The cold from the mountains reaches them, Shepherd can't help but grimace at the sight of snowflakes falling from the skies above and he knows that it'll be harder for them to find food once leaf-bare settles into the earth's skin. His torn ears twitch as he slips out from the hollowed out tree that they have known as their current home until they needed to move once more, they didn't necessarily stay in the same place, and he didn't want to run into any other loners while they rest here. His large helm turning at the sound of shuffling paws, the eldest had taken the first steps outside to wince at the sight of falling snow and he remains silent despite the low grumble that slips out from his throat.

"Leaf-bare has arrived..." A huff slips out from powerful jaws as he makes no effort to hide his frustration and he supposes that things are easier given that its just him and his littermates, although, his mind briefly thinks of rich chocolate toned fur against his own, scarred maw, burly muscles with ocean-like eyes peering back at him, and his frustration only grows. Shep tries not to think of his former mate too much knowing that if he wallows in his own self-pity then he might ruin the chances of survival for himself and his family, they're his priority, and always have been from the start. He doesn't know how leaf-bare will treat them this season knowing that the last one had nearly cost him his own life, a phantom pain causes his marred leg to twitch, and he can't hide the wince that forms on his face.

He had foolishly tried getting a rabbit for him and the rest of his siblings but he hadn't been paying attention to the asphalt river that belonged to the monstrous creatures that race across it for their own prey. Most of it is a blur, Shep doesn't try lingering on the memory for long instead deciding to rise to his paws ignoring how the cold eagerly gnaws at the exposed tissue that wrap around his leg that he oftentimes lets drag if he isn't putting any weight on it. As the eldest, he tries to think of what they should do in terms of preparing for leaf-bare and he can only hope that the prey continues to linger for a while longer or they'd have to move closer to the Twolegplace... he'd prefer to keep out of that place but he knows that if they wanted an easy meal then there best bet is there.

Shep didn't enjoy depending on twolegs to provide for them but whatever made sure that there's something in all of their bellies, he would swallow his own pride to ensure their survival, and his large paws shuffle on the ground despite how his permanent limp tries to knuckle against the ground. "We should try finding some warmer bedding for our nests... it'll get cold tonight." It'd be the least of their worries in the end given to their plush coats but he didn't want any of their paws to get bitten by the frost or for any of them to catch a cold, the wolfish tom knows that they couldn't afford losing anyone and he wouldn't be strong enough... if anything ever befell his littermates.

"speech", thoughts, attacking
a mountainous tom with a silvery sepia pelt with several scars littered on his body from battles and a permanent limp leg that is coiled by scarred tissue that was caused by a monster striking him. he has a pair of earthy toned eyes and cannot see that well from one of them, his ears are tattered, and bears a vreccale collar around his throat with some of the sharp ends having grown dull over time.
brother of of mistletoe, shake, and flurry; ex-mate to gasoline

upon first meeting, shep isn't the friendliest nor the warmest cat to meet. he's large tom with scars littered all over his body, half blind, and he isn't keen on taking chances with strangers. he has a permanent limp that oftentimes gives him trouble and had been received by his recent run-in with a monster. he can put weight onto it but its visibly weaker than his other front limb and will knuckle/drag on the ground if he isn't putting weight on it.
