lighting up like embers as he knitted eyebrows together and flattened his ears. "D'ya listen to anyone besides yourself?" He growled, digging his his paw into the mud and gritting teeth as he bit back more words. This kid really had rocks for brains... Maybe even more so then himself. His heart thudded in his chest, having been mere tail lengths from the passing monster before pulling them out of the way.

This kid really wanted to see their father again, huh?

(Let me know if I need to edit anything!!!)

Blisteringfury hated the Thunderpath that marked the border between Shadowclan and Thunderclan even if it helped in keeping the crowfood eaters on their side of the territory, his green eyes catching sight of the Shadowclanners, and his nose wrinkling at the smell of asphalt. His feathery tail lashes behind him as he draws close enough to see a kitten stumble forth onto the path disregarding the orders of the other warriors, the ranger simply watches from where he stands, and doesn't bat an eye when he notes the approaching pawsteps of a monster that makes the ground shake.

His pupils narrowing into dangerous slits as he watches the scene unfold before him, how foolish of Shadowclan to bring a brood of kittens here, especially with the dangers that the Thunderpath brings and he has to hold a snort of disdain as one of the warriors snatch up the kitten from the asphalt river. The patchwork tomcat would've never brought his own kits to such a place and despite being a parent of five, he can't find an ounce of concern for the bratty kit that had decided to risk their own hide (and possibly their own clanmates), and a nonexistent brow quirks.

"I know it isn't any of my business nor do I fucking care but... doesn't it seem rather idiotic to bring unruly kits to the Thunderpath?" The tortoiseshell remarks sharply focusing his gaze onto the caregiver that seems to tag along with the rest of the warriors and his tail brushes against some of the foliage on his side of the border "And irresponsible too." He continues in a rather aloof tone but again, he doesn't care what small thought process these Shadowclanners had, after all, their grand leader is Sablestar himself. The very same tom that had severed the colony in half only for it to split and tore ruin for everyone... including himself.

He wouldn't wish any harm upon any of the kits in all truth but he saw no bright futures for any of them if the adults of Shadowclan are so dull and careless...

venom and sharpened words are normally thrown out from his jaws whenever he ends up on a patrol near shadowclan. this doesn't lessen in the slightest when he catches sight of his old flames either, if anything, he only feels angry and brandishes that anger as a weapon. the moggy isn't friendly to anyone outside of thunderclan and he's especially unkind to shadowclan.
