It has been 100 or more years since then, the clans of the forest are but distant memories to any cats still alive, stories passed down to kits of strangely named wild warriors and leaders with nine lives but the time of the clans is upon us once more and the stars shine yet again.

A shrike hopped between the branches of the pines as Fujimoto maneuvered between them, trying to keep up against the wind. Paws moved with thoughtful intent as his claws wrapped around the bark of each perch, tail winding behind him to keep balance. Fujimoto grit his teeth with effort as he pushed against the breeze and huffed as he struggled to sustain the pace.
Just this one, and the the patrol can go home!" The torbie thought while they leapt for the next tree, tunneling their vision on the black-banded bird. One more, one more bird and they would see each den fed for the day. His movements lost thought, becoming mechanical as he closed in on the shrike, taking on one more leap.
A claw's length too short, Fuji scraped against bark before plummeting down. His paws reached for the air as his body began to turn, but the ground came too soon. The Sun Guard landed on his side with a painful thud against the ground, but all Fuji could hear was the crunch inside his body. The pain was enough for him to lose his voice, unable to scream while he dug into the soil and grimaced. Fujimoto pressed his forehead into the ground, a muffled groan the only sound he could bear.
