Slugpaw loathed Talonpaw.

The tom had come out of nowhere and started one upping him at absolutely everything. It wasn't fair. Slugpaw was a born and raised Windclanner, and he was used to being the absolute best without so much as flexing his paw. But now this annoying mouse-brained outsider wanted to come and one up him? It made his claws flex instinctively in the dirt. Not to mention he was getting awful close to Meadowpaw, something he hated to admit made him jealous.

  A brown marbled tabby tom with ginger eyes, a nicked right ear, and half a tail from a prior incident in his kithood.

  
  slugpaw is a smaller than average apprentice, much to his annoyance. He is lithe, thin, but he isn't exactly someone to underestimate in battle or hunting. Under his fur is muscle tone from being a tunneler, his legs are quick, and until recently this was part of his reason to boast. His fur is on the longer side, fluffy despite having slim legs. He is a fully brown tom, with darker brown markings on his tail, face, and pelt. His underside is a lighter shade, with his back paws following this lightening. He is missing half of his tail from an unfortunate meeting with a fox trap in his kithood. He is also missing half of his right ear from a sibling scuffle when he was a young apprentice. • From a young age, it's clear that Slugpaw has talent. Even as a kit, he seemed to excel at things faster than his littermates, hitting milestones that his older siblings took much longer to achieve. Being such a talent and quick study, he is met with praise from his parents. The praise grows higher the older he gets, and eventually he becomes a bit of an egomaniac, slurping up the attention and praise like a sponge. When he is apprenticed, his mentor and other warriors of the clan begin to take note of his skills and being praised becomes somewhat of a crutch and a reliance for the young tom. He has his eyes on the medicine cat apprentice Meadowpaw --- though he is a touch too timid to actually approach her, but part of his success is in the hopes she'll notice him as well.
  
  However, recently a loner named Talon (Talonpaw) has joined the clan. The tom is larger than Slugpaw, younger than Slugpaw, and somehow seems to be one upping him at everything. It starts with mild annoyance, but it blossoms into a full blow loathing for the tom. Not to mention that him and Meadowpaw seem to be awfully close, another point of annoyance for the tom. No matter how hard Slugpaw tries, Talon seems to be better than him in every regard. His snappy and condescending attitude comes out in full swing at Talon, who seems blissfully unaware that the pair aren't just having banter.
  
  Slugpaw has taken to desperate measures, with his ruthless and cunning attitudes assisting him at making new friends in dark places...

  Slugkit is born to two former loners who joined Windclan just before his only child older sibling, Wormpaw is born. Their eldest litters follows, becoming warriors of Windclan alongside their parents. Slugkit is born in Windclan, the only home he ever knows. His littermates consist of Snailpaw and (insert name if they ever get adopted). From a young age, it is clear that Slugkit has talent. He learns quickly, doing things faster than his littermates and even hitting milestones faster than his siblings ever had. His parents praise him, and eventually he grows accustomed to this praise. He wants more, and strives to be the best in every area.
  
  While trying to show off that he could hunt before he was apprenticed, his tail is caught in a fox trap just beyond the clan border. Slugkit lives, but his tail is reduced to half of it's original size. Slugkit wears this like a badge of honour.

  APPRENTICEHOOD

  JUL '25 - JAN '26 x

  He is apprenticed alongside his littermates, all three of them choosing to follow the path of tunneler, much like their parents and older siblings. While celebrating in the apprentice den, their littermate (unnamed) gets too overzealous and accidentally tears Slugpaw's ear --- resulting in a trip to the medicine den and a torn ear for the rest of his life. Another badge of honour that Slugpaw is able to wear.
  
  He is apprenticed to Weaselchirp, an experienced tunneler that sees his potential and also praises him, much to his excitement. Even other warriors in the clan begin to notice, and Slugpaw grows used to hearing the praise for his skill in all areas. She is a bit older than him, but Slugpaw has certainly taken notice of Meadowpaw. He tries even harder to get praise when she's around, hoping that she'll pay attention to him. However, when the tom is eight moons, a new face appears in the clan: Talon (Talonpaw) a loner than decides to join Windclan. At first, Slugpaw pays little attention to him, focusing on his training. But it quickly becomes apparent that Talon is just as talented as he is, perhaps even moreso. It is immediately frustrating for the tom, especially because Talon is his age and larger than him. Not to mention, due to injuries and his own reckless nature he gets to spend extra time with Meadowpaw. The two seem to be getting quite close as well.
  
  Slugpaw tries his best to one up Talon, but he feels as though he's coming up short in every area. He starts working harder, tirelessly. Exhausted more quickly, growing more and more furstrated that despite his talent --- Talon is still better. The tom even seems blissfully unaware at just how much Slugpaw loathes him.
  
  Slugpaw begins to grow desperate, and in his dreams he is visited by a beautiful molly: Thistlewish. She wants to help him, offering to make him better --- offering to help him be better than Talon. However, Slugpaw was blissfully unaware that deals like this come with a price... (this hasn't happened yet shh)
