As the majority of Riverclan had returned to their duties after the meeting, Torrentsky's gaze had remained fixed on where Pikestar had secluded to at the edge of camp. Howlingkit had accepted her new name, and whether or not it felt against her will, Torrentsky didn't know. Forcing the fur along his neck to lie flat, the young warrior made his way over to the leader, his posture stiff as his tail tip flicked back and forth above the ground.
How could he? Was howlingkit's feelings taken into account at all? Torrentsky swallowed a growl that threatened to rise against his throat—he refused to boil over.
"Pikestar," Torrentsky began once he had reached the silver tom, his large paws coming to a halt against the earth. His mew was strained tight as it rolled off his tongue, like a thread just moments away from snapping. "I honor the name that's been given to me, but the decision you've made for Howlingkit seems rather harsh, don't you think?" Torrentsky pressed, his gaze traveling over the toms face. "She nearly died–and you strip her name from her?" He continued, eyes flashing with disbelief.
Torrensky shook his head, exhaling as a few moments passed. "If Howlingkit decides she wants to remain Melodykit, I hope you'll do what's in her best interest." He meowed, before parting his jaws one last time. "But help me understand, and what I'm sure the rest of Riverclan is wondering, why you've insisted on changing her name at all?"
