HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE SHADOWCLAN HUNGER GAMES !

As winter descends upon the pocosin, many of those from the colony days will be made to remember why Sablestar was the catalyst to the Colony's split. As temperatures drop and prey depletes, your leader will pressure each and every rank to prevent the Clan from starvation while his grip on the Clan forms into strict iron.

The Hunger Games officially starts today, October 9th, and will end on March 19th, the day before Spring. Because of the duration of this event (SIX MONTHS!) there will be plenty of methods and time for characters to participate and help grow ShadowClan's reputation across the forest. This event will be semi-unpredictable, and the results each month will impact the entire Clan and heavily persuade Sablestar's patience and mercy to mistakes. The purpose of this event however is to help expand on the Specializations within ShadowClan, which means you will have a more immersive experience by aligning your character to either a Trapper or Thief.

HOW IT WORKS

On the first of each month, a D10 will be rolled in ShadowClan's announcement channel to determine if the Clan struggles to hunt within the pocosin. A negative modifier will be in effect, increasing or decreasing depending on how close the next season is. From that D10, a result of 6 or greater will mean that the pocosin generally is not suffering from an intense lack of prey. However, anything less than a 6 will bring in added pressure from Sablestar and determine whether or not his warriors will begin targeting the other Clans.

The modifiers for each month are as follows:
OCTOBER: -1
NOVEMBER: -2
DECEMBER: -4
JANUARY: -6
FEBRUARY: -4
MARCH: -2

PLEASE do your best to post threads in time with the appropriate monthly result. For this event I would like to limit the use of backwritten threads to prevent potential spam and confusion from participants, especially when involving another Clan.

The tasks for each specialization will include the following:
TRAPPERS will tasked with 'scouting' borders and listening in on passing patrols. Figure out their situation in prey to determine who is the most plentiful to steal from! They will also be responsible for rotating which spots in the pocosin to hunt in so that they aren't taking too much prey and leaving it totally barren. The territory will be split up into 3 parts: the southeast most border to The Barrens will be ZONE 1, the path from Fourtrees to the east most border, including the monster tree, is ZONE 2, and the remaining northern part of the territory including camp, is ZONE 3. Be sure to collaborate with your leader/deputy and other trappers each month before posting!

THIEVES will at first be encouraged to steal from twolegplace and eventually the junkyard. To a degree Sablestar may encourage Thieves to eat kittypet food on their outings to keep themselves sustained if they must. This will eventually escalate to encourage stealing from the other clans, with more frequent thefts dependent on the current politics. Before targeting the main forestbound Clans, Thieves are free to interact with the Rustclaws and WarriorClan cats as well and potentially collaborate deals and trades, or otherwise completely ransack the place. Sablestar trusts your judgement! Thieves be sure to work with Trappers before advancing on stealing from another Clan, it would be embarrassing to invade a territory just as empty as your own...

RULES & GUIDELINES

After the D10 is rolled, players should direct to ShadowClans plotting channel and work together on where to put their efforts to hunt between their trappers and thieves. This plot is more open ended due to it's nature, so don't hesitate to get creative! The HP team will be largely engaged right beside you.

While there is no formal mechanic to classify a 'successful' theft to keep the spirit of rp unpredictable, players are allowed to make up their own contesting mechanics if they prefer! Successful thefts will also be per thread, so even if your character did not specifically catch anything, participating still counts!

Try not to overwhelm boards/Clans with theft attempts. It is encouraged to plot the instance occurring with the opposing group just as a small warning before creating any threads. Best practice should be that if you see a theft attempt on the first page of the opposing Clan and it has not been concluded or still actively receiving responses, you should hold on posting your own.

Your character(s) are entirely capable of expanding their attention to other Clans before Sablestar is ready himself. Be aware though defying his direction does come with in-character consequence, varying case by case.

There is no pecking order in who gets fed first in ShadowClan. The nursery sustains itself through the Caregivers (and if they have mates/friends willing to step in) but otherwise the freshkill pile has always been seen as first come first serve, if prey even makes it to the pile at all.

LIST OF PROMPTS

These 'prompts' are just loose ideas and options you may elaborate on!
TRAPPERS:
- your patrol lingers with another. sablestar said he wanted you to get whatever information possible, however you can; how do you achieve this?
- another patrol gets suspicious of your questions, how do you recover?
- you pulled the short straw sharing the news that a zone has been emptied, who do you tell first?
- you've got the idea to scout a bit in another clans territory at night, who do you bring?
- your patrol gets lost in twolegplace/the junkyard during a scout, time to find your way out without alerting skyclan!

THIEVES
- you realize a vulture circling over your patrol. you know vultures can lure in other scavenging predators, too, do you ditch your catches or risk leading something to camp?
- dammit! your trapper on the patrol failed to mention some vague coyote presence, and now you're expected to hunt knowing it could be anywhere
- the junkyard cat caught you taking its food, but it looks pretty easy to beat, do you take your chances?
- you're quite far in another Clan's territory, stalking their hunting patrol. do you wait until they're distracted before stealing their food, or throw caution to the wind and hope you can outrun them?
- uh oh, looks like you've taken from your friend in another Clan. is this worth betraying your friendship for?
