————————————— The melody sings what the words can't say. ✦
Boarpaw was a stickler for obedience, it's how he was kept safe!! So when Copperstorm told him a while back to never cross the river, he was sure to listen. And when he was told to be wary of the Riverclan cats- Well. Well, Boarpaw's big heart made that rule a little wobbly. It was how the apprentice found himself separated from the hunting patrol he was brought along for.
In reality, he was chasing a squirrel or something of the like, but the pesky little beast skittered away from him and towards the river. He would go right back to the patrol once he caught the thing but he was surprised to watch to scramble across some protuding rocks on the river- 'The river?!' Boarpaw screeched to a halt, blinking stunned realising how far they had strayed. Sat now dumbfounded before the river between Thunderclan and Riverclan. He wouldn't dream of crossing, not even for prey (as much as his stomach grumbled defiantly), so instead he allowed himself a moment to catch his breath. Sighing as he plopped down to regain his surroundings.
Thankfully, he knew where he was, not too far from where Copperstorm had brought him. He wasn't lost! It was a great start. Retracing his steps to find the patrol would be a breeze. But it wouldn't do him any harm to take a moment to catch his breath and enjoy the sounds of the river... And footsteps.
The apprentice's eyes shot open from the lidded comfort he had settled into for the moment, taking in the sounds of the river. He looked behind him at first, assuming it was the patrol. And yet he was alone. So his eyes dragged along the river, like he was following the ghost of another squirrel, before his gaze settled on the other side of the river, and a sound of surprise left him. A cat, a small-ish one, an apprentice like him most likely.
That alone dampened any fear; the apprentices he met were nice! Except that smelly one at fourtrees, but maybe she just needed a friend. It was why Boarpaw stood up and took a step closer so he could call over the roar of the river, face knit with a warm smile. "Hiya there!! Are you from Riverclan?" He inquired, with a tilt of the head. Realistically, it was obvious they were, but it was only polite. 'My name'ths Boarpaw and I'm from Thunderclan.' The apprentice beamed, flicking his tail to motion backwards towards his home territory.
Boarpaw didn't really know what he might get from the interaction, there had been something awful happened in Riverclan a little while ago, so maybe the stranger would be grateful to see a kind face for a change!
