SO BURY ME AS IT PLEASES YOU, LOVER

There's a reprieve in all their walking, Asphodelpaw may be upset about it but they're sure that their lungs are rejoicing over this fact. It's started to snow during their journey, they can't tell how good of a thing this could be but as long as no one is turned around it should be fine. Instead they focus on the joy they feel seeing the snowflakes fall, even if they start to grimace as it dampened their pelt. They were excited to be able to pester their littermates about the change in weather. They never asked if Ponypaw or Bumblepaw enjoyed the snow themselves but when they were kits it always seemed exciting to play with. In the face of the stress involved with moving homes like this... Isn't a revisit to old memories something to look forward to?

"Ponypaw!" They call out in a chipper tone as they part from their mentor, bouncing up to the apprentice. "Make snowballs with me? Please?" They plead, trying to make their eyes as big as possible to her as if that would help their cause at all. The seal point takes the initiative to try and scrunch up as much of the fresh snow as they can, it's a difficult task since their paws can only do so much. They didn't have much opportunity to try as a kit either, since they were kept in the medicine cat den for a large chunk of their kit hood. In a way they suppose it made the snow feel more novel, with a swish of their they present the misshapen lump of snow to the she-cat.

"I bet the next piece of prey I find that you can't make a better one" not that they can actually bet prey, since it's for the clan rather than them... It's the thought that counts.

Ponypaw sneezes and wrinkles her nose as a wet snowflake lands on it. Older cats always talked about how fluffy and soft snow is, but never mention the cold! Right now, her paws feel as if they're going to freeze off, and the snow and ice had formed mats between her toes. Pretty soon, she'll have to start taking bigger steps if she wants to get through the high piles, and avoid being left behind.

She's broken out of her haze of misery when her littermate bounds up beside her.
"Asphodelpaw!" She happily shoves her shoulder against his, in greeting

"Huh, snowballs?" She tilts her head to the side as she watches Asphodelpaw shove some snow around with his paws, managing to form it into a small heap.
"Better than me? No way!" Ponypaw fluffed herself up. Usually, she would brush him off, saying that they should keep walking and stay with their mentors, so they don't get lost. With her littermates, though, she had a bit of a competitive streak - a fact Asphodelpaw was surely exploiting. She dove into the snow, paws stretched out in front of her, and began scooting around on her tummy, gathering up snow as she went. She was determined to make her heap bigger and better than Asphodelpaw's!

"Uh huh! I bet I can make like... Five in the time it takes you to make one!" She grins at her, tail flicking as he attempts to create another one. Admittently they're a little distracted with watching his littermate make her own, puffing out their chest as he realises that she in fact is most likely better than him at this. That's fine, the point is prioritizing speed rather than overall aesthetic. The admiration was quick to turn into friendly competition, squawking like a bird in surprise as she dives into the snow. Mirroring her movements he attempts to do the same in the pile of snow on the opposite side of her.

The sudden cold is a shock to a system, knocking the wind metaphorically and literally out from their lungs. With a shiver they don't let the shortness of breath stop him. Piling up as much snow as he can, tail wiggling in the air as he prepares to pounce onto another one. "How... Do you feel about the journey!?" He yells over the rushing heart beat in his ears, pausing his actions momentarily to look over at Ponypaw. "Have you seen anything cool! I thought I saw a cool bird! It was actually just a shadow..." He huffs in annoyance at the embarrassment he felt both in that moment and now as they're retelling it.

indent The question makes her pause, frozen comically with his front paws and chest buried in snow. At first, the idea of leaving home seemed... impossible. Like and insurmountable task that she would never overcome. But now-
"I think... I'm not as sad as I used to be, or as scared." She moved to sit, wrapping her fluffy tail neatly around her paws, and gazing thoughtfully at the falling snow. "Don't get me wrong, I still miss home! Sometimes, when I'm trying to sleep, I'll start thinking about our old den, and I'll miss it so much that I can't fall asleep at all." Her voice sounds sad, but when she turns to look at Asphodelpaw, she has a warm smile on her face. "But look at how far we've come! We've seen so many things, and slept in so many weird places, but we're still coming out just fine." A fraction of Ponypaw's usual timidness seemed to melt away, then, like the snowflakes that landed on her nose. The journey had been tough so far, but it had also been exciting! "If we've made it through this, I'm sure we could make it through anything."
