Quailstep had sent a silent thank you to Flowercloud when she assigned them to the unclaimed border. At least the chances of Mallowpaw causing tension between any of the other clans was reduced this way.
"I know there's not often other cats on this border, but don't let your guards down," she mewed. "There's always a chance some loner doesn't recognize a border in the fresh snow." The journey there had been uneventful, and a few of her Clanmates had even caught some prey along the way. Always a good thing, as leaf-bare bore down on them.
As they reached the border and began to mark with scent and claws, she spotted something just past a couple lone pines. Large clumps of snow, piled atop each other, with strange twoleg items sticking off the top and middle clumps.
"What is that?" she meowed, tilting her head in curiosity. "We ought to investigate, but apprentices do not get closer without a signal from myself or your mentors." There was a pointed glance at Mallowpaw. Carefully, she proceeded forward.
