The steady thrum of her heart alerts her to the fact she shouldn't be out here right now. There's something exhilarating about it though, venturing off without her sisters, as fond as she is of them she knew they wouldn't approve. They'd be within reason to she thinks, as she too would not approve of either of them doing the same. Chestnutpaw couldn't help it though, she had met Duchess by pure chance with her sisters and there has been a consistent gnawing desire to keep meeting her. It's the unknown she thinks, how tantalizing is it to meet someone who you thought was lost? A phantom memory, it makes the risk of crossing the border worth it she thinks. The concrete of Twolegplace is strange and shamefully she has to admit that she's lost, with no real location in mind she's left on a retreat. It's tactical of course, the distant dog barking was what drove her away and not the frustration that she can't hold onto her mothers scent in such scent polluted air.
"Mother?" To her surprise the cat she had been looking for is only spotted upon her journey back to the border. The flame wreathed molly is stumbled upon as Chestnutpaw turns down an alley, ready to cross the path that blocks her way and scamper far from the monsters until she touched the lush grass of SkyClan once more. She's perhaps a little bold in her movements, a trait she has gained from her pompous parent as a birthright. With a puffed coat she approaches the older cat with warmth, daring to cross the space to sit next to her. There is restraint, she doesn't greet her mother with affectionate touched as much as she may secretly like to. The smoke wanted to appear somewhat dignified, as her mother she too places a lot of stock in her appearance.
"I can't be here for long but..." her words trail off as she warily glances at the cityscape behind her. "I wanted to see you" to catch up on all they have both missed. To prove that she's no stranger, that she has a right in her life and that her daughter has that right in kind. It's stubborn, naive maybe. Maybe she did inherit some of Milkheart's softness as well, maybe she doesn't mind that trait showing in the limited shade they share underneath the sunlit sky.
