indentDusty isn't sure when she fell asleep. One moment, she's watching cats mill about their makeshift camp, and the next, she is overcome by darkness. For a moment, she begins to panic, fur raising along her spine. What sort of terrible dream was this, being swallowed up by shadows. Scanning the invisible horizon with the eye that hadn't been damaged by the fire, she realizes that this place isn't complete darkness after all. There's small pinpricks of light, like stars, mixed in with the shadowy black. The longer she looks, the more stars appear, lighting the endless expanse.

indent"Where am I... What is this?

Dustystar - 25 moons - Windclan Leader

——————— I've watched it happen again and again, Haunted by... ✦

Much had occurred in the last few moons, the revival and resurgence of Starclan, new cats coming in droves from the inevitable blood that laid the foundations of the clans reforming. Life coming anew from the decay of the past. This was no different. A smile parted her lips, seeing the grey cat stir. Confusion was natural, but for one alive to come face to face with the stars, admist the cats that walked this land before her, well no wonder she looked on the brink of panic.

"Dusty." Their voice was calm, yet still echoed the silence around the two cats, the gaze of the stars aimed at this fateful cat. Their eyes scanned the molly before them, gaze softening slightly for the scars spattering her pelt, fresh burns. She'd seen an influx of cats, those from the horseplace not far from the territories. "I am Wildrose, but who I am is not important. You are here, admist the stars, for a reason."

They stepped forth, towards the other, closing the distance. "This is Starclan." Their voice a hum, padding through the grass that glimmered underfoot, it was the norm for them, but to Dusty this place was new, everything was. "And the Stars, the cats who came before you, have decided you are the one to bring back Windclan, revive and lead your fellow cats as Dustystar." The name rolled from their tongue, like every moment had led the new leader to this very place.

"You already led your colony to the ancestral Windclan territory without our guidance needed. Even following such a harrowing disaster, you took that initiative to lead them all to safety." Wildrose recalled; they'd all watched on, amazed at even in the face of loss and destruction that Dusty could protect the cats of the barn. It was no wonder why she was selected to lead them, to return Windclan to what it once was. "These words, they mean little to you, but that is why I am here, to tell you all you need."

indent Dusty regards the ethereal cat with one suspicious eye. Windrose? Clans? Dustystar? Her nose wrinkles a bit - not angry, but annoyed. She's had an awfully long night, and she doesn't really feel like listening to nonsense.

indent"Cats that came before me. You mean dead folks, right? Ghosts." Dusty doesn't consider herself a skeptic. There's always been whispers about afterlives, for as long as she can remember. Learning those stories are true isn't such a shock. It's that an afterlife full of cats would care about her at all, is what she's having a hard time believing. It's nice to have some appreciation for all her hard work, at least. Maybe these ghost cats aren't all bad.

indent"You said I need to revive 'Windclan'. Is that the name of your old gang?" The ghost had also told her she had brought them to their 'ancestral territory'. Had there been cats living on these moors, before? Had they taken shelter in the same sheltered patch of ground that the barn cats now slept in?
"I don't mind helping, but I need some clear answers."

Wildrose watched Dusty's face contort in confusion, trying to process everything. She couldn't blame her for that, it was a lot, more than one cat could process all at once. But that's why she was here. "Of course." Their tail flicked, motioning to the stars all around them, the stardust sparkling with every tiny movement. "Ghosts, spirits, whatever you might call us, we are the cats who once lived in these territories. After death, those who lived good lives of virtue, they all come to Starclan, to join our kin and clanmates." They wondered how many of the new cats, those new souls joining the stars were ones Dusty knew, was she close to them? Friends, kin perhaps? They hoped she wouldn't come face to face with them anytime soon, as much as grief may strike someone, living in their memory was important.

With that, Dusty added something that made Wildrose blink, before chuckling sheepishly. "It's one way to put it, I suppose." She shook her head lightly, that gentle smile never leaving their face. "Windclan wasn't my clan, but one of the many that enhabits the territories. My home was Thunderclan." They uttered thoughtfully, wistfully almost. Longing tinging her voice. But they refused the focus to stay on them.

