She has a duty to two cats in the barn, now. Or maybe not a duty, per se, but an obligation... Meadow seemed awfully fond of him already, and Nutmeg just can't ignore that. Can't ignore the fact that he had lost his mom, can't ignore that she had promised the barn was warm and safe. Now its her duty to ensure that, just like she ensured it would be for Meadow. Her early morning is spent hunting, having a quick chat with her little sister, telling her she loved her and bidding her a goodbye. Her morning, proper time now, is spent hunting for wherever Peafowl had found himself for the night. A mouse hangs limply from her mouth, clutched between gentle teeth.

When she finally spots him, she dips her head, making herself smaller so she wouldn't appear... threatening, maybe, or maybe shes just not sure why she did it at all. She drops the mouse and it lands with a dull thud, and she seats herself properly with her tail coming to wrap around her paws. "Hey, lil guy, how are you feeling...?" she awkwardly manages out, curled ears swiveling backwards as she pushes the dropped mouse towards him. "I brought you breakfast... Figured you'd be hungry," she murmurs, gritting her teeth as she thinks of what to say. Well... She had stashed that bird away for later, so she offers a quick, "Are you settling in okay? Nest soft enough? I have some feathers, if you need them..."

The barn was as comfy and cozy as the others insisted.
Peafowl was quick to settle in after some last minute socializing; chasing Pebble around as he learned the layout of his new home, meeting some new faces, and finding a little nook of his own for the night. It happened and ended so quickly, and then he was greeted by the soft warmth of the sun in the morning.
All of the previous night's events came rushing back. It was difficult for a moment. A small pang of guilt and the acceptance that life had changed so absolutely. That things would be different now. It should have been overwhelming for a child– for anybody- but he had been welcomed so warmly, Peafowl couldn't help but look onwards. There were countless things for him to focus on and learn. So many cats for him to meet and befriend.
His new life started with a bang. All in a matter of hours.

Peafowl stood from his nest, designed by himself and his friends, personally for him, and stretched with a wide yawn before shaking bits of hay from his fur. Taking a look around, it was clear the morning had already settled in. There were far fewer faces in the barn than he remembered seeing last night, but sleeping in was a virtue he desperately needed. Peafowl offered a good morning, or a confirmation he was fine and well as he made his way outside.
Peafowl sat down on the damp, snowy grass. Looking out across the fields with refreshed eyes. He mused all the different places other cats around here came from. If their journeys were long and what pushed them to uproot in the first place. He wondered how many of them were here all along. His expression changed as often as his ears shifted with each soft breeze, contemplative, but content. Everybody here chose to stay here for a reason.

Peafowl's eyes locked onto motion in the near distance, a flash of warm ginger approaching the barn. He watched them curiously; the gears in his mind turning before his expression lit up. It was Nutmeg! Peafowl's tail beat against the ground before standing up to greet her. "Hi miss Meggy! I'm feelin' good, I slept warm and cozy. Mom an' I were in the snow the last few nights, so I slept sound." Hopefully, much to Nutmeg's relief, the kitten was plenty thrilled to see her. Perhaps it was because Meadow was the first encounter he had, but the bond between the siblings imprinted that same comfy familiarity towards Nutmeg. They were a unit and Peafowl viewed them as such.
His ears stood tall when the mouse was offered to him and he didn't hesitate to eat up. Hopefully when the ground thawed more, he could try finding some mice himself. They were fast and sneaky, but he's gotten close to catching them.
When he finished, Peafowl lifted his head with a question he was holding against his desire to eat: "Where's Meadow? Is she sleepy this mornin'?"
