indentThe cats around here don't like it very much when Lavender - Lavenderkit, according to them - wanders off. In fairness, Fogsight had never liked it much before now, but he was only one cat, and keeping an eye on Lavenderkit at all times is impossible for him.

indentThis place is way more crowded, though. It feels like he can't get more than a few pawsteps out of the 'camp' before someone is picking him up by the scruff and putting him back in the 'nursery'. "You're too young! It's too dangerous. Wait 'till you're an Apprentice." The lectures make Lavenderkit's blood boil. He's not a wriggling worm, anymore! He won't explode as soon as he's a foxlength out of camp.

indentIf apprentices are capable of going out of camp, Lavenderkit will just bring one of them with him. "You said the river is over here, right, Boarpaw?" He hops alongside the massive apprentice. Lavenderkit can smell the fish and algae on the wind, but he can't help but ask. He's itching to get his paws wet.

indentWhen he begins to hear the rush of the water, he bounds forward, cheering. Water, water! The flat, rocky beach is warm underneath his paws, but Lavenderpaw has something other than basking on his mind. Something more exciting. He paces the edge of the river until he finds what he's looking for. A small, shallow pool, protected from the current by stones and driftwood. Giggling, he jumps in. The cool water comes up to his fuzzy belly, here. Maybe if he went further out, he could even swim?

Lavenderkit - 5 moons - Thunderclan Kit

The last time Boarpaw left camp with a kitten it was him being followed, but this time he was quite surprised to have been met by the request of Lavenderkit to join him to the river. They knew Lavvie had been growing frustrated being told what to and what not to do, and while Boarpaw was always one to listen to instructions, they knew it was stupid to argue. Instead, it only made sense to follow the kitten and keep him safe!

It was a nice bonus to get to enjoy the cool water of the river too; it was basically impossible for him to cool down from the huge mop of fur that coiled over his still-growing form. It wasn't like anyone would challenge him, either; it wasn't beyond him to know he looked like a warrior already, he stood now eye to eye with his own mentor, so that probably brought the tiny kitten some ease, too.

His attention was stirred by the kitten as Boarpaw gave him a toothy grin. "Yeah! It'sth only a little longer." He could probably run the rest of the way in under a minute flat with his huge stride, but instead he half-shuffled in his steps to keep in time with Lavvie. He might be small, but the kitten had a huge personality, and that alone was hard enough to keep up with.

Even Boarpaw's eyes had to light up at the sight of the water, like a weight off his shoulders. The giant apprentice had to giggle watching the kitten run to the water. He padded over quickly to follow in suit, gently padding into the little pool of water Lavvie had gravitated to, sighing with the feeling of cool water against heavy paws. Though his step into the water splashed the little pool, soaking the side of the kitten, snorting at the sight of the sodden little thing.

He sighed as he stretched, just running water over his paws already made him feel worlds better. "You were right, Lavvie, thisth was sthuch a good idea!" A rumbling purr reverberated in the back of his throat. Boarpaw hummed a little, eyeing up the deeper sections of the river.

It wasn't so deep that he would be washed off his paws, but with how big he was, he bet he could wade in. The apprentice looked around, like he would be caught sneaking around, before padding out further into the water, reaching higher and higher until he stopped where the water reached his belly, a contented grin upon his maw.

[GINGERFLAME]

At first, the cream forager had expected other warriors to stop the pair from leaving camp. He had trusted in the watchful eyes of the others to continue grabbing Lavenderkit by the scruff and plop them back in the nursery. Maybe they've gotten tired of it or maybe all of them were busy with other more demanding tasks, which let the kit run out of camp with Boarpaw. He's getting bigger. Maybe that big size hid Lavenderkit well from the other warriors. The only reason why Gingerflame was able to catch a glance of the kitten bounding happily out of camp was because he was working near the entrance of camp. Now, it wasn't a crime for kittens to be around the entrance of camp, but most would nudge them further into camp. He had expected Boarpaw to wrangle the kit in, only to witness the apprentice following the kit out of camp.