"You saw what destruction happened in the barn." Wildrose spoke, voice becoming grave. "These cats, they need someone to guide them, keep order, and protect them. You've already proved these virtues. We as ancestral cats of these lands want to help you, guide you and give you strength to lead those you've saved." Their gaze again met Dusty's as much as the living cat could with an eye swollen painfully. "Though you shall not bear the weight of the clan alone, listen close as this is important for you and your clanmates to understand.". A voice that once hummed in the air was now strong in conviction.

"You must appoint a deputy, someone you trust to take command when you cannot, someone to turn to in dire straits and, I hope to the Stars this will not be for a very long time, will take your place once your time has come to an end.". Dusty seemed the type to try and put too much on her own shoulders, hopefully, whoever she chooses as her right hand will help her shoulder the weight of this all.
"Additionally, another Starclan cat will visit one of your clanmates too, they will be selected to become your clan's healer, the medicine cat. They will be trained and taught by the spirits of those adept in healing to pass their wisdom to protect and heal your clanmates from illness and- injury..." The smaller cat's voice trailed off for a moment, so desperately did these cats need a healer, they hoped whoever was tasked with selecting such a cat would soon.

"The adults in your numbers will be referred to as warriors from here on out, gifted a suffix by yourself to signify this role. Such as my own, Wildrose. Whether it is their appearance or temperament, the suffix you reward is in your paws.". He nodded towards Dusty, there was a curiosity, the longer the two talked the more intrigued he became to what sort of leader the other may become. But she continued nonetheless.
"Kittens under the age of 6 moons shall receive the suffix "-kit", and once they have reached this age and for all those younger than 12 moons, they shall receive the suffix "-paw", as they train to and prove themselves to become warriors.". They breathed, for just a moment, letting the information soak into the grey cat before them. There was a great reem of information they'd unloaded to the other all at once, they hoped it was clear enough not to cause too much confusion.

Wildrose realised, however, she never answered the other's final question, the most essential of all. "To revive Windclan, you need to seek the Moonstone, it is north of here, within the Highstones on your very territory. There the connection to Starclan is stronger and it is where you shall truly be named the leader of Windclan, Dustystar."

indentDusty watches Wildrose with intent, hanging on his every word. The more he spoke, the less 'nonsense' his words seemed to be. She wants to ask more about 'Windclan'. Not out of scrutiny, but curiosity. What sort of cats were they? What sort of life did they lead? What happened to them, to cause their downfall? She understands, though, that this is not the time for that sort of conversation. The sun will rise soon, and Dusty will leave this realm of stars. The, it will be time for action.

indent"I'm flattered you chose me to lead. I'll do my best to keep everyone safe and sound, and I'm sure whoever else you choose will do the same." Their only worry, now, is whether the rest will agree to put Dusty in charge. They didn't seem to complain when she led them into the moors, but that was right after the fire, when wounds were still fresh and guidance was desperately needed. As the smoke began to settle, would they be so willing to listen to her?

indentThere's nothing to do but try, now. Maybe they'll listen if she proves her mettle as a leader. Maybe not. But she'll be damned if she doesn't at least try to save everyone.

indentDusty can see this space becoming brighter, glowing gold with the rising of the sun. There wasn't much time left, but she still has one last thing on her mind.
"Windrose?" for the first time, she sounds nervous, unsure of herself. "Starclan... will those we lost in the fire be joining you?"

The cat before them listened with few extra questions, but the spirit could see something in her eyes. A creeping of doubt crossed furrowed brows trying to take in every last thing they explained. "This is a lot to process, I know. But trust in your instincts and I am certain you will make a fine leader for your clan." Their voice soft, the sun would rise soon, Wildrose could feel it in the heaviness of their form. "It has been a privilege to speak with you.".

Though, the other spoke again before the slumber was disturbed, an air of nervousness that clung to one final question. Wildrose's face softened, knowing she would return soon. "Do not fret, we've already welcomed them to our ranks. They are safe and comfortable amongst the stars, they shall be watching over Windclan alongside the rest of us." Those poor souls who had been lost to the fire, now bore no ache nor injury, they could watch over their clanmates now in peace. A smile parted Wildrose's lips as the sun neared the horizon.

"Starclan will be here to guide you when you need us most. Good luck,
Dustystar.
