{$title} 101. successfully catch a piece of prey
BRINDLEFEATHER ──
thunderclan | forager
Normally, Brindlefeather isn't one to be out hunting for fresh-kill - he leaves that to the more skilled warriors during Greenleaf, when the prey is bountiful - but, well, it isn't Greenleaf anymore. Brindlefeather has started hearing less birds singing in the trees, and seeing less rodents scurrying across the forest floor. As if that wasn't enough, there's a nip in the air when the sun isn't up, now, a chill that Brindlefeather knows he'll feel in his bones in a matter of moons from now. There's no denying it - Leaf-bare is coming.
As he's making his usual rounds for the territory, eager to grab any interesting plants while they're still surviving the weather, Brindlefeather catches the familiar scent of prey, and in the distance he sees a small chipmunk searching the leaves for food. Ironic, he thinks as he crouches down, stalking forward with silent footfalls and widened eyes. Sorry, little guy. My Clanmates need to eat, too.
Once he's close enough, still carefully hidden from the chipmunk's sight, he pounces with sudden speed and kills it as swiftly as possible. He stares down at it for a few moments, a look of pity in his eyes, and quietly thanks it for its sacrifice before scooping it up in his jaws. With any luck, he might find more prey on the way back, or at least find a pretty flower or two.
