ShadowClan Mentor Assignments // UPDATED 12.14.25

Name: Amethystkit/paw @Amethystkit
Potential plots for apprenticeship:
Will sometimes feel feelings that don't make sense due to his soul-bond that he doesn't know about! For example fear randomly during training or joy during serious conversations. I want one of the potential plots for his apprenticehood to be meeting his twin and realising who they are and how they're connected, but its not super thought-through yet
Activity level: flexible!
Notes:
Will find swimming easier than the general shadowclan cat! Grew up without siblings or peers so won't have much experience with sparring from play-fighting

hi howee, before i add amethyst to the list, is there an occurrence within amethystkits history that could have led her to learning how to swim? currently that skill is locked to riverclanners or cats that have been specifically taught (either by a riverclanner or nonclan cat) and i dont have any warriors in shadowclan that know how to swim. unless this is supposed to be a future plot between the two clans and im misunderstanding ^^;

Name: Frogheart
Experience level: Average
Activity level: High (but flexible)
Notes: Frogheart prefers stealth as he lacks brute force, and would attempt to pass on the importance of thinking through a situation (though even he lets his emotions get the best of him in high-stress situations). Will be extremely dedicated to training, but will probably struggle a lot with a more stubborn or argumentative apprentice.

Name: Nettlefrost (@Nettlefrost )
Experience level: Average
Activity level: Flexible.
Notes: Nettlefrost is blind in both eyes, which may make teaching apprentices certain skills (such as combat) difficult. Despite this, he expects great things from his apprentices, and won't accept any excuses as to why they 'can't' do something. He'll be strict, but not cruel, as his ultimate goal is for his apprentice to not just survive, but thrive.

Please DM me for confirmation before assigning Echostep to an apprentice!

Name: Echostep
Experience level: High
Activity level: Strictly casual activity (only posting when I feel like it) but a high priority character for me. Should average 5-10 posts per month!
Notes: A stern and strict mentor, one who expects orders to be followed the first time she issues them. She is difficult to work and get along with due to this, but an apprentice willing to listen and obey will find Echostep's walls eventually crumbling to reveal a protective and dependable mentor. They will do their best to instill their apprentice with loyalty to ShadowClan and Sablestar both, along with pride in their home.
— Echostep is a thief and will train their apprentice to be one as well, though they will not be upset if their apprentice does better as a trapper (OOC I would prefer that apprentices already planned to be trappers don't get paired with her for now, though I think it could be a fun concept for the future). In terms of skills, Echostep is likely to focus on stealth and agility, and will not be helpful with building strength or charisma skills.

Name: viscerapaw
Potential plots for apprenticeship: here are some ideas for possible things during apprenticeship!!
- viscerapaw is given a mentor who is either overly controlling or emotionally driven, which creates tension between them. it adapts, observes, and learns how to function around what it perceives as the mentor's flaws. compliance becomes a mask it wears for the time being, obedient only when the mentor is around and otherwise conducting its own sort of training on its own time.
- viscerapaw identifies a flaw in its mentor—fear, guilt, pride, hesitation—and tests it over time. its apprenticeship becomes a series of tests and experiments, subtle enough to pass for curiosity or regular apprentice-acting-out nonsense for a while.
- viscerapaw crosses a social or psychological line without fully understanding why it matters. the fallout is not immediate, but instead lasting distrust or scrutiny, which forces it to account for consequences it cannot logic its way out of or understand the reason for properly.
- being paired for training with anxious or reactive apprentices allows viscerapaw to explore their responses to certain situations or events. this could escalate until another cat has to intervene or separate it from specific other apprentices.
Activity level: flexible - i intend to get more active but rn im still rather slow with them
Notes: viscerapaw is an observational learner. it absorbs information by watching outcomes rather than following instruction. it learns best when given autonomy and space to experiment, and tends to resists step-by-step guidance. it mostly excels at pattern recognition and cause-and-effect reasoning but struggles with lessons framed around morality or emotion. it does rather poorly in group training and coordinated exercises where it must adjust to others' pacing or emotional states. it reacts indifferently to praise and with irritation to emotional correction. at its best it could be considered precise, unflappable, and competent under pressure. at its worst it would be seen as detached, resentful, and prone to testing limits.

Name: Marrowkeeper
Experience level: average, former rogue that trained her eldest children
Activity level: secondary but usually high muse, can be flexible to apprentice needs
Notes: Marrow is a manipulative molly who prides herself on her silver tongue and ability to lie her way into others good graces. She always aims to be in a position of power and I could see her pushing this onto her apprentice as well.

She is not a sentimental person, nor does she care for most people other than herself. She will not view your character as a friend/trainee but more than likely as a burden. She would likely be moderately absent and let her apprentice get away with things.

Name: Swamphound
Experience level: High
Activity level: secondary, can be flexible
Notes: Swamp is a bit larger than the average Tom (not grandoise levels but he has a broad frame and visible fangs) as such he looks very imposing but is absolutely the sweetest tom you will ever meet. He has been in the pocosin with his family long before Shadowclan ever arrived, as such he knows the territory well.

I could see him doing well with a timid apprentice, someone that needs help coming into their own.

Name: Mothbite
Experience level:
Average
Activity level: Primary
Notes: Great at stealth, good at hunting, sucks shit at fighting. Not the most attentive mentor ever but not quite neglectful either. Emotional /w a short temper

Please DM me for confirmation before assigning Ronny to a mentor!

Name: @goldenrodkit
Potential plots for apprenticeship: A huge liar who refuses to let others see their genuine personality. They will lie and exagerrate their accomplishments and make themself look better, but will eventually spin so many lies that the web tangles on itself and collapses, leaving their failures laid bare for all to see. They tend to be self-serving, and are willing to throw others under the bus to keep responsibility off their own shoulders.
Activity level: Strictly casual activity (only posting when I feel like it) but a high priority character for me. Should average 5+ posts per month!
Notes: They speak very rarely, which could be viewed as rude or dismissive by some; however, they are typically polite to those older than themself. They have chronic respiratory infections, which will set them back in their training at times when they fall ill. They will excel at stealth and diplomacy, but will prove only a decent hunter and a poor fighter. As an apprentice they are highly independent, preferring to learn through trial and error rather than being hovered over, and they are not one to give up quickly when they could potentially make progress.

Name: @Sealdawn
Experience level:
Average
Activity level: high/primary
Notes: Will primarily focus on survival skills (hunting, defensive skills, stealth) over most things, tries to be patient and understanding but may struggle with more aggressive apprentices

Name: @VULTURESONG
Experience level: highly skilled
Activity level: flexible - perhaps tertiary as the account existed only recently (idk if it has even been a week lol)
Notes: Vulture will be strict in regards to training. Her standards will be made clear from the very beginning, which may lead to friction between her and her apprentice. However, she will pay no mind to the opinion her apprentice may have on her. Her duty is to ensure that her apprentice needs the necessary skills to become a warrior. The skills in question? Above all else she will focus on survival skills, if her apprentice shows promise and interest in learning what is required of a trapper she will teach them. While she would prefer an apprentice that isn't rebellious, she would train with an iron paw regardless of their apprentices demeanor.
