With a gentle intake of breath, the caretaker awoke.

At first, he did not see much, did not feel much—it was as though his body was entirely apart from him, but he still stood on his two frosty paws as easily as ever. His mind buzzed, chilled by something he was not yet aware of, and yet strangely, inexplicably calm. It was calm, the place he found himself in—and perhaps the best description of nothing the tom had ever had the pleasure (or displeasure) of witnessing. Timber was unaware of the floor beneath him, and yet he surely stood on something—there was a terrible white light from somewhere, permeating the very essence of his being, and yet he could nearly forget that it even existed. He could even forget he existed, it was though he tried to think through a fluffy cloud, encompassing his soul entirely, and dampening what pain he had felt before.

Pain he had felt before… he had felt something, he had been something, he just couldn't quite… The chocolate tom startled for a brief moment as he saw a paw reach out—his own, surely—and for a moment he did not realize he had moved at all. What had he been reaching for..? It must not have been important, and he lost that thought easily in the hazy mist around him. At least, he thought it was mist. It may have been cold, if he could have felt it, but he wasn't exactly sure… Many things, many things he wasn't sure about…

Once again, he startled himself back to existence. Yes, right, he existed. He… he was—
"Hello?" He spoke aloud, awkward as a newborn kit speaking his first word. "I'm— I'm Timberfrost." The caretaker spoke this into existence, and he held onto the thought greedily. Yes, that was who he was, wasn't it? He was Timberfrost, he had been given that name by… by someone. Once more, he spoke the same affirmation. "My name is Timberfrost." The tom echoed, somewhat stronger this time. "And… And this—This is not my home…"

He was not sure where this was, much less where he ought to be, but the longing to be home still rang in his heart. He needed to be home, this was no place for Timberfrost… if only, if only he could figure out where to go…

With hazy eyes and unsure step, the tom started ahead… though where he was headed, he could not begin to guess.

"Fray!!" The molly's meow echoed into the mist... and just as before, nothing replied in turn. She must have traversed the murky depths of this land for ages now, surprised not to have found the corners of it with how long her paws carried her through. But no matter how many days she spent in the gloom, she maintained hope that Fray's wandering self would appear eventually. It would be her greatest gift of gratitude to Thornstar after all, to return his father to the stars after sacrificing his life for the Clans.

So far, though, he remained elusive. Fleecefur had come upon her sooner than the old tom, and an old molly from the barn had passed her by not long ago either. Another would come across her path today, too, one she did not expect to find especially smelling of ShadowClan. If it weren't for the sudden inhale, or meek mew, Coffeestar would have had a hard time ignoring the glowing light erupting from his body. Unusual... was he supposed to be here?

"Hello, Timberfrost." The SkyClanner meowed warmly, her sparkling pelt parting from the thick fog. "I'm Coffeestar, a friend to StarClan. You don't look too well..." Despite the life that still burst from him in the form of light, his body was still weak. Perhaps from whatever was pulling him into this world.

Coffeestar stood comfortably in his presence, however, as if he were just another Clanmate to her. "Yet, it doesn't appear to be your time, either. That's a relief." And how kind that this place was not making her witness the last waning moments of this toms life! A shame one of ShadowClan's might could have ended up here instead of the stars embrace... Another of her blind spots in trying to return StarClan to its full strength. At the thought, a force twinged within the fluff of her chest fur, pulling her toward Timberfrost.

Him? Really? She questioned within, knowing the answer already. There was something peculiar about this tom, but he seemed so lost and dazed... would he even understand what it meant? Timberfrost, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to help you return to your home and kin. Would you let me?"
