Acornheart woke again, this time, finally, far more lucid than before. He had a better grasp of his surroundings, and his body was surely appreciating the rest. He lifted his head, looking about the medicine cat den. While the tom had no idea who may have visited as he rested, or indeed who still carried the mantle of warrior amongst his Clanmates, he'd at least spotted Chrysalisgaze, and had been vaguely aware of Swallowpaw tending to them both.

As his gaze swivelled to the front of the den, he spotted her re-entering, carrying something in her mouth.

"Swallowpaw!" he mewed happily, his eyes crinkling shut. "You're awful diligent, working with us so much. I hope Tigerfoot is giving you enough time to yourself!"
OOC: Whatever she's carrying can be up to you!
@SWALLOWBREEZE

every once in awhile, swallowbreeze would glance awkwardly at acornheart's sleeping form. the reminder that he hasn't been in the clan for almost a full cycle churned in her belly, and the mental list of what he missed grew with every passing second... she'll start out small, so he doesn't shock himself to death.

the recently dried herbs sway gently in her jaws, hanging loosely so she doesn't crush them. acornheart addresses her with a name she's shed moons ago, and the fur on her neck prickles anxiously. "ah—" she begins, remembering the herbs she sets them aside, she can return to those later.

"it's... it's really been that long, huh?" swallowbreeze mutters to herself, ears lowering before addressing the warrior once more at regular volume, "tigerfoot is um... no longer with us. i'm sorry. he disappeared after our arrival.... starclan named me swallwbreeze."

He blinked in surprise. Tigerfoot had only just taken up the position of medicine cat as they'd left the gorge! And already he'd gone, leaving his apprentice on her own...

"Ah, Swallowbreeze, I apologize," he mewed. "I didn't realize... But it seems StarClan's given you a fine name, and it's a relief they're still here with us so far from- "
Home
, he almost said, but corrected himself quickly. "From the gorge." He looked at the dropped herbs, motioning to them with a flick of the tail.

"I, uh, won't bother to ask you about everything that's changed since I got separated from everyone, you've got a lot on your paws, clearly. But uh... I have to ask one thing."

He shifted anxiously in his nest.

"You... did you see Coffeestar? When you last spoke with StarClan?"
OOC:

swallowbreeze's heart ached for her mentor, for the grief acornheart now had to carry. "thank you." she gazes at him sorrowfully, and turns to gather the herbs, and some twine. she works to keep herself busy, and keeps her ears strained so the warrior knows she's listening.

"no, i didn't see coffeestar, only ancient starclanners. " she shakes her head, pausing her work to focus better on the conversation. "but i know she's there, thunderclan's medicine cat apprentice spoke to her... i think she's thriving more in this land, the connection to our ancestors feels stronger. i can't quite describe it."

He heaved a sigh of relief. Acornheart had no doubts that his mother had made it to their hunting grounds, but he had worried that she hadn't made the journey among the stars to join them here.

"I'm glad to hear that," he mewed softly. "When only Applecloud spoke to me, I worried that perhaps my mother was with our ancestors in the gorge, or that she wandered elsewhere, or simply didn't wish to speak with me." He laughed a little, nervous to admit unfounded anxieties.

"But it seems she has been busy here in our new home! And I'm thrilled to hear that her spirit is thriving."
