————————————————————— ∘˙○˚.•

It was that season again, Kuhli realised as they looked up towards the sky, when leaf-fall gives in to the cold and turns to leafbare. That's when the geese take off, flying in their typical formation - one at the front, with pairs behind it, each more further apart than the previous one. Truly a mark of the seasons changing.

This was the first season Kuhli watched the sky not from their garden, but from the wilderness - they had to admit it was a much more beautiful sight, the wild creatures fit the place around them a lot more than the artifical town of the twolegs. More and more did Kuhli find life in the wilderness easier, better - not that they looked at their previous life with disdain, but they felt glad to have made the choice they did. They were home now, reunited with their kin after so long.

As another flock flew overhead, honking in excitement or warning - which of the two Kuhli was not sure - they stared at the sky. So many birds from all around them and soon nowhere to be seen, not until newleaf was upon them once more. "I wonder why they leave and where to?" they murmured under their breath, more a rhetorhical question for themselves than anyone else to hear. They weren't expecting anyone else to listen, after all.

—————————————————— Rocked by an endless motion ✦

It, as all good warriors should, had been out hunting. He was no skilled cat when it came to hunting the little vermin that scampered across their territory—no, he'd much rather prefer a good day on the water over a day in the weeds. The cold was creeping in, though, and it threatened to choke the land… so, with some bitterness in his heart, the fresh warrior stayed somewhat clear of the frigid rapids. Perhaps it was good he was hunting in the territory, what with that often-repeated addage of 'Practice makes Perfect', but it certainly didn't mean he had to enjoy the practice.

Another failed catch. It snorted in annoyance, glaring down at the hole of some squirrel-y creature, one it had clearly been ready to scamper off into at the very sign of danger. Galerunner pawed at the opening, sniffing about—before a familiar, far more welcome scent flooded his nostrils. One of those strange kittypets, one with eyes like Pikestar, must be near. With a flick of his ears and a shrug to dust off the frustration that prickled under his pelt, Gale followed the scent, parting through the reeds easily.

Kuhli was standing there, a strange sort of expression on their face as their stared up, up at something that cawed—Ah. Geese. "One can't be sure." It answered out of nowhere, padding into the clearing right next to the other. "They've got awfully garish voices, haven't they?" It paused for a moment, staring after the flock Kuhli watched. "…But, as far as I've heard from them, they're headed somewhere safer. Somewhere warmer…. and perhaps we should take heed of that as well."

Kuhli had been way too focused on the sight overhead and not used at all to cats creeping in the territory quietly. They startled easily, something Brook had taken advantage of a great many times, but even if it wasn't malicious nor intentional, their body just reacted on reflex. Such was the case now as well, as a voice answered the ringed cat, making them flinch. Not out of fear, just out of not expecting anyone to be near, let alone answering them.

"O..oh.." they looked up at the young warrior that had joined them. "I didn't see you there, Galerunner." Kuhli chuckled awkwardly, ears flicking in greeting and embarrassment the same. The tall warrior was certainly an unusual sight, but Kuhli was not really surprised by anything with these clan cats anymore. If their brother could be granted nine lives, something like out of a kitten's tale, then tall warriors was the least of Kuhli's surprises.

And, well, the warrior seemed to have answers to Kuhli's questions they thought they'd never get an answer to. "Warmer? How do you know?" they asked, surprised. "Is it... is it close? No, I suppose not, otherwise we all would have gone there in the cold seasons, wouldn't we?" the cat immediatelly answered its own question. Even if it was too far for the cats but close enough for twolegs, Kuhli felt like they would have gone there more often, instead of dressing in warm pelts when it got colder - and at that point, Kuhli probably would have known about it.

"I wonder what goes on through their heads." they continued wondering out loud. "Flying in such unique formations, drawing attention to themselves with such honking... they look so small up there in the sky. We must look just as small to them, down here."
