They burst through the flimsy attempt at a veil between the medical hutch and the outdoors, waltzing like it is a place he belongs simply because he believes himself welcome. Though they are certain Cicadabuzz would nip at their heels to chase them out should it be in a foul mood, the healer of a more prickly, prying nature is not of their focus. Instead, they squint flame-bright eyes against the dull, sullen darkness, picking out the moonlight flecks of their friend where he cannot meld completely into shadow.
"Maggieeee," he sing-songs as he slithers closer, peering over the sulking shoulder of a subtly shaking ally. "Please tell me you've got like.. some time so hang out with me today, yeah? I found mushrooms we can steal if we get there before Cicadafuzz does." It wasn't that many moons ago when the bi-color apprentice had threatened Pipitpaw himself might turn into fungi given his penchant for licking the tops of toadstools. (They were hungry, okay, it was a choice made for survival.... so what if they'd developed a taste for it anyways?)
"Oh, also, yanno that Monster Tree? I was snoopin' around and... I think I can help ya get up in there so we can look around... It's been asleep since I was a kit, there's no way it'll wake up now. It has to be dead... like... it hasn't eaten... unless you think maybe it has....," he lets the mystery hang in the air as a playful trick and a treat to be admired. Maybe curiosity would pull the grumpy apprentice out of his shell.
"Let'cha throw a pinecone at my head if I'm wrong."
