PEBBLEPAW
You taught me the courage of stars before you left. How light carries on endlessly, even after death
The search for Alder wasn't an easy one, but that was okay. Pebble told himself it would all be worth it in the end. The sneaking out, the wandering, the aching paws... every bit of it would be worth it when he finally saw faer again. He'd smile at faer. Tell faer how much he missed faer.
It would be like it was... Back then. And... and maybe, maybe even their own parents would find them too. They'd all be together again. Mama Alder had looked after them so well, now it was time for them to do the same. To come home.
And-- Oh.
He blinked, ears twitching, as he caught sight of Ice. The glum look on his face vanished: poof! Quickly replaced with a too-bright smile as his tail gave an awkward little twitch. He hadn't expected anyone to catch him sneaking out again. He definitely hadn't expected her. Ice didn't believe. She didn't think Alder was still out there. But that was okay. He understood. So much had happened... he'd make her smile again, too, when he brought faer back.
" Oh! Hello, Ice! " he meowed cheerfully, padding toward her with his usual chirp. " What are you doing up so late? " Then, quick as a flash, he spoke once more. " I just took a dump right over there! Had the worst cramps, didn't wanna stink up the whole camp! "
He bumped up against her with a casual little flick of his tail, like that had definitely been the plan all along.
