Should she really be tempting fate like this? After everything that happened at the other border, logic would dictate that Webpaw should stick to the inner parts of ThunderClan territory for at least a season.

Unfortunately, logic was never Webpaw's strong suit.

Her wounds from the skirmish were minor - she'd made it out far luckier than some of her Clanmates. However, that attack on the SkyClan cat... what a fucking embarassment! How could she have messed up that badly?

Part of her wanted to blame Dewshine, but the other part of her knew... she had to just get better. Webpaw needed practice, and she needed it with someone who wouldn't be afraid to hold back. Unfortunately, everyone in camp was too busy or whatever. Time to go practice moves alone. And far, far away from anyone who would watch her.

So, the apprentice found herself wandering the area near the border with ShadowClan. She wouldn't dare get in trouble for crossing a border again, but she could at least practice her moves in one of these open areas. And things seemed okay with ShadowClan, so if someone from the other side of the border saw her, she probably wouldn't get beat up just for existing. Webpaw made her way to a little clearing and stretched, first starting with some jumps and leaps, then moving on to slashing at the air in front of her.

She was so invested that she didn't notice: someone was watching her from across the border.

Amber eyes flared in the dark, tracking the fumbling apprentice across the thunderpath. From the shaded side of the border, she had a front-row seat to… whatever the fuck this was.

Fleafire watched the weird dance with a scowl. What the hell were they teaching over there in ThunderClan? No wonder they'd had to knock Coalstrike in front of a monster to kill him. Even when she'd been an apprentice, swinging at bushes that hit harder than she did, she hadn't looked this pathetic.

She could still hear Froststorm, the toms voice gargling against her ear, clear as yesterday—Don't train alone. It only reinforces bad habits. Well, he'd been right like he always was. Listening to him had made her into a warrior. One that might've even surpassed Coalstrike if he lived long enough to see it. Fleafire had to admit, what they did to Coalstrike was crafty. The tom was a skilled fighter. Didn't matter who they were. Any cat would've had a hard time taking on that mean bastard. One day, she might steal that nasty trick for herself, not that she needed to.

The silver tabby across the way looked grown enough, bigger than her, but that didn't take much. She wondered if they thought they were actually gonna pick up something from hitting the air.

The warrior watches them flail a bit longer before she can't hold it in anymore. A snort forces through her nostrils. "You might wanna give up now!" Fleafire jeered, a sneer cutting across her muzzle. "I think you already lost." Actually, she was pretty sure they lost like forever ago.

And I'll burn the wick at both ends

Fleapaw values family the most with survival at a close second. In conversations, she is blunt, fun-loving, and clever. She is guided by her desires which often leads her astray. Despite her abrasive personality, she cares deeply for those she loves and will do anything to protect them. Due to her experiences, Fleapaw is corrupt and has minimalistic, if any, morals. She does not care for the warrior code and its restraints. Neither does she believe in StarClan. Growing up in a kitten mill, being separated from her mother, and ending up on the streets have deeply affected her view of the world.

I always knew life wasn't fair.

Webpaw nearly jumped out of her pelt at the intrusion on her thoughts. The silver tabby whirled around, bobbed tail wiggling back and forth in anger.

"Yeah, well, who asked you?" she spat. Her sleek fur raised along her spine, little spikes of fluff that meant to intimidate but likely did nothing but make her seem a little ragged.

Truthfully, Webpaw felt heat rise below her pelt, embarassment seeping into her. It was definitely stupid-looking, attacking the air and the bushes, but she had to practice when she could! Otherwise, she'd be held back from being a warrior because she was such a failure of an apprentice. Not like it was entirely her fault.

Webpaw padded foward, eyes narrowing as she moved closer to the border. The other cat was pretty small, probably an apprentice too, by the size of her! Where did she get the audacity to criticize?

"Don't you have your own mentor you should be learning from, instead of trying to tell other Clans' apprentices how to train?"
