Ashen was sneaking around inside of the barn, using his hiding places in the hay so he wouldn't easily get noticed or seen by strangers he was forced to live alongside with his mother. If only it could just be him and her who lived here. How better life would have been then!. Now he had to sneak around like a shadow hunter instead on a watch out for more treasures he could steal and claim for himself. Today however things had been a bit slow. Nobody had yet returned with any prey of interest for the kit, no prey with feathers....It was a bit disappointing and as time kept on passing Ashen's patience was starting to run low. Hmp!. This was so unforgivable to let him wait this long. After having twitched his nose Ashen decided to get himself out from the hay to approach the entrance of the barn closer to see if he could spot anyone out there.
He did not want to approach to close to the opening though so when he got closer the gray spotted kit run himself over to the barns wall for protection. From there he approached slowly the entrance closer until he dared peak his head past the wall to take a look outside. It was just like he rememberd it all the other times he had been brave enough to peak outside. Scary and terrifying. Ashen ears fell back and just when he was about to turn back inside he saw it, a feather well protected by one of the hens. It was white with black spots on it, the exact coloration he lacked having in his feather collection. He wanted it!, he wanted it!. But how?.
The kit's ears perked up and for a brief second it look like he was about to take a step outside, one of his paws even got lifted up in the air but suddenly the kit changed his mind as he took severely steps back instead with a shaking head. Ashen cast a longing look outside again at the feather that was so close yet so far away....unable to step outside he instead laid himself flat down on the barn's floor as he kept on staring outside, at the pretty feather he so badly wanted but was unable to collect. He continues to lay like that, still and unmoving, with only his throat rumbling with frustration. Maybe if he stared long enough it would come to him magically.