Did Gingerflame wait a few seconds? Yes. Why wouldn't he? He had full faith in Boarpaw bringing back Lavenderkit. Unfortunately, this faith was short-lived when the sound of nearing pawsteps was nowhere to be heard. Whatever task he'd been working on was pushed to the aside as he rose to his paws and began to look for the pair. It wasn't hard to find them to be honest. Boarpaw's massive frame was a dead giveaway, but in moments like these it was welcome. Instead of ruin their fun like a responsible warrior, he opts to trail the two from a distance. Ensuring his scent isn't picked up by them.

Unease grows as the trio make it to the Sunningrocks. He has half the nerve to cuff Boarpaw for bringing a kitten out this far. However, his frustration is eased when he watches as Lavenderkit cheers. Oh, Gingerflame always had a fondness for kits. He'd always known he wanted a family of his own growing up, but... It was hard. He couldn't have kits himself for one. The second issue was that he had no mate. One might say well go out there and try his paw at dating, but it was challenging enough to make friends within the clan. Most were offput by him and kept their distance. Granted, he was a bit pushy so it made sense. Still! It would be nice to have at least one friend.

Apparently, he was a little too lost in his thoughts that he failed to notice Lavenderkit in the river ( a shallow pool). It was by hearing Boarpaw that his soul nearly leapt out of his chest watching the small kitten in the water. NONE OF US CAN SWIM! Things only get worse when he sees Boarpaw venture deeper into the river. Now, while both were safe for now... Boarpaw should know better. Take your eyes off a kit for even a second and they're already up to no good.

It's at this moment the cream tabby emerges from his hiding spot. "This is the worst idea you've both ever had." He ignores Boarpaw for now, opting to approach Lavenderkit and block any attempt of going into deeper water. Red eyes never leave the kit. "You know very well you're not supposed to leave camp, Lavenderkit." A tail flicks in agitation. "Boarpaw. I may not be your mentor, but you should never keep your eyes off a kit for a second. The sunningrocks may be a nice spot to relax, but its also home to adders. I didn't see you check for any adders before letting Lavenderkit run into the water. You're lucky nothing bad happened." The silence that passes is tense. Boarpaw can hate him after this, but he can't ignore the fact that there is some truth. After all, if Gingerflame hadn't tailed them and an adder attacked Lavenderkit? Or if the kit drowned? What would the apprentice do? How would he live with the decision? And... What would the clan do to him for allowing a kit to go this far.

indent"Snakes don't swim, stupid!" Lavenderkit hisses at Gingerflame, who dared to try and ruin his fun. His tiny tail sticks straight up in the air, indignant. " 'sides, if a snake showed up I'd just run away from it! And Boarpaw would kill it for me. So, we'd be fine on our own." He jumps around a little, for emphasis. The shallow water around him splashes up, wetting his cotton-soft fur.

indentLavenderkit turns his back to Gingerflame and tries to get back to his fun, but the wind has left his wings. Halfheartedly, he bats at a small leaf floating on the surface of the water. It twirls and bobs in the eddies, but Lavenderkit doesn't find it as amusing as it should be. Adults really do ruin everything.

[Wildfirelullaby]

It felt as though every time Wildfirelullaby was by the Sunning Rocks there was something bad happening - or about to happen - to a cat. Admittedly that wasn't quite true - he'd been through plenty of times without issue - but more things were beginning to stack up, and apparently there were always careless apprentices behind it. He heard the voices, heard the mention of "worst idea you've both ever had", and by the time he had made it there fully and saw the cats that were being spoken to he almost felt his heart leap out of his throat.

"If you think that then clearly you're not old enough - or trained enough - to be out here." He found himself responding to Lavendarkit, ears pricked soon after as maw was open to see if he could smell or hear any snakes, relaxing just a moment when there was nothing in the immediate area that he had noticed. "I've seen snakes swim, and they're fast, faster than Boarpaw would be trying to get at it to save you." Was it harsh? Maybe, but there were rules for a reason, whether it be snakes coming by and taking a kit for it's lunch or the fear of drowning while out this far.
