Rabbit Hop-

Rabbit Hop wasn't sure how long they'd been walking, him trailing half-heartedly after his brother as sharp winds buffeted them. It had been several days, and he was hungry, and cold - of those three things he was sure. Descending the mountain had been treacherous, avoiding predators and ice and gaping crevices that threatened to swallow him whole. It hadn't helped that they didn't really have a destination. Their parents were dead, and the mountain was already inhospitable enough for a family unit. Two young cats? They didn't stand a chance. They thought maybe, just maybe, the lower realm would offer safety and food. Thus far, he was hungrier and colder than he'd ever been up at home, but he trusted Burning Gaze. He knew his brother would never lead them astray. They just needed to learn how to hunt properly - surely that would come with practice. If they didn't starve to death first.

As they plodded along, one after the other, Rabbit Hop froze. He can hear something beneath his paws. A skittering, like claws over stone. Some sort of creature below them? Had they unknowingly stumbled into a trap? He launched himself forward and forced Burning Gaze to the ground, shushing him sharply.
"Do you hear that?"
He whispered. His brother seemed clueless, but the sounds were getting closer, louder. The creature must have scented them. From the sounds, it appeared to have many, many legs. He trained his ears to the sound, trying to pinpoint exactly where their foe might emerge from the ground.

Then, he realized rather sheepishly, he could hear voices. Several. So it was several creatures, not just one giant one. Was that... better? As he tried to decide, a faint catscent hits his nose.
"Cats!"
Rabbit Hop mewed in wonder. He didn't know other cats lived in that part of the mountains. Finally, the footsteps are loud enough that they seem to be directly underneath them. A heartbeat later, the tips of a cat's ears appear, followed by several more. He couldn't tell how many there are, but he'd guess at least five. They emerged from a tunnel mouth below, obscured by stone and ice. Rabbit Hop pressed himself to the frozen earth, hoping the days of traveling through the mountains would disguise their scent. He held his breath.

They quickly began to disperse, though they all walked in vaguely the same direction. Rabbit Hop watched until they were out of sight, down an unseen path. Turning to Burning Gaze, he let out a small relieved breath.
"What now?"
