Littlebrook stood at the river's edge, water lapping at her paws as the sunlight shimmered off the surface. Torrentpaw was beside her, like a young gup ready to learn the ways of the water, the ways to dive down. Anticipation ... And perhaps a hint of nerves. With a warm smile, she gave him a gentle nudge with her shoulder, eyes twinkling. " Breath is your anchor. " she said softly, voice low and even, made for calming uncertain paws. " Hold it like you're holding a pebble in your chest. Not too tight. Not too loose. Just… steady. Don't worry if it feels strange at first. "
She glanced down at him, her eyes kind, patient. " No cat learns this in one go. You'll mess up. Swallow a bit of river. Kick the wrong way. That's fine. It's good. Means you're learning. Don't rush. You've got time. " she assured the young paw, then finding her gaze moving up, to the place where she saw Pineheart watching this all. It caused a glint of fondness to lit upon her face, a quick and playful wink was tossed his way before she turned her full attention back on Torrentpaw.
" Watch closely. " she meowed softly and without another word, she stepped into the shallows. Water curled around her chest, then her chin. A deep breath. Stillness. And then she slipped beneath the surface like a river-stone falling, silent, smooth, sure. Bubbles rose in her wake as she disappeared beneath the blue-green sheen, leaving only the ripples behind. It remained still for a while longer before suddenly ,she emerged again, taking in a breath and shaking her head once before smiling over at Torrentpaw.
" The water is great today. A good day for learning. "
