It was the early afternoon, less than a week after Comet and his brother Eclipse had reached the barn where all these other cats lived. Comet had chosen to stick close to the barn for the most part— in his own way at least. His version of that was 'if I can still see the barn without squinting then I can run back easy!', but he chose not to really push it all that much since the season wasn't the warmest for it. He was a fun little rascal, that much was what his parents would call him when he got into one of his many restless moods.
That said, he wasn't outside without purpose and just aimlessly running around, no no! In fact, Comet was outside practicing what he had seen Merry, Buck and Holly do just a few days ago; he went through his memory of that hunting trip he had been there to witness and learn from and tried to recreate some of the moves and tactics as best as he could on his own. He was doing about as okay as someone his age could manage in comparison. He understood the concepts well enough, he was just a little bit limited given his current size.
Spotting a mouse near some discarded planks of wood before the wheat fields, Comet checked that he was downwind of the little morsel before he rushed over, using the planks as a jumping platform to pounce on the mouse! "Nya-ha!" He mewed triumphantly, taking the mouse down as his prey and choosing to go back towards the barn. Since this was just to test his skills, and he wasn't hungry so Comet considered that bringing it back to the barn for someone else would be sensible, unless he ran into someone who was hungry before then.

Yeah the world is still sleepin' when I keep on dreamin' for me,
And their words are just whispers and lies that I'll never believe!
